Halo Infinite's long game

now I’m a little confused right now, as the years go by, technology will advance, games will get better graphics and have new features, considering the fact that halo infinite is gonna be the sole halo game for the next 10 years or so, how will 343i keep halo infinite fresh and interesting? will they update the graphics every year or so, will they add new game modes? will they add onto the campaign or just leave the game as it is? what are your thoughts on this guys?

There will be the seasons of course.

Lots of DLC - maps / weapons / game modes etc.

And yes… the game engine will be updated over time… especially as the devlopers get their heads around the new Series X and S hardware (it will take a gen or two of games before we see what the hardware can really do).

And of course, at some stage the older Xboxes will be put out to pasture.

That’s pretty much what they planned, the game won’t just have a basic starting point and random updates here and there, they will add new storylines/DLCs etc.

They gonna probably put Battle Royal in the multiplayer. As for the singleplayer dlc expansions. It’s gonna turn out into something like MCC over the years i think.

Im sure 343 will be committed to constantly updating and evolving Halo Infinite so it feels like fits with the current technology and completion.

I personally don’t see this game lasting a full 10 years but I do believe it’ll be updated to the high heavens for however long it lasts. be it 5 or 6 years. New maps, modes, armor and community events will keep this game fresh. I just hope they get creative with the maps. I don’t see myself playing for 6 years with bland maps. I’m not saying Live fire, recharge and Bazaar were boring, but they certainly weren’t the most interesting. Act Man nailed it on the head with his most recent video. The maps need to have a level of interaction within them. Be it destructible environments, Buttons that activate things (Bridges or doors), grenade jumping spots, lots of displaceable objects like barrels and crates and fusion coils. You want all of this on top of already interesting map design (Looks pretty and plays well). I guess we’ll see.

Like others have said, the devs plan on releasing updates as needed at any time. As you might have seen, the graphics are more stylized than in previous titles. The less focus on realism the more longevity the game has in the long run in that department. Games that came out 5+ years ago that had such realistic graphics look like trash by today’s standards. In terms of textures I’m sure they’ll add further graphics options as they become viable. DLC has been a thing for years now and I’m sure the campaign will be massive come the y’know whatever year mark.

Most likely they will increase quality of the textures when they drop the Xbox One platform in 3-4 years. They will also be adding more story, releasing maps, new weapons, new modes, and of course cosmetics. They need to use this time to be innovative. They need to try and fail until they find the next big time mode for Halo. Invent a new mode for Arena that changes the industry like Battle Royale did.

That’s not the case and not what thy said

> “Halo Infinite is the start of our platform for the future,” he said. “We want Infinite to grow over time, versus going to those numbered titles and having all that segmentation that we had before. It’s really about creating Halo Infinite as the start of the next ten years for Halo and then building that as we go with our fans and community.”

I wouldnt take everything they say as gospel! Bungie once said the same about destiny!.. i think they will add multiplayer content and release patches over the years yes but i wouldnt expect much more than that and not for a full 10 years i will be shocked if they wait another 10 years or more to move on from infinite and release there next project

I think 10 years from now, Infinite is going to get a big refresh like how the MCC recently got to add Series X optimization. They brought a lot of the visuals, textures, and lighting updates to games that were over a decade old.

In 10 years they give Infinite a refresh and optimization pass for the newest gen of consoles, as well as release the next 10 year Halo title on a brand new Slipspace build. The best theory I’ve heard so far is that Infinite (as a platform) is a sequel to MCC more than anything, and the theory makes a lot of sense to me.

Edit: To be clear I thunk there will also be engine upgrades and improvements along the way

Microsoft also said the original Xbox was supposed to be the end all be all of consoles…we are now 3 generations later…I wouldnt put my money in a basket that this game survives the test of time for 10 years…that being said though…GTA V is at 8 years…and counting…

which still makes me laugh as when gta v launched there was no “this is a 10 year game” marketing.

If 343 REALLY want to make Infinite a 10-year game, they need to do something they haven’t attempted since 4. Story DLC: new campaign content. Not like Spartan Ops, another full campaign mode like ODST was supposed to be for 3.

I just hope the game is long and entertaining

id hate for halo to have a BR mode, but I do think it would be interesting.

My guess would be multiplayer stuff, I’d like to see some Fortnite scaled live events. Or maybe some sort of side narrative for the players Spartans?

Seasonal content is going to push the narrative here. Story DLC should be at the forefront of that sentiment but we all know it’ll be heavily multiplayer-centric. I could see 343 pulling a page from Bungie’s book and releasing major DLC content in the form of expansions with new parts of the Halo, or new planets altogether, and pulling from the extremely deep pool of lore that has been established over the last two decades.

Battle Royale rumors have been mounting and I can see it being a a great addition to an already expansive multiplayer roster. Forge should also be enriched with more options for creating, and adding more assets as time goes on to pull from.

Firefight will inevitably be there as well which is a mode that never gets any love post launch (at least not to my recollection) which should change and get regular updates as well.

The possibilities are truthfully endless, but we can muse all day about the “could” and “should”s of Infinite, but in order for 343 to listen and make it happen we have to start showing some love and support and stop being such toxic clowns toward these folks. So if you give critique make it constructive, don’t be a clown and compare them to Bungie or bust their chops because that’s not going to get us anywhere.

We have confirmed that there will be seasons with additional content.
But have they confirmed they will update the engine itself through the life of infinite? And that older xboxes will then be not able to play infinite (this I highly doubt, you can’t launch a game that runs on Xbox one, then Update it to stop running on it half way through its life.) That would create a lot of back lash.

It is very likely that the upcoming Halo Infinite will have seasons and updates like the Halo Master Chief Collection currently have.

I am starting to believe that 343 Industries will put new maps and new campaign levels in the Halo Infinite updates.
