Halo Infinites Physical Disk, does not contain a game

I went and picked up a physical copy of Halo today. Largely because my internet is pretty slow as I live in a Rural area. I wanted to be able to just install it onto my X1X without having to wait hours and hours. Then Halo says it has to download 18 gigs of data.

Why did I buy a disk if you’re just going to make me download it anyways? This was, as far as I’m concerned, a trash design choice. It’s slated to take hours to actually download, in which time, I’ll have to go to bed for work tomorrow.

I’d liked to have at least seen a warning about this. I could have just ignored the physical media and just preloaded it like anyone else. This isn’t supposed to happen with disks, THATS THE WHOLE POINT OF DISKS.

I’ve said my peace. Hope everyone else is having a good time.

I feel like I was tricked. Nowhere on the game case does the game state that it requires an internet download to even PLAY the game! This is false advertising as far as I am concerned and I want a refund or be given a physical copy of the game that actually has the game on it!

Wait, what! 18 gigs? :joy::man_facepalming:

Edit: Thanks for the heads up because I haven’t even bought the campaign yet, and after reading what has been posted and how 343 is handling everything in this game. I don’t know if I want to waste my money on this game seeing how it’s been half-backed so far.

Not the first time I’ve seen a game disc that was literally nothing more than a boot unlock key, but then again most games on disc might have a portion of the game, but still require you to connect online to be able to activate it and download the remaining update portion of the most recent stable build. The main issue is, the game doesn’t work at all without the multiplayer half of it, so I suspect that the data on the Halo Infinite discs is the same placeholder pre-install that you download on the Game Pass store, which contains virtually nothing in reality, just empty data to state that you own the campaign version. Microsoft won’t state what is actually on the physical discs. I wonder if it will be like Destiny, where your copy of Halo Infinite will be basically worth nothing and you can’t even sell it to Game Stop. Once the online services end, you have a nice plastic coaster to place your drink on, or maybe a wall decoration.
