Halo is Dying and There is Only One Way to Save it

Halo over the years has undoubtedly gone down in sells and arguably got worse (from Halo CE-3 to Reach-5.)
Sells Per Game:

  • Halo CE 5.5 million - Halo 2 8+ million - Halo 3 12.06 million - Halo Reach 9.76 million - Halo 4 9.52 million - Halo 5 5 millionHalo 5 is the least selling out of all of these and yes there are other reasons then the quality of the game like the damage the MCC and Halo 4 caused and some Halo fans went to PlayStation or PC. but there is absolutely not excuse lose 7.2 million fans. Halo 5 is a good game but I will tell you why Halo 5 is only good and not excellent like 1-3.
    Campaign
Well the first step to saving halo is fixing the the story. I think the overall story is decent and even good compared to most FPS these days but it is the overall worst written Halo story. Cortana turning evil was cool and all especially if you are not a long time Halo fan but it completely ruins the emotional ending of Halo 4. Also it kind of spits in the face of a perfectly fine charterer in cortana. It changes her personalty and makes no sense why that is called for. Now there is a way to fix this and maybe they can say it was not cortana that fell into slip space maybe it was on of her rampant variants. Then they could start calling the rampant variant a different name or something but this is not cortana. We can not have another -Yoink- up in Halo 6 tho. Other wise the story is -Yoinked!- so they need to get Brian Reed out of there and also some of the other writers making all these stupid decisions. Brian Reed is known to screw will the Halo lore in comics to and lots of Marvel fans don’t like him either.
    game play
most of the single player is going from arena fight to arena fight with hardly any breathing room. What made the older games so great was that they had moments without a ton of action. This game needs more uh ah moments and less sprint to the next fight moments if that makes sense. For Example Halo reach oh look over there the planets getting -Yoinked!- up by the covenant. Or the moment when you see the Pillar of Autumn again for the first time. These moments are what made every Halo but Halo 5 that wow feel. The only times I felt this in Halo 5 was mission 2, Some parts of the sanghelios missions, and the end cut scene. I’m talking more in game moments then just cut scenes.
    Multiplayer

  • Warzone, its -Yoinking!- amazing  - Arena, well arena games for consoles seem to be in a deep, deep hole and thankfully Halo 5 seems to be one of the first to start to try to climb out of that hole. But its still half way in it and half way out. The reason why I’m pointing out console games specifically is because of one franchise that screwed every thing up for the rest of us. This franchise is Call Of Duty. I was a previous COD fan and enjoyed the hell out of MW2. COD was an imitation of a real game because it gave a way so many free kills. (noobtubes, quickscopeing, bullet magnets, ect) basically all of these cods were complete bull crap and most of the game was unfair. Yes you still have ur COD beast players like any other game because even if the skill gap is very small it is still there.Almost no one can be bad at Call of Duty. Other console franchises tried to imitate this imitation of a game (cod) hint Halo 4. Halo 5 has took a step away from these types of games but I’m going to tell you how it is still like them. Halo 5 is to fast pace. The reason why a game could be to fast pace is think of it like this (if Bob eats bacon every other Sunday morning its gonna taste amazing and hes gonna love it. If Bob eats bacon every day hes not gonna like it as much and might not want to eat it anymore at all. Another example is if I buy a Call of duty game every year its gonna be less exciting the buying a Halo or Battlefield game every 3 years.) Just like if I get 4 or 5 kills per minute as compared to 2 or 3.(those are not actual Halo stats LOL) but sometimes in Halo 5 your reaction time has to on point witch gives you less time to set up your kills and eliminates a whole strategy element of the game. BTW this is no opinion it is a fact. More kills releases more hormones and if the rate of the release of hormones increases the more they become less enjoyable.Another bad thing is for some reason 343 has let the new Spartan Abilities effect the entire layout of every arena map. For example most maps are near the same vertical because of ground pound and this is unfortunate because I don’t see the reason why not have maps less vertical where Ground pound is useless :(. Also in old Halo titles the maps had more character and were not all just rectangles and ovals. They had design elements that looked like it could have been in the campaign. More Invasion maps are needed like Zanzibar and Highground. They also need more elements that make them play unlike any of the other maps, Like Narrows’ Man cannons, Ivory Tower’s elevator, Sand Trap’s Elephants etc.
Sprint needs to go in all ranked playlist and BTB. It needs to go because it changes the flow of absolutely everything, Changes map design, makes it to fast pace. Before you go around saying it would be a carbon copy from game to game just because the common changes in games now days is the movement does not mean that is the only way to change a game and in fact has proven overall to be the most common way to change a game for the worst. Look at Halo 1-3 none of those games feel like carbon copies of each other. Also no throwback maps are available because up scaled maps just don’t work like they did when transitioning from cover and also prove change in movement speed is not the best option for a Halo game and change the game way to much.
Sprint great for infection, Griff Ball, Custom games, and Warzone :).
    How to fix Halo:

