Halo - Is it dead?

I’m not trying to be a hater on 343 or anything because I think that they did a good job, I’m just worried that it’s ruining the true Halo experience.

Campaign should be a priority and the thing that is most important in the Halo games, and in my opinion, compared to other Halo games, Halo 4 was pretty average and too short.

I get the feeling that there is going to be another Halo game after this, due to the ending, and I just want to say that I hope that 343 isn’t going to turn Halo into a Call of Duty type game, as i can already see happening in multi-player. (Custom classes, perks, killstreaks) They’ve all got fancy names but realistically that’s what they all are.

I just don’t want one of my favorite games to turn into a mindless, multi-player and competitive game like COD.

Am I the only one thinking this?

Halo’s campaign has always been weak. Halo is more of a MP game.

pretty much, infinity slayer is all you need to look at… the assault rifle long understood to be the noob weapon due to how easy it is to operate is given free reign at close range…which rewards defensive camping gameplay…

the fact that aa’s returned as well, all they do is act as a crutch…and promotes slow defensive gameplay…the exact opposite of true halo…

in infinity slayer all you have to do is hang back get the first shot off and you win with a +10 spread…this is not how i want to play this is how boring cod players play…bring back 3 shot headshot with no magnetism and i will respect halo again

> Halo’s campaign has always been weak. Halo is more of a MP game.

Did you not play CE or ODST?

I would say that was one of the better campaigns of the franchise.

> Halo’s campaign has always been weak. Halo is more of a MP game.

All of my wut.

OT: It isn’t going to turn into COD. Sure 343 added in some gimmicks, but they had to because that is what sells in todays market. And never forget, they are in buisiness.

A rehash of Halo 2/3 would not sell at all, apart from to a minority of the community.

if halo was dead we wouldn’t have halo 4.

I’d say this is the best Campaign we’ve gotten since Halo 2 in terms of replayability and fun. I found Halo 3-Reach to be pretty boring and not worth going back and playing again.

But in terms of plot? I just can’t call it a competitor with Halo CE or Halo 2. It was good, it just wasn’t “that” good. I’ll say it’s a little bit better than Halo 3 though. And it’s most certainly very epic.

A definite turn for the better after Halo Wars, ODST, and Reach.

I also hate whenever someone says “The Campaign was too short” It’s not even over yet! There are still 45 more missions in Spartan Ops!

I think we’re just getting started.

The Halo campaign is just extremely weak. Nothing in it is innovative. Don’t go all fanboy on my opinion.

Forward unto Dawn was brilliant however.

Considering pre-Halo CE nothing on that level had been done outside of RPGs, Halo CE was extremely innovative to the FPS Campaign Genre, and the gaming franchise as a whole.

Halo 2’s expansion on the series was amazing. And since Halo 2, Halo 4 has been the largest innovation to the plot of the series yet. Sure, in TODAY’S gaming world, it’s just catching up to those around it. But yesteryears ago when Halo CE and 2 were new? They were the pinnacle of non-RPG storytelling.

> Considering that the majority of Halo players play exclusively campaign, and Halo is famous for it’s campaign more than anything. MP has always been an extra thing slapped onto campaign.

… Uh that’s not true.

The majority of players play both, they play the Campaign once or twice, and log several hours into Multiplayer.

VERY few players exclusively play campaign, the amount of players exclusive to Multiplayer is definitely greater.

However, the Majority of players were attracted to Halo initially by the Campaign of Halo CE, and 2. But I think Multiplayer has been the main attraction of the game since 3.

How Halo 4 isnt cod

Hi thre. please read the thread linked to see how halo 4 is nothing like cod
its still halo deep down, and may be the best yet.

Those days are long gone. MP is the main priority. It’s only my opinion, however.

Halo was always slower paced than a lot of other shooters, it’s part of it’s appeal, getting faster and getting a 3 shot headshot would be the entire opposite, Bungie took it out after CE because it was simply too powerful, and it wouldn’t be a welcome return, it would be a departure from the slower more tactical game play the Halo sandbox is designed towards.

Far from the AR being the “noob” weapon, it was simply under powered, it has now been re-balanced to provide an actual viable weapon for CQC.

Halo has ALWAYS had it’s campers who hang back and brag about the K/D ratio, you don’t have to play like that, but it has always been a viable play style in ANY shooter.

The AA were introduced in Reach and added an extra layer to combat, they’ve been redressed and changed in Halo 4 and they add strategy to combat, not a crutch.

Halo was always about longer kill times than most other shooters, I don’t know what imaginary Halo games you’ve been playing but you’ve got it backwards.

The original CE campaign back in the day was the best campaign imo, and a close second would be Reach, 2 & 3 were good and ODST awful,

I think this campaign is weak too, and not alot of ideas have went into it,

I was hoping for better and more from this campaign but we’ve got what we’ve got and there’s no changing it,

I just hope 343i do a bit better on 5.

I find it very hard to believe that a big number of people would buy a Halo game for specifically the campaign and barely/never play the multiplayer.

Multiplayer is the big aspect of Halo that makes your time played high, not a decently short campaign.

I find it amazing that people buy COD for campaign too.
