Halo Infinite's Physics Are... A Bit Underwhelming

Take a peak at the video. I know it’s self-promotion, but it’s an analysis of the game’s use of physics, and I’m hoping this can get addressed and changed before launch.

There’s a lot of things that kind of look cool on the surface, but don’t really do anything for the sandbox, and I’m hoping this is due to it being an early build, but I’m just not sure.

The movement system is honestly really solid, and feels like I’m interacting with the world on a very real level. The weapons really have a weight to them.

343 described a 3D sound which I’m kind of lumping into the physics, seeing as it’s meant to simulate a realistic sense of surrounding. It does this to middling results, sometimes it’s absolutely incredible. Other times I can’t even tell where I’m being shot from. I have an example in the video of some spatial sounds that BLEW MY MIND, I can’t even believe they put such attention into something so little people would actually notice.

As for the direct physical interactions with the sandbox, it’s pretty limited. Objects you used to stand on, or collide with, simply move out of your way for you and don’t seem to physically interact with your actual spartan at all.

Nobody’s getting killed by cones in this game.

I hope this is just technical preview build discrepancies that will be fixed. I’m just not sure if it’s something they’d really have the time to get on top of.

Pretty good points all around. I am hopeful that it is just an early build and this stuff is on its way. After all, why put in all this cool stuff in some places and completely neglect others?

Perhaps you could write the main points that you make in the video as a summary to contribute something to the post. Thus, generate an initial debate and be able to use your video as a source to expand the arguments.

Good call. Will update OP.
