Compared to the games out there, Halo is on the Below Mid/Mid Tier list of competitve games. It’s not meant to be super competitve. It never was. And I don’t understand this group of fellas Who are probably a vast less then 10% margin of Fans who believe Halo is some highly skilled video game with a huge skill gap in which new players are punished by the very heat and pressure of the game play and mechanics.
I mean I’m not saying it doesn’t. Yet Halo doesn’t have much of a skill gap at all. It has the same amount of skill gap as foot racing or bike racing, hell maybe even car racing. It takes some skill, but you wouldn’t compare it to Star Craft, or Chess, or Poker.
I think it kind of goes along with the typical notion of Forum goers who have a bigger voice compared to those who actually play or like the game. I mean where were all these Halo 2 loving folks when Halo 2 was out Playing the game. Theres no love for Reach because people who like it are PLAYING the game.
And it goes with competitive folks too. People who just want to play a game, new or old, good or bad, play the game. And there’s always those who feel like they are being abused and need to voice themselves. Yet overall Halo is not very competive at all. It has a skill gap, But don’t try off and make it seem like the next Star Craft/LoL/Chess of gaming.
H A L O 4
Halo 4 will most likely have the same skill gap Halo has had. It’s a small difference between Halo 1,2,3 and Reach. You can say all you want that Halo “X” is less skilled, yet overall Halo itself is not. Any PC gamer, Star Craft Player, Chess player, Poker Player, or a number of dozen much more competitive gamers/players would all laugh at you.
Halo needs to do what it does best. Being an awesome, fun, friendly game. That’s why Halo 2,3, and Reach are so fun. That fun factor. If Halo focused more on skill gap and competitveness it wouldn’t be liked by 90% of its fans today. I think some people need to learn what Halo is. Because it’s not MLG, It’s Halo.
