Halo Infinite

So, in infinite we were introduced to a bit more of a “open world” type gameplay.
so my question is, do you guys want it styled more like a classic halo campaign or more like an rpg.
i kind of like the idea of having a type of “skill tree” type thing that you can buff/unlock aspects of the spartan armor.
honestly as long as the main movement/shooting mechanics stay the same, I would really be down for a more RPG styled campaign.

All that being said I only want that for the campaign, as far as I’m concerned the H5 multiplayer is close to perfect.
the two things I want the multiplayer to have is the advanced mobility and the fair starts.

What do you guys think?

I don’t really need/want RPG Halo at this point, especially with MC as the main character - I’d rather finish out the series with him as FPS games. I’d be okay with it in the future with another character.

I think they could go different avenues while keeping it open world but not RPG style that would improve the game. Gun customization throughout the campaign is the first that comes to mind - completing X “side quest” (really just a mission with a mini boss) nets you some type of extended magazine for your BR, or a cool weapon like SPNKR prime. Or, it could get you some type of lore, like a data log or a terminal or something along those lines. Or, it’s a mission to capture some type of vehicle - so you have to board the boss’s vehicle somehow to steal it and use it in the open world setting. I really think it’s going to be something similar to Gears 5 campaign.

Honestly, as far as multiplayer goes, I just want better maps. I was fine with Halo 5’s multiplayer, but the maps just bored me to death - the only original ones that I enjoyed that immediately come to mind are Regret and Fathom, and there were SO many multiplayer maps with all the “free” DLC. Also, Halo needs to be casual again - you need to be able to do split screen BTB on developer maps where people who are familiar with the Halo franchise can just plug in and play. Not one where you need to sit down and explain the controls and changes since Halo 3 - just one where anyone who sees a big team CTF game of Halo being played can grab a controller and jump in.

I’m expecting it to be more like a traditional Halo campaign. Halo has always featured very large maps for levels. So, I think we’ll see that large parts of the overworld are used for each level and that it will generally play like a normal Halo game. I’m thinking of it kind of like how ODST was set up in which you have an open world that’s connected to the levels.

I’d be down for an RPG lite. Maybe you could upgrade your grapple and what not, I wouldn’t want it to get crazy though to the point you can max out your pistol or something to one shot enemies. Or having regular -Yoink- elites have a -Yoink- ton of health, that kinda RPG stuff is a no go for me. At least for Infinite. I’d honestly love a full on RPG spin off.

I wouldn’t mind if Halo Infinite took small parts of RPG, going wherever the player wants, upgrades (depending on how they’re executed), and the expansive world. However, no one wants Halo Far Cry 2 Open world where the entire goal of the game is a check to do list. 343 said that Infinite’s campaign will be bigger than H4 and H5 combined but is it really only bigger because it relies on the generic open-world side objectives? On the bright side, at least the demo kind of helped arrange the “Take out the three AAA cannons” into the story but my concerns still lingers.

A skill tree I wouldn’t mind if it was done something like Sekiro’s prosthetic tools. Halo for the most part focused on interaction with the player whether that would be from the environment to weapons etc. Giving more power to the player that is a base mechanic such as the grapple shot nullifies the sandbox around Halo and Halo was strongly developed around its sandbox! I would prefer that they would be done through interaction but if not, the way Sekiro executes their prosthetic skill tree would suit me.
(Sekiro prosthetic tools are more of a puzzle instead of lethality, they also take spirit eblems to perform)

H5 Multiplayer was a lot of fun, not sure if people are excited for advance mobility returning. They should make certain environments on the map instead that changes the player’s mobility, that way developers don’t have to design advance mobility for the whole entire game. In addition, if the player doesn’t like the idea, only a couple of sections on a couple of maps would not be very enjoyable.
