Halo is better now. You're just stuck in the past

Any Halo game with Jenga is better than any Halo game without Jenga.

In all seriousness, I’m enjoying the core gameplay, especially with the recent enemy player collision change. There’s minor issues with weapon balancing and customization/progress, and customization is a legitimate issue, in my view, even if it is minor for me; it’s been a standard since 3. The larger issue I think is the lack of content. And not only that, but back then, those games had active and vibrant social elements that just don’t exist really anymore; used to be you’d get lobbies full of talkative people and after a match everyone would party up in a custom game and have a blast. With the absence of the lobby entirely and no functioning custom game system and no forge, that’s a big issue. But the lack of playlists and thereby the lack of variety is pretty damning. I’m also missing the way BTB felt in 2, 3, and Reach. I don’t mind it here, but I’m missing a map akin to Blood Gulch with vehicles at the start.

Stop trying to defend the problems the game has but saying “IT’S FUN”.

And yet you follow up your sentence with “Yet why do you care so much about playing dress up with your spartan like some kind of barbie doll.” You’re completely ignoring that customization has been a growing part of Halo ever since the first game! (Halo 2 introduced secondary colors, Halo 3 had the first mix and match pieces and more colors, Halo Reach added even more parts and attachments, Halo 4 literally let you swap out the entire set of armor).

Also, no need for personal attacks. I’m already -Yoink!- pissed off enough as it is.

Edit: Holy -Yoink!-, what a hypocrite! You literally made a post complaining about not being able to customize your spartan!

  • No player collision
  • no friendly fire on default
  • Bad melee collision
  • No grenade jumping
  • No emping from plasma pistol
  • No one hit kill with flag or oddball
  • Vehicle Physics are horrible
  • Strafe has no momentum/interia
  • No Slayer dedicated Playlist
  • No real shotgun to compete against the sword.
  • No proper physics when it comes to explosions from grenades where it doesn’t blow a player away from the shockwaves.
  • Horrible small and inconsistent Radar that doesn’t even track movement in times when it’s supposed to.

Wow. I just listed core gameplay fundamentals Halo is known for. As well as how a proper game with good physics should have. And this isn’t stuck in the past because…every…Halo…even Halo 5…had what I mentioned.

Oh and thanks for basically giving 343 and Microsoft suits a green light for a half baked Halo experience…because not even being so much as to customize the color of my Spartan any time I want, with any color…is firmly…embarrassing. I’ve seen fanmade Halo games…actually implement a COLOR WHEEL…yet a 500$ million budget game funded by Microsoft can’t… You ask why dress up like a Barbie doll? Hmm maybe because 343 said we could and look unique from one another. And yet…I’m level 29 about to be 30…Diamond Rank 2, and my Spartan is blue with the same armor since day one. Seems to me that we lost the classic Red vs Blue team color system FOR NOTHING.

yeah cosmetics are cool, and they give you some reason to play that extra game every day, but really, a game with trash gameplay and gucci cosmetics would be worthless to me. Basically every single game on the market has crap tons of cosmetics, do I care? No. Because none of them games play like Infinite does.

Its basically just some plain toast, but we want some butter and oatmeal to go along with lol.

Yeah, so when we get a game with good gameplay, I would like to customize myself to immerse myself further into the fun. I’m one of the few that are happy to get what I want from the BP which is the ODST stuff. I’m also happy to get those skins eventually on the Tenrai pass. The sidekick and BR skins. I would like a shinier armor coating to suit, so I’m still on the lookout for that.

But, other people aren’t so lucky and may have to wait months to find the armor set that suits them, and it’s easy to just tell them “oh well, it’s not gameplay,” but come on. Games are shiny and we can customize ourselves as stated in 343’s mission statement. I don’t get the need to just talk people down for wanting just that little bit more than gameplay.

Less playlists, less modes, worse maps, no Forge, no Firefight, and bot issues, yet you’re calling it the best Halo in over a decade gameplay-wise?
Maybe you can say that in a year or so, but right now, that’s not true.
I mean, the most essential elements of the gameplay are pretty good compared to Reach, but the elements that are good are not all there is to gameplay.

Also, I care because I like customizing things, and customization also gives something to do between matches.
Maybe for you it’s only about the “GAMEPLAY”, but that’s not true for others.
It’s okay if you don’t understand why people care.
I don’t understand why people like watching sports or playing Animal Crossing.
However, it’s not worthless just because you don’t care about it or understand why people like it.

Anyway, I’m okay with change as long as it’s a change for the better, but the changes being complained about aren’t for the better.

Another thing is that there is a difference between being stuck in the past and using the past as a foundation for improving the future.
“Progress, far from consisting in change, depends on retentiveness.
When change is absolute there remains no being to improve and no direction is set for possible improvement: and when experience is not retained, as among savages, infancy is perpetual.
Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” - George Santayana

As Ive been saying since the beginning,
HALO CE = HALO COMBAT EVOLVES
was no such thing as the Halo Formula, the MAAAAN babies were just stuck in the past with Halo 3.

HALO 3 was a great game, but HALO 3 WAS OVERRATED and just not that fun to play.

I actually don’t think that is much of a problem.
Against Energy Sword-wielders, I usually try to use the Shotgun or Mangler first and then punch them.

The problem for me is that the game doesn’t always punch when I press the button before dying.
The same thing also happens to me with grenades (I even hear the sound, but nothing is thrown), and it might not be the same thing, but I sometimes get shot even when I run behind pillars, walls and large rocks, which is annoying.

If stuck in the past means I’m not okay with 10 maps, three playlists, little to no customization without paying tons of money, no forge, no co-op, poor collision detection, no color customization, poor progression, and no Slayer playlist (related to three playlists), then I’m stuck in the past. Honestly, I think Halo Infinite has a ton of potential. But it’s potential is not yet realized.

I Dissagree, in halo3 , reach and even 4 we were able to unlock everything for free and we got a full game at launch, and more maps later with DLC and not a beta… and we had forge too which allowed players to make maps.

Yeah i seem to have that problem with grenades as well. Didn’t want to mention it , because i wasn’t exactly sure if it was just me.

I think OP’s mistake here is assuming that if you don’t like the progression, customization, etc., it automatically means you hate the game. Which just isn’t the case for everyone.

I don’t enjoy the challenge based xp and I think they went a tad too far nickel and diming with the microtransactions. But, I do genuinely enjoy the gameplay and have fun playing it.

Sure, some people take it too far with personal insults and what not, but it is possible to overall like the game while still having issues with aspects of it. I don’t believe just because the gameplay is well done you can’t point out perceived flaws in other areas. Overall, I really like Infinite but I by no means think it’s perfect. That sentiment doesn’t translate to “I hate it”.

If anything, I wouldn’t say I hate any part of it, just that how they’ve handled certain systems is kind of disappointing.

Yet why do you care so much about playing dress up with your spartan like some kind of barbie doll? Its about the GAMEPLAY

This is exactly what we hate. We don’t want dress up. We want a game that is fun to play and easy to interpret.

But 343 is putting so much energy and resources into monetizing the visuals that it is hurting the game.

To be honest halo 2 and onward has always had a customization system that for the most part really let you customize your spartan, make it yours, indulging yourself into the game, the universe, especially Reach.

I am happy you are enjoying the game. I do too as well. Its just everything else around it. A lot of us are veteran players, we played Halo since CE came out, or at very least H3. Back then, we did not have to worry about all of this F2P stuff Infinite is throwing at us now.

People might be stuck in the past, but honestly, I cannot blame them. It is miles better than what we have now.
