I’m curious to hear what everyone thinks of the vehicles in Infinite, but here are my thoughts. I like the vehicles, but with all the new sandbox tools like grapple shot, shock weapons, skewer, and repulsers, it feels harder than ever to stay alive longer with a vehicle. I will say out of all the vehicles, I personally think the ghost is by far the most effective out of the bunch and seems to get the most work in. I do think that whole “being able to push the CTF flag with the ghost” glitch needs to get patched though. As for the warthog, it would come in at a close second for my favorite vehicle in Infinite. I like that the change seat button came back from infinite and I was pleasantly surprised to see the overheating turret mechanic is gone (haven’t had unlimited turrets since Halo 3 ODST). Those two and the mongoose were the ones I got a good amount of time with, but unfortunately, I only got one or two rounds with the wasp, banshee, and the scorpion so I didn’t get too much experience with them. While they’re decent, I felt they are unpowered and too soft. While I’m sure not all (if any) of these additions will make it in the finished game, I still wanted to share my ideas and hear what you guys think and what yours might be. So here are my ideas/suggestions:
- Increase vehicles armor/health especially the tank, wasp, and banshee)
- Increase the damage/splash damage of the banshee bombs and wasp missiles
- Drops should be more random (maybe less ghosts & warthogs and more tanks, aircraft, or even other ground vehicles like razorback and rocket hogs)
- Add some seat options on the side of the tank like in the halo campaigns so a few more teammates can ride along into battle.
- Have a few more vehicles set on the map from the start (maybe a ghost, tank, and or an air vehicle along with the mongoose and warthog)
- When a vehicle gets too damaged and is about to explode, you should add/increase explosive splash damage to anyone near it. This would offer so many great possibilities. Does the driver bail or will they suicide charge their vehicle into a crowd of enemies and blow them up? At the moment, it’s not that intimidating as long as you’re paying attention and get out, but with this, you, your passengers, and anyone else hearing that detonation alarm will panic and run for the hills. It could even promote players to try and take more nonlethal methods like shooting out the tires, emping the vehicle, or trying to hijack.
- Have more than one spot for the pelicans to drop off vehicles so it’s less predictable and enemies don’t just rush in to steal/destroy them as they drop or even just add some kind of spawn protection (this is probably unlikely but if you wanted to be cinematic, you could have the pelicans shoot at hostiles near them as they drop it off at that team’s base. This obviously won’t count as kills, it gives that bases team more cover, and it looks really cool).
