Halo Infinite

So I know a lot of people were disappointed with the graphics in Halo Infinite now I will admit that the graphics need some work but what I noticed first was that the weapons look very flat all most no detail at all the weapons definitely need more detail and the other thing is that we start out with 180 ammo and 36 rounds in the gun so once again they have decreased the ammo we can carry now I do not know about you all but running out of ammo after every encounter is not fun for me all it does is aggravate me they need to increase the amount of ammo we can carry back to Hallo CE levels or at least Halo 2 or 3 levels

punctuation is your friend and its a demo build. Lets hold our opinions for ammo capacity till release or we see more

i think they showed the old build to get the delay because the game needed more time

I’m pretty sure the game was delayed because of covid-19

Onto the low amount of ammunition. I agree that they should up the ammo count. As this campaign will have larger areas to explore. Running out of ammo will be an even bigger annoyance.

This is another case of developers saying they want to “return to Halo’s roots”.

Yet contradict that statement by:

  1. Extreme ammo scarcity. (Meaning less time with our favourite weapons)
  2. Taking out classic weapons like the magnum and shotty.
  3. Taking out blood splatter.
  4. T for Teen rated instead of M for Mature rated.
  5. Not including the Flood.
  6. F2P multiplayer with microtransactions

Way too many red flags.

I think there are some valid concerns here that you do bring up but I would like to respond to them if I may

  1. I think that one of the main points of Halo’s campaign is that you use many different tools in the sandbox to combat the enemies. I guess ammo scarcity is a way for the game to make you switch weapons often so that you remain adaptable. This could also be explained lore wise because the Master Chief and the Pilot are on the Ring with basically no to little backup so I’m sure they don’t have a lot of resources. I do agree with you that it is cool to run through the campaign using guns you like, but if I remember correctly no Halo campaign besides maybe Halo CE has given you tons of ammo for your guns.

  2. I agree with you on this one. It is a strange choice for them to take out the classic magnum and the shotgun. Hopefully they are still in multiplayer although the pistol they did show looks like Halo 2 or Halo 3 pistol kinda.

  3. The blood splatter could have just not been implemented in the demo that they showed but I am also hoping that it is present in the game as well. Personally it’s not a big deal for me either way but I can see why others would want to have it.

  4. I don’t think they have an official rating for the game yet but I do think it will more likely be rated T for Teen rather than M, which I’m ok with as long as the story is good.

  5. We don’t know whether the Flood will be in the game or not, and I’m sure that if they are that would be something that 343 would not spoil before the game is released.

  6. I don’t mind that the multiplayer is free to play because it means more people get to play Halo multiplayer! There is a fine balance that they need to find for the microtransactions for sure but I will reserve judgement until the game is out.

In addition to that, it’s important to take into consideration when the video in reference got released. If we look at the release date, we note that the video got released on July 23, 2020 which was approximately 5 months ago. It wouldn’t be that surprising if the game is barely distinguishable from everything provided in the trailer.

I believe the low ammo count may be a deliberate design choice.

Has anybody played Zelda: Breath of the Wild? One of its most controversial mechanics is breakable weapons. Pretty much any sword will break in a dozen swings or so. And I’ll admit that that kind of sucks when you lose your best weapons, but I believe there are a few good reasons why the game was designed this way: 1) you’re forced to experiment with all weapons in the sandbox and 2) cool weapons are often the rewards you get for exploration and challenges – and it wouldn’t be as rewarding to get a weapon you already own.

I believe low ammo is the Halo Infinite equivalent to Zelda’s breakable weapons, they don’t want you to carry a shotgun and a sniper rifle for the whole game and when you manage to get your hands in one of your favorite weapons it will feel special.

Just because I have tons of ammo as you put it does not mean I am not going to use other weapons we have needed more ammo since Halo 4 I mean look at the promethean weapons I expected them to hold more ammo since they are more advanced but they only hold just as much as the human weapons and in some cases less

It doesn’t feel special if it runs out of ammo after one encounter or sooner

I’m sure there is a sweet spot somewhere between too much ammo and too little.

  • CE gave you tons of ammo, yet players still experimented. So what’s the issue in giving players a fair amount of ammo that lasts more than 2 gunfights - It legit doesn’t even look like Halo, it’s just a Sig Saur ported over. Even the H2 and H3 magnum had the iconic hand guard that gave them the Halo silhouette. - fair - T rating is bad either way as it shows the games focus on a younger audience, rather than on the game’s core audience. - fair, but hard to do flood with a T rating - More people? I mean sure initially, but how many of those F2P fortnite kids are actually going to stay…no use in having F2P MP if only the core Halo fans play it ( plus then you are stuck with MX’s)

Just my observation, but Halo never deserved an M rating, at least by modern standards. It doesn’t deal with drugs, -Yoink!-, or nudity. All halo’s used a handful of swears and even those used are found in anything above a PG or E rating. The only thing that could maybe push it to M is the flood and even then they have a lot of wiggle room. Body horror can be tricky depending on what is being mutilated (violence against aliens is more likely to be T than M). The degree to which mutilation happens is another factor. Realistically, all 3 of the mainline games where the flood exists use a very minimal visual system to show body horror. # was literally just sphered that appeared and the swapped the character model.

The flood has even appeared in RTS and has killed and mutilated humans and it’s still a T rating (Yes, I am aware RTS is not up in your face). My main point being, based on current standards, you could most likely do a H3 style of model swap without pushing it to M. Once you go the route of say deadspace, then M is essentially required (given how the visuals happen and the type of body horror depicted). In other words, no T is not a good or bad thing.

It is less fun.

Each Halo game reduces the ammo count further. Now it is ridiculous. I also disagree with developers forcing players to play a certain playstyle. It should be optional to experiment with different weapons. And up to the player.

More player agency. Less forcing players down a certain route thanks.

I understand for zelda, but this is halo imagine fighting like 8 brutes in the middle of the ring, the ar is gonna run low out of ammo with like 2 or 3 brutes and the pistol is… a pistol, you will be with a banished weapon with like 40 rounds, not a very good thing in a halo game.

I like the idea of guns having less starting ammo but with a large ammunition cap. It would reward poking around and could also be cool if you could store extra guns and ammunition in Pelican Echo - 216.

That is true that having tons of ammo does not mean you will not experiment with different weapons. I guess what I was trying to say was the devs probably made ammo a little more scarce as a way to get players who may gravitate towards one or two guns only to switch to other guns. I personally think that a better solution would be to have different guns perform better against different enemy types and then just throw a bunch of different enemy types into a battle so you have to juggle through different guns all in one battle. I can see that approach becoming slightly one dimensional in that you then feel like you can only use certain guns against certain enemies but I’m sure there’s a way to balance that that I’m not thinking of right now

thats actually a very good idea, also the pelican should be a place to see the collectibles (if the game has some of course).

Is that the codename for Xbox One, cuz if so, I agree.
