Population numbers of today’s Halo beg to differ.

Indeed
“Defenders” of the modern versions of Halo tend to forget that they’re pretty much the only one’s playing the game.
The population for every new Halo that have had radical changes in the core gameplay always dipped in population very fast.
ARENA IS HALO
The main reason I choose halo other other games is the EVERYONE has the same abilities…
No unbalancing
Your skill and teamwork gets you the win…
ITS SUPERIOR

> Arena shooters consist of arena like maps (mostly symmetrical and based on vantage points and such, just like in Halo), arena shooters have their equipment spawned on the map, you can’t choose to spawn with whichever weapon you can in an arena shooter. Just like in Halo, rockets, snipers etc spawn on the map so you have to fight for them.

Later Bungie/343i went away from this formula, Halo Reach/Halo 4 where traits were not the same for everybody turning it more into a modern shooter, that’s why those games were not as popular as the others, they were not the arena shooter fans had fallen in love with.
Halo is way too slow to be an “arena shooter”. An individual’s skill is not important enough in this series. If you can’t have 1 vs 1 tournaments your game is missing that aspect of arena shooters. I still haven’t shot a guy with a rocket launcher and as he few threw the air I killed him with my rocket launcher while strafe jumping down a hallway. Halo has many features that are found in arena shooters but it plays much differently. As I explained in the original post the game plays as close to a tactical shooter as it does an arena shooter.

speed of game play has NOTHING to do with the arena FPS genre…
the only thing that decide whether a game is a arena shooter or not is the map, and that play have even starts, that literally is the who basis.
I actually completely explained how Halo doesn’t fit as an arena shooter. You can’t argue with it. Stop trying, seriously. Halo plays nothing like Painkiller or Quake 3 or any other game of that type. It is not even close.
