Halo: Initiation

I know there has been theories on if he survived, but with initiation it shows Jun survived and wearing a suit ?

He must have abandoned Halsey, high-tailed it off Reach, and became a terrible judge of soldiers - probably because he is one of the Spartans that Halsey didn’t create and are actually broken at their core.

But with the way 343i has been going they’ll say that Halsey left him for dead while she slipped into CASTLE base, he managed to highjack a Covie ship and survive, and returned to ONI where he helped figure out who should replace John and his Spartans.

If you ask me, I think it would be cool if he stayed behind to hold off the Covenant while Halsey got to Castle Base, then had to survive on Reach until ONI returned to survey what was left. I would have much preferred if this first comic were all about how Jun survived.

Or. Lets think the events of Fistful of Arrows are canon, and he got captured after the ending. And got rescued later on somehow.

So much hate already in the thread lol. I’m glad somebody from NOBLE survived to tell the tale. Yes I get the whole “But they are supposed to sacrifice themselves for Reach” and all that…

…but who cares. Jun is a cool cat. Bring him on.

I got Initiation too. I bought it ebook style on dark horse. That brute and grenade! And I didn’t recognize Jun at first!

Nice, I did not know there was a digital version available. Time to go shopping, I guess!!

The physical copy comes with the digital one too.

In regards to Jun…why does no one remember that Halsey quite specifically mentions other people being at CASTLE Base when Red Team meets her in First Strike, and that she volunteered to stay behind to fire off Operation: WHITE GLOVE and to ensure that all the requirements of the Cole Protocol were carried out? Jun would have left with all of the other people evacuating CASTLE Base as his job was only to get Halsey there, after that he would be reassigned as an escort for all of the other UNSC personnel fleeing the base and trying to get off planet. Obviously he would have gotten off of the planet with them during the battle, or managed to get into hiding with them and then be picked up later. Why he would have survived is pretty simple to figure out

Uh, I dont remember that. Do you know what page on the novel contains that? I would like to read it.

Any idea who the ai was that Kovalic has?

I’m more interested in the fact of why a Chieftan is fighting with Elites.

In the definitive addition version it’s on page 153. Halsey talks about everyone else evacuating and herself volunteering to stay behind and to make sure that none of their technology or secrets falls into Covenant hands.

With the ending of Initiation I wonder if Jun is now a oni spook, I have read before he recruited Palmer, but will he train her? I hope they squeeze a little more of Jun on the comic books.

With him being a spartan III maybe he gave up on the program after reach?

Jun is a Spartan, and one younger than John and the IIs at that. I would be highly surprised and a little disappointed with the writing if he ended up retiring from combat and becoming a spook. If there was a legitimate reason such as a worsening of his PTSD and other psychological effects then I could accept that, otherwise it’s just wasted potential for a potentially brilliant character.

Come to think of it, I’m wondering if that guy interrogating Halsey in the prologue of Halo 4 is jun? Only thing is I don’t recall if he’s bald and the accent doesn’t match.
