Halo Infinite's grapple thing needs changes.

I’ve heard from some interviews about the new grapple ability that was shown in the demo for Halo: Infinite. So the grapple pulls the player towards enemies but will pull items towards the player. Seems simple. But something about it doesn’t quite make sense. I remember in physics you can’t really pull yourself to light objects if your heavier than them (due to the amount of force they exert to the ground in comparison to you therefore having higher friction)? Right!? Master Chief weighs like a ton. Those jackals and grunts weigh less than you. Hidden Xperia noted a question asked about grappling grunts and you will be grappling to them. If anything Fusion Coils are heavier than them combine because of the materials they probably use to keep in all that energy it possess. Well, in my opinion I think they should have the “lighter enemies” be pulled towards the Chief instead.
LMAO every grunt and jackal be like stomping tanks. No wonder the Banish are OP.

I think it looks quite fun, I’d sacrifice the logic for fun in this case, I’m sure they’ll explain how it pulls a set of Mjolnir armor to a grunt eventually, and it better be that Grunts are absolute units who can’t be bothered use their full strength.

Yeah I can’t handle the physics of this, I wish it wasn’t in there at all… I can’t say id find this one fun when the logic of it is just so baffling. It makes halo less serious and more of a joke for me. Itd be tolerable if you could grapple a grunt to yourself and then just slam your fist into its head, and for the larger enemies to stagger them instead of slingshotting you towards them. Like cmon flying up to a grunt that’s already in the sky? So lame lol

Physics can make games fun but it depends on the game. Almost all games like these have physics engines.

Maybe chief uses his thrusters and the grapple together? Idk that’s the best explanation I got.

I’d love to see a feature where you could choose to pull yourself to enemies or pull enemies toward you. I think the reboot of Devil May Cry had that as an alternating feature?

its a video game. Not everything needs to follow the laws of physics

Yeah true but things like this break immersion.

Judging by the look of them going back to his old suit, I don’t think so cause it never had thrusters.

No it doesn’t.
But this one is hard to look past.

Luckily, I’ve got another angle:
Tactics and gameplay challenge.

Tactics: I don’t really see a reason tactically to zipline to an enemy, especially if they’re in a group with others. Being in the thick of it is disadvantegous.
Pulling enemies one and one is more reasonable as you get to keep distance and thin them out.

Gameplay challenge: An additional feature could be that you have to time a melee at the right instant in order to either insta-kill what’s coming to you, or atleast stun if it’s a big one. Otherwise they’re there in melee range with you.

Considering how it is now, I don’t see much of a reason to grapple towards enemies at higher difficulties.
They’re more lethal in groups and up close, melee won’t do much towards them and it has a long cooldown so you’ll be stuck there with them.
Atleast that’s my take on it.

Well, to me canonical or in Halo lore. They would be outfited with thrusters by default in the suit. If GEN2 had it then why GEN3 wouldn’t have it!? Plus. It was stated in the Halo Mythos page 61 that the Mark IV had built in thrusters which meant it was a standard for all other armors to follow. This makes sense because they’re basically space marines. You can’t really move in space without thrusters. In the demo though there was no thrusters shown but I think it’s an upgrade element probably.