  • get rid of Brian Reed and fix story - Make the maps more unique and have better design in the maps, Turbines, statues in the middle, and other gameplay effecting design elements. - Take Sprint out of All Arena ranked playlist, BTB, and campaignCheck out BDobbinsFTW if you want more info on stuff like this (search you tube. It was a link but when I saved it, it did not work so sorry about that). Also if your gonna disagree, plz disagree with logic.

You find Sprint okay in Warzone and Infection, but not Campaign?

Hint, calling out anyone, even 343 employees is against forum rules

Halo 5 isn’t even a year old.

Let’s clear up one thing:

You’re comparing lifetime sales figures here. No one is doubting that Halo 3 has sold more than Halo 5, but comparing the number of games Halo 3 has sold over 9 years to what Halo 5 has sold over 8 months is ridiculous. Not to mention comparing what CE has sold over 15 years. I mean, obviously, there’s a cutoff point, it’s not like people are still running out to buy CE or Halo 3, but you get what I mean.

What you should do is find out how many copies Halo 3 sold in 8 months … which I just tried to do and it’s apparently impossible. But the game sold like 3.3 million copies in 12 days, so again, no one is doubting how awesomely that game sold. But comparing what it sold in 9 years to what Halo 5 sold in 8 months is obviously going make things look much worse than they are. Especially considering Halo 5 is still selling; it was at 3 million a couple months ago, so millions are still being sold.

Also, “just estimates, we don’t know exact numbers, no digital sales included, yada yada, all speculation, no one knows for sure, still can’t top Halo 3, look at it with one eye closed it’s doing terribly, look at it through the other eye it’s doing just fine.”

And Halo 5 is bound to sell more with it being available to play for free for a limited time next week (when the update drops), plus it will be temporarily discounted for 50% off.

Thread name says one way to save Halo, lists 3 things.
Sir, your argument is now invalid!

Is it really? I gotta call my dude. He wants it, but he’s broke … he’ll definitely get it for 50% off, especially if we run through the campaign and do a bunch of firefight during the free week.

I did quote him though, the very last part of his comment. At least it shows that on my screen…

THIS. I got really sad when I ran across Guillotine (Headlong) with a few jump boosts. In Halo 2 it took me ages to get across that map.

You quoted his whole dang thing, man. We know you’re talking to OP if you don’t quote. I’m not actually mad, btw.

Wtf it showed you quoting the whole thing earliwr.

I literally could not contain my LOL with this one. My wife thinks im crazy. That guy is the bane of Halo on youtube. All his videos do is bash developers and inspire fear into people like op. No matter the game its always the same argument.

Prove him or me wrong before you take up space on my thread you -Yoink-

…I think you just did that yourself there bud.

According to Frank O’Connor it had sold 5 million copies ato 3 months. So it would probably at least be 7 million by now.

I feel like we’ve been here before. Have we been here before?

I swear this same exact style of thread pops up every week

To be honest, this is a pretty dumb rule. Calling out individual users on the forums I understand, but I think you should have the right to criticize the people whom are responsible for the game. Obviously you won’t be allowed to throw in petty insults, but as long as you offer constructive criticism calling out 343 members should be fine.
