Halo is like a car..

A car is essentially a tool for getting from point A to B but it also has features to make it comfortable and enjoyable

A game is essentially gameplay but it has features to make it convenient, enjoyable and user friendly.

Imagine a car, this car has airconditioning, heated seats, surround sound, tvs on the back of the seats and a fluffy dice hanging from the rear view mirror. This car is halo.
It gets you from point A to B and its comfortable and enjoyable.

What 343 have done to halo 5 is strip this car, they have removed the airconditioning, heated seats, surround sound, tvs on the back of the seats and the dice.
The car still gets you from A to B but its no longer comfortable or user friendly.

Halo 5 has fun gameplay, but all the features that made the game convenient, enjoyable and user friendly are gone.
343 have removed

  1. The ability to view other players in the game lobby.
  2. The ability to see who is talking in the lobby.
  3. The ability to view medals post game.
  4. Detailed armor customization.
  5. Social playlists.
  6. Split screen.
  7. A file share system.
  8. A map voting system or a veto system.
And potentially even more i cant think of right now, 1 and 3 disapoint me especially.

Halo 5 has great gameplay, but all the other, non gameplay features that put the icing on the game are absent.
Im very disapointed. This game took a step foward in gameplay but 2 steps back outside of it

Halo is an expensive car that Microsoft crashed for -Yoink!- and giggles.

Sounds like a school bus

One thing that personally bothers me I the fact we have to connect online to customize our Spartan or free roam the maps in custom games.

  1. Why? For what purpose?
  2. This I miss, but only so I can mute people more quickly. I’d still have to call it pretty trivial.
  3. This is a miss. I don’t care personally, but I get that a lot of people do and it should be a feature.
  4. Non-issue. Trivial. Beyond trivial. It isn’t even as if it’s something they took away. They just changed it. Why are people so resistant to change, especially on something so TRIVIAL?
  5. I understand why they didn’t want to do this, but their logic was faulty. Social play lists are critical. And they are coming.
  6. You can’t always have everything you want in life. Sometimes you have to choose. I choose a better frame rate and higher resolution. I’m glad they did too, although I am genuinely sorry for all the people who used split screen and wanted it back. Not trivial at all.
  7. This is a wait and see. I’m not in the camp that says everything should have been up and running on launch day.
  8. Voting is a fail. Try any of the Halos that used it and you’ll see what I mean. Even the veto I have very little use for. Random rotation means you don’t end up playing the same two maps over and over and over again.

I’m sorry you feel like you got a stripped-down clunker, but I have to say: I feel like this game is a Benz. A really fast Benz. Maybe a Benz with the wrong shade of leather upholstery, but I’m still feeling pretty lucky to drive her down the road.

Eh, but this car is fun to drive. Who gives a -Yoink- about there being no power windows? 0-60 in 5.4 seconds more than makes up for it!

Yeah your metaphor seems fairly apt XD

My own list contains most of yours with a few additions and while I think I understand the reasoning on most of them I can’t condone there exclusion.

The unfortunate thing is that my own guess for there reasoning for some of the missing luxuries is that we as the player base pissed in the pool and now nobody can play!

Two example of this are the veto system and being able to view a person pre game. We wanted choice and then complained that everyone was always picking the same game/map. and the amount of people I’ve seen quit off my team in the past and only realised why when I’ve seen the ranks of the other players is depressingly high!

And as for social playlists as far as I’m concerned the’re a must! But if I was a betting man I’d guess they were worried about splitting the player base and increasing queue length times. And we all know how quick the forums are in pronouncing a game dead based on queue times! (notice there’s no player count in lobby anymore)

So yeah I think I understand a there reasoning on some thing but its still to the detriment of the game. They’ve made changes though so hopefully if we can get a consensus on the forums about what’s Important to us they’ll listen.

He has a point don’t be an -Yoink- and attack him for it

I agree with everything except the map voting system. I’m glad this time the server chooses the map, so we don’t have to play on the same 3 maps 5 times in a row.
