Halo is borrowing Ideas from everyone...

… and honestly I think it’s a good thing. Yeah sure we get community backlash from fanboys who can’t respect games like CoD, Gears, etc. for what they are, but as long as 343i are taking good elements from other games and making them work in a Halo atmosphere, whats wrong with that ?

You cannot make your game the best game without stealing ideas.

Besides, most of the ideas Halo 4 is borrowing from other games are changed so much and are so much better! :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s clear Halo 4 is influenced by games that are currently more popular than it. But to say they are strait up stealing things and throwing them in Halo is wrong.

Nothing! and thats why im excited… if you want to play halo like it was in the first trilogy, then go play the first trilogy. you will never like another halo game again if you dont get over this!

Halo 5 or 6 is when we get a Dominion/Firefight(horde 2.0) Mode. 6-8 players, lol. :stuck_out_tongue:

This is the very reason why people are saying halo 4 = COD. You see, COD takes the most important elements from successful gaming franchises and dubs them down to fit in with the whole modern warfare theme. Now, halo is doing it too, which is why everybody says halo 4 = COD

If it works for them. Im fine with CoD and Halo co-existing

yes I totally love those huge maps and vehicle combat and the ability to make my own variations on them in COD…oh wait

Halo 1 did the same thing. It’s a cycle. One game does something, another does it better in their own game(or worse, depending on the people implementing the idea).

Halo isn’t original. How it got successful in the first place was implementing all of their stuff really well and.go above what others did, from controls to story to gameplay. All of them put together to make a good game.

I can respect taking someone else’s idea and doing it better

I can also respect them borrowing from GOOD games like beiber field 3 and… gears I guess (don’t see the Gears rip offs but okay).

But to take ideas from a bad game like CoD… I mean yeah maybe MOST of those ideas don’t even effect gameplay (weapon skins) but I mean why even do it then? To appeal to ppl who like mindless reflex gameplay? Even ppl who are stupid enough to get sucked into that aren’t going to go to Halo for minor things like weapon skins.

It just seems like they are on the rickety road to selling Halo’s MM soul to get more money. They obviously care about the story which is the game’s core- but it’s not what keeps it going- it’s MM.

People seem to forget how hard it is to be original nowadays. I think it was said best in the most recent ViDoc: “Great design is evolutionary, not revolutionary.” And while you can certainly make the argument that revolutionary is better, sometimes the best works of art are the most inspired.

Yes, it’s important to be innovative, and Halo 4 has shown itself to be highly innovative in a number of factors… but that should not forbid it from borrowing ideas from others, so long as they make it work. And from the looks of it, they seem to work phenomenally well. Killcams, loadouts, sprinting, whatever; If you have faith that you can do it right, then go for it, no matter what people say. “They shouldn’t borrow from COD because COD is bad” is not a solid argument. Improvements can, and will, be made.
