I’m just a bit curious to how Infinite’s 10 year plan will work. Do you think that there will be games that release during that time, like spin-offs(maybe a new halo odst game, something along those lines)? I also kind of wonder what will happen with future campaigns during the 10 year plan, and as far as I know they may release the next mainline Halo campaign as part of Infinite’s 10 year plan, but that’s only speculation. One thing I hope is that they don’t go down the destiny route, and take away 75% of the old content just to add the new, and overprice it.

I think we will most likely see 343 Industries start planning to do the Halo spin off video games after Halo Infinite coming out on Xbox Series X, Xbox One and PC. At the same time, I still think that 343 Industries will do the 10 years plan for Halo Infinite in a similar way like how Kevin Feige did with the Marvel Cinematic Universe especially if they are building up to a final chapter where we could see Jerome-092 teaming up with Master Chief and Arbiter to fight Atriox.

I don’t expect that the game will be a live-service type deal like Destiny. My expectation is that the game releases in November, and around christmas we get a little something something (that they pulled from the game before releasing it.) Although my dream would be that it would be new campaign stuff, or weapons for campaign, I think its much more likely that they do a “season” type thing a la MCC, and just release a bunch of cosmetics and stuff every month or two. Beyond that, I’m not sure how big they will go with releases. One would think that if they don’t have to develop a new game, they would start releasing content faster. There are three things I see that are possible:
1: Smaller DLC packs, similar in scope to “Awakening the Nightmare” from Halo Wars 2. Ideally these will include a small amount of campaign, or a new area/new weapons, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they are just map packs for multiplayer or something.
2: Anthology games. I think they would be very wise to release side stories based in the Infinite engine. Just like ODST, it would be a great way to offer unique gameplay and explore remote parts of the lore.
3: More Infinite campaigns. I imagine that when we get the campaign and go to mission selection (assuming we can still select missions,) we will see something like “Halo Infinite: Chapter 1: Mission 1.” Probably something smarter than that… but I anticipate that after this game comes out, within two years they will release a sequel that drops on the Infinite platform. In this case, I imagine we will just have added missions at the end of the campaign, or a new drop down menu for missions from the second chapter. Curious to see how that goes. In some ways I think its great, we could be seeing a lot more Halo content in the next 5 years than the last (and I think its improving aesthetically/learning form mistakes.) That said, my concern is that they will rely a little bit too much on being able to say “oh well do that as DLC.” I’m blown away by how many people on this forum will defend features that seem missing in Infinite by saying “oh don’t worry, I’m sure they’ll add more biomes in DLC!” or “I’m sure they’ll add the real shotgun as DLC.”
I would really still like to get a full campaign, that has its own beginning middle and (non-cliffhanger) ending, for my $60. I really don’t want a half baked proof of concept.
I’d like to see some spin-offs with Osiris, and Blue Team. Maybe see Buck get back together with his old ODST squad.
I’d love to be an ODST and drop down on a Halo Ring with a cutscene similar to the one from Halo 3 ODST.

That would be amazing.
I’m assuming instead of having separate game releases they’ll just add huge “expansions” and add it to Infinite. It’ll essentially be MCC for games starting at Infinite and forward, while the mp will stay as one entity and just get added on to regularly.

What’s left of it anyway, which is basically just Romeo as Dutch retired, Rookie and Mickey are dead, and Dare never became a Spartan.

This is what I’m expecting to happen.
Whether they drop a large expansion every 2 years, or a moderate expansion every 12 months is yet to be known.
Given that they will essentially be using the same engine and platform, a game’s typical 3 year cycle could be brought down to 2 years. And if they reuse some of the locations to tell new stories with side characters, they could give us an ODST style side campaign in-between the larger Chief-focused updates.
As for the multiplayer, that will likely get tweaked over time, but once they are a few years in they may have options to seach for games in ‘Vanilla’ or ‘Title Update’ flavors, a bit like choosing between games in MCC.

I don’t recall Mickey dying. Pretty sure it was only Rookie.
I am still skeptical the 10 year plan will actually pan out as it is so ambitious and no one else has seem to been able to make their franchises work with their respective 10 year plans. If 343 does pull it off I have no idea what it will look like, but yes I do hope we get anthology and other spin off titles during the time.
I think the 10 year plan going to be like Master chief collection I would like if they would do a huge update like every 1-2 years like a new game mode the fans community wants have other updates every 2-3 months of new maps Like 3 and forge pieces maybe new vehicle every 1 year then in 3 years do the next campaign added in infinite like master chief collection and with 8-12 maps of the next game in infinite
How you choose game mode will be the same has master chief collection!
And I wouldn’t put too much focus on the ‘ten’ year plan.
There is no way of knowing where the industry will be in ten years.
Ten years ago we wouldn’t have been necessarily entertaining cross play with PC, keyboard and mouse on an Xbox, Game Pass, console generations stretching towards eight years, eSports taking off, and so on…
In particular Game Pass, if it continues to push ahead, will change up how all developers manage their projects. I assume (naively) that there is a payment to the developer for the first download, and then something for each subsequent period of play. There isn’t much incentive for games that only get played through once… so it will nurture developers towards drip feeding new content and sponging consumers with microtransactions.
I’m sure that all the developers, including 343, are still working out the best ways to approach this. It’s unknown territory, so they will use vague terms such as ‘service’ like a place holder for their future plans. There will be some trial and error, and Infinite may be a bit of an industry guinea pig in this regard. Sounds like fun though.

The time scale is really ambitious especially on the tech level. The Series X came out 7 years after the Xbox one which came out 8 years after the 360, which came out 7 years after the Xbox.
343 is claiming their game will be updated and endure a full console generation and then some.
so long as I can play it all offline then I’m happy where they take it. If MS goes the route at some point requiring an online authentication to play single player offline then people will experience a real problem with both 343 and MS to the point many will move on entirely

Which books have you read? You’ve got this list wrong based on the current canon but I don’t wanna spoil anything for ya.

Eh… that’s an awful lot of multiplayer content and very little for campaign. Would love to see a full new campaign installment at least every other year since it’ll use the same engine and lots of assets will carry over. Would then like to see smaller anthology stories, maybe set in the world we’ve already seen, in the years in between big releases. As far as multiplayer goes, I would anticipate you’ll get seasons with new maps and cosmetics every month or two either way.

Every Game Pass contract is different and I imagine the MS first party studios get a particularly advantageous deal, but we have no way of knowing what those are - it’s even possibly there is no intra-MS deal beyond x% of all Game Pass revenue goes into a slush fund to be divided out accordingly based on studio need within the group.
Some of the third party deals where details have been made public are simply an upfront fee for ‘make game available for x amount of time’, some are performance-based, some are a hybrid - the whole point of the Game Pass model there is to work with devs to provide what they want/need.
so long as I can play the campaign entirely offline then I’m good. I personally think the model should be a great base campaign with plenty of decent sized dlc throughout the 10 year plan. All entirely playable offline otherwise like many others here I’m done. I do think 343 looks set to deliver an excellent game but until I know exactly what that entails, there’s really no point hyping myself up over it. Fingers crossed though

Im just worried the 10 year plan is multiplayer only. I want them to expand the campaign with extra content too. I am scared the only reason why they made the missions very open world is so we can have as much productivity to do in there so they don’t need to focus too hard on that and work on the multiplayer instead.

I really doubt that. The campaign story will continue… we just don’t exactly know how yet.
Big downloads every 2-3 years that are equivalent to a new game? Maybe for $$$.
Smaller, more regular downloads to continue the story… or side stories (maybe even using different characters).
But the story will go on…
