Halo is love/hate relationship. Lost that Feeling

I’ve got mixed feelings about Halo 5!

On one hand its an awesome well crafted game!
On the other hand. It doesn’t even feel like a halo game!

I mean. Come on. Super Evil God Robots? (I know the sky is the limit when your technology is as advanced as the forerunners, but still). Halo 5 just lacks that certain… Something.

Plus the few inconsistencies that bother me a little bit:

Where did blue team come from? I know the back story about the Spartan 2 program and that Kelly and Halsey survived reach and got trapped inside a Forerunner shield world (Book:Shadows of Onyx). But how did they escape the Shield world. Where did they (Blue team) come from? How was the reunion with the chief? How long have they been reunited? The chief was suppose to be the last spartan 2!

(I’m sure its covered in numerous comic books or novels or something, but i’m not aware of them)

And how did Dr. Halsey know about Cortana Before everyone else?

What about the Janice key?! That seems to have been completely forgotten!

Then what happened between the end of spartan ops and Halo 5? Instead of kicking Jul’mdama’s -Yoink-, his covenant is already following apart, the prometheans have already betrayed him. We (Osiris) are just putting him down after the fact!

I miss the good old days of human vs Covenant. True, one of the things i enjoyed about halo5 is it did give us a sense (albeit a small sense) of the state of the universe after the covenant war, (Sanghellios missions).

But if you compare halo 5 to Halo 1-4 + Reach it just doesn’t feel like a halo game!

Again Mixed Feelings on the game! Part of me loves it. Part of me is disappointed. (beat it twice so far!) Will probably go back at somepoint between now and nov 10 (tombraider, Fallout 4 and starcraft 2 legacy of the void… might be awhile after that.)

My hope, is that, in halo 6, we will put these, Super Evil God Robots to bed, bring Cortana down from her power trip, or put her down and get back to that halo feeling universe again! (put the forerunner stuff in the background again and leave it there) The Chief will need a new AI companion!

Thoughts:

Cortana had dumped alot of rampant personality cores into the didacts systems. Is it possible that this Halo 5 Cortana is just one of those rampant personality cores? Is the real cortana still out there somewhere? Why was she quoting the didact from the halo 4 ending?
I think the Didact is skittering around out there still.

What are your thoughts?

I haven’t played the campaign yet but if you read up on it (even on the wiki) you can find out how the Didact dies so if its linked to a part in this campaign then we can just use that to confirm or deny his death.

I agree Halo 5 is missing the certain something that made all other Halo games good even Halo Wars at least story wise.
All your questions are answers in Kilo-Five Trilogy, The Forerunner Saga, Halo comic books so have fun reading since some are fairly dull.

I liked it a lot actually, but it sets up halo 6 so good IMO. But it was a different formula it wasn’t , find the forerunner artifact, learn about it, blow it up…a nice twist, for once. That halo ring at the end doe

I feel like, even the 343 white knighters have to admit, there’s a lot less content in this game than, say, Halo 4. The custom game options are pitiful, there’s no forge yet, no file share system, no splitscreen, very short missions, no other PvE mode like Firefight or Spartan Ops, and more things I probably can’t think of right now. Yes, there’s hundred of armor permutations, but you can’t mix and match set pieces anymore. It feels like a step back. This is next gen, we should be able to have hundreds of armor pieces and be able to use them in similar depth to Halo 4. Yes, there’s like three variants of every sandbox element (guns, vehicles, etc.), but because of the REQ pack system, plus rarities, you’ll barely ever see them in-game, let alone get them. Not to mention they downright uplayed the whole ‘hunt’ aspect of the game. You play as Blue Team, what, three times? You have to admit, compared to the previous Halos, there is a distinct imbalance of content. And I feel like it hurts the game on top of the other various issues that make it feel “not-Halo” and more casually-orientated.
