Halo Insider: No update on PC Performance?

Is anyone else finding it concerning that 343 didn’t address the abysmal PC performance of the test flight? I think the only thing they really did was reveal the system requirements for Infinite which is already incredibly high. If someone hears something different please let me know but right now I am incredibly concerned about it.

I didnt have any issues but the requirements make sense for a 10 year game. Game is gonna be out for awhile…if you set the bar really low it will be age itself super early…With the current specs It probably will start aging around the 5 year mark.

They don’t seem to want to tell us anything about the game apart from the things missing and how we can spend our money in the store…

In the video last week they said to expect a 20% performance increase on the PC side of things if I remember correctly, they fixed something on their side in the code I assume.

This is correct. There was a problem with the way the executable was optimized, I believe.

Yes. This is what they said and I although I didn’t have any performance issues because I have a beast of a machine…I did notice the exe starting some weird processes that once I closed them out, my game would play perfect fine. I forget the name of the process that would start but it appeared to bog down the exe and prevent it from getting through the black screens and would cause the game to crash occasionally. Once I closed the process…the exe would still work and start loading and working perfectly fine.

Dude, my computer has like a Vega 56 and I would get only like 35 to 40 FPS on every setting, it was a nightmare playing it.

Did you play throughout the whole flight? IT was TERRIBLE for me the first day, but it got super good the next day. I have a 1060 6gb and an i5 8400 and it was smooth sailing. Did you make sure that you put minimum fps to 60 and maximum fps to whatever your monitors refresh rate was? That gave me solid 60fps because the minimum fps defaulted to to 15 fps for some reason. Lastly I also updated my graphics driver. I honestly had great performance after doing those things.

So I did play for most of the time it was up, I’m assuming AMD just didnt particularly put much work into the driver for the test or something. Usually that isn’t a big deal but with the already present issues it made play on Bazaar impossible

Oh man that sucks… 343 did say that AMD drivers were going to not perform as well as nividia. (at least for the flight) This is one reason why I stick with overpriced Nividia cards and CPU because they tend to get driver preference.

I have a new high-end PC and I was only hitting 80 fps at 1440p. I should be getting WAY more than a 20% performance increase if my Series X can handle 120 fps and the game is playable on the OG XBONE. Not optimized for PC as advertized?

They told us before the tech-preview it wasn’t optimized and it was an old build. We were there specifically to test the bots and to stress test the technical side of the game for them not beta test a release build. I take the rest with a grain of salt. I’m sure the game will run buttery smooth 120 fps on launch.
