Hate it or love it the new halo infinite is going to be a halo and if you’re a real fan you won’t let any of these newer features sway you away. We’re going to have a new experience and be able to have fun and play together like we always have. So while you may have your opinions just remember it’s halo and no matter what we can make it fun even if it has a new skin slapped over it
I’m something like 7/10 satisfied with the demo shown today. The enhanced movement being even more enhanced demonstrates a double-down on an oft/lambasted direction, but the tone, story, and basic visual identify on display (if not the actual current state of graphics, which definitely don’t look properly finished texture/lighting wise) are all okay to good.
That being said, can we dispense with the “True Fan,” talk? At the end of the day, we’ve all got different tastes. I love the Star Wars OT and Prequels and hate the Disney movies. I don’t consider myself a “truer” fan than someone with the opposite opinion, but I’m happy to discuss agreements and differences of opinion in a rational conversation.
Similarly, I largely think that 343i has goofed up most of their Halo releases to lesser and greater degrees. They’ve never touched the quality/originality/innovation standard that Bungie estabilished, IMHO. Granted, Bungie went on to create Destiny, which I personally don’t consider to be that much better than 343i Era Halo, so who’s to say they wouldn’t have messed up the series all by themselves if they’d stayed with it?
The credit I give 343i is that I believe they’ve never intentionally ruined anything. I think their intentions have always been good, and I think they’re still trying to deliver the goods. I hope Infinite is the best Halo game yet- even if I don’t necessarily expect it to be.
TL;DR: It’s okay that you like 343i and their Halo, but it’s okay that other people don’t, too. Doesn’t mean one or the other of you is a “truer fan,” because basically all that boils down to is personal preference.
It might be a “Halo”. Whether or not it’s a good Halo remains to be seen. And from what has been seen…well…Lets just say I can definitely tell it was made by 343 and I don’t expect the playerbase to last as long as Halo’s 1-3, or even Reach.
Of course it’s still a halo i mean i didn’t like the demo and made me not Wanting to buy the game but it is still going to be a part of the halo lore wether i like it or not on release date
You can’t just tell people they’re not allowed to criticize a game just because they like the other ones in the franchise, people aren’t fans of Halo just because it’s Halo, they’re fans because they happened to like whatever game they started playing and then played more, people have attachments to certain kinds of gameplay, so why is it unreasonable that people who are passionate about something they love to get upset when the new games aren’t doing the things they love?
As a fan of the classic gameplay style I can tell you, being in the community feels hopeless but I am not going anywhere because I still like Halo and I still have hope that one day 343 is going to make a game I like.

What I was saying about real fan or true fan is in no way meant to like diss anyone. I infact never liked halos 4-5 it didn’t sit well with me. Im more a bungie reach fanboy but what the post is trying to say is hey its a halo game. Lets try and remember why we play halo and the memories its given us. Hey it’s changed a little but we shouldn’t let those things kill off the spirit of halo because in the end we should find a way to make the best of it what I say by a true fan is that you shouldn’t let something small throw you off the entire series because halo is an amazing franchise with even better lore so Everyone should try and enjoy it
Halo isn’t Halo if it tries to be everything else. There are a bazillion other games that already do sprint/ads. Halo doesn’t need to “try to stay cool” with other games.
343i should forge ahead with their vision of Halo in the identity that Halo established for itself. By removing ADS (and possibly sprint) they have already gone back to roots in many ways, and I am super excited to see where infinite goes from here.

Im not saying yours or anyone else’s opinion is worthless and they shouldn’t have one. Don’t get me wrong. I respect yours and everyone elses. I’m just saying that no matter what if we hate or if we love it. It’ll still he a halo game in one way or another even if it looks different but the spirit of halo will still be there. The playerbase is what makes the game fun as well not just the game itself. Think of the custom games from the past and now the customs of the future or the big team battles and the clans all the fun you did have and are going to have with this new halo. We as the playerbase shouldn’t abandon this halo because it looks different. I myself have done the same mistake with halo 5 but what brought me back is having friends to play with and make memories along the way. Sorry if i said anything wrong im just trying to keep the community together because in the end halo is what we make it.

I completely understand where you’re coming from and I hope they do figure some things out but I think since they’re making this a openworldish type game we might need the sprint to transverse further and faster unless we have a magic warthog when we need it lol. And I say they should go back to the older Ads where you’d click into the thumbstick and you get your zoom because that’s what I prefer and tbh I play reach too much so I might be biased with the sprint but if they wanted to keep it and keep fans happy maybe they could do armor abilities again.

While I understand what you’re saying, but I disagree that people who don’t like Infinite so far aren’t true fans. There’s no requirements to meet to be a true fan of Halo. Just as long a you like Halo in some way, I’d consider you a Halo fan. It doesn’t matter if you only like the classic games, or the modern games. If you like any Halo game, you’re a Halo fan. This isn’t restricted to the games either, as there are possibly people out there who are Halo fans who have only read the books, or watched the movies, or even watched machinimas like Red vs Blue. There are many ways to be a Halo fan, and not one way is more true than the other.
At the end of the day, it’s all just opinions and preferences. Don’t try to make people feel bad for having a different opinion than you. Everyone has different opinions, and it’s best to respect them, even if you do not agree.

People are getting the wrong idea when im saying the whole fan thing. How should i edit it to where im not putting others down. I made this post to basically say let’s all just enjoy halo because it’s bringing us together to no matter what and its the memories we’ll gain that’ll make this halo fun not just the mechanics
I see a lot of you guys are taking the wrong idea from this and im sorry if i said it wrong. What im trying to say is halo is going to be a game for us the people to make new memories in and that us as the playerbase are going to make halo what is now and what it will always be. No matter what we’ll get together and have fun playing because that’s what the spirit of halo is. I apologize again if it seemed like I dissed your opinion or made it seem obsolete because I value all of them. I just want everyone to get together as a community and enjoy halo because it’s a great game and franchise and everyone should try and enjoy it. No hate and only love guys <3

Oh I get it. Misinterpretations happen all to often. I definitely agree. When I play Halo, I always focus on what makes it fun and good to play. Sure, none of the games are perfect. There are flaws that I find when I play, but none of these flaws make my experience with the games terrible. They don’t ruin the game for me. I do wish that everyone could lighten up a bit on Infinite with it’s graphics and such, but I won’t let those people change how I feel and think about the game. After all, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

This is one of the most blinded close minded remarks ever on here.

They could convert halo into space call of duty and they would blindly still claim its halo, oh wait

Lol so many people enjoy sprint and ads tho, returning to its roots won’t exactly make it good.
On point OP! Truth be told!
“You’re not a Halo fan unless you have no standards and buy/play anything with the Halo name plastered on to it.”
Putting that aside, is it really so hard for folks to understand that some players like myself come to mainline Halo games for a certain type of gameplay in addition to the wider franchise the name is attached to?
Halo the multimedia franchise =/= Halo the series of FPS titles.
