This brings me back to the days of hitting a button to lower my weapon to go a little bit faster because the base movement speed was so low, and the grappling hook was my favorite part of Combat Evolved and Halo 2. The warthog was complete unchanged this entire time, and they even got the hit markers to be an exact 100% recreation! The skin of the grunts look the exact same, and the pastel colors on them just brings me back.

Just thought that I would (respectfully) state my opinions:

The game is quite lacking in graphics fidelity for a game on PC and the Xbox series X. Many people say that the game will look much better at launch, but I wouldn’t think so. 4-5 months to fix the lighting, textures, view distance, body count, animations, plastic look of weapons, and blood isn’t a lot of time. I realize the game is going to be on the Xbox 1 as well, but why not tone down the graphics for that console, instead of making the series X version suffer? I assume that they weren’t recording on an Xbox 1, as that wouldn’t make a lot of sense. In terms of the art style, I would change some things, but they were trying to combine Bungie’s art style with their art style for Halo, as each side has there own fans, so I’m not going to complain about that as it’s more subjective. One more thing I don’t like is that there are hit markers in the campaign. I know some people like them, but many others don’t, so I would like to see an option to turn them off.

I think the sound for this game is fine. Some people don’t like the “poppy” noises, but I am not bothered by it. The music ranges from forgettable to good in the demo (“forgettable” doesn’t mean “bad,” it just means it isn’t something I think about when I think about the game.)

The gameplay looks good for the most part, which is the most important thing about any game. If a game has loads of bugs, looks and sounds terrible, the user interface is bad, the art style is ugly, the story is poorly written and acted, it gets a 7 out of 10 for being fun (in my opinion.) One thing that put me off a bit is the uncreative design for some of the weapons. The pistol looks directly out of Call of Duty or something. (Some people say that it looks like the Halo 2 pistol, but I honestly don’t see it. Plus, that weapon didn’t look too creative in the first place anyway.)

Those are my opinions for the demo. Everything in that demo is subject to change, but considering this is a demo, a lot of what we saw will probably be similar in the final product unless the game gets delayed. All criticism I gave is because I want 343 industries to make this the best possible halo game. The graphics probably aren’t going to look much better from what we saw, and if that’s the case, I strongly recommend that they consider delaying the game, even if it misses the Series x’s launch, as the graphics simply aren’t acceptable for a game that has been hyping up its new engine on a new console for a long time. This game is to show the power of the Xbox, not be imitated by the last-gen version that it’s also releasing on. The game looks good from a gameplay aspect, but it needs improvements to its visual presentation.

Agreed, the YouTube videos didn’t do it justice and I’m wondering if that’s what a lot of people are actually having issues with and not realizing it…

it’s embarrassing: no phisical interaction with the environment, low quality rocks, grass is static and disappears when you aren’t looking directly at it, lighting is static and flat, no ambient occlusion, only one model for trees, low resolution textures, pop-in everywhere, water is static, enemies are idiots (what about brute’s design? It’s already a meme) the pilot model has been downgraded, horrible particle effects. Even the weapon sound is a step backwards. Their screenshots in high resolution don’t help. It won’t be open world so no excuses, and they believe they’ve done a good job!

I am not bothered by the more stylized art style…seriously even the hand-drawn animations as opposed to mo cap…

But why not have a second engine build for cutscenes like halo 4 and 5?

What was the rationale behind that?

I am woefully disappointed by some of the SFX shown in the gameplay trailer the hog sounds more like a honda Civic than what a hog should sound like and the MA5 sounds meh at best and visually i wasn’t taken back it looked as if it was a original xbox game the way it looked call me a bungie loyalist but they at least had art style improvements most of the time but still if we look at Halo 4 and 5 as much as i hate them they are graphically better so far as for the grapplehook being equipment based thats far better than the ability stuff we had in Halo 5 my biggest fear so far based on what i seen is that some of the SFX for the more meatier guns like the MA5 are not fixed I’d rather the MA5 sound like the original halo 4 one where it sounded like a SCAR-H or even the halo reach SFX for the MA5 and please for all that is holy don’t make the new weapons outright replacements for existing guns 343 why not have the OG shotgun exist alongside the new one as well as the M6 series exist alongside the new pistol and the pulse carbine be a banished equivalent of the UNSC BR-85 /BR-55 not outright replacements to the plasma rifle and carbine i worry that alot lf iconic and memorable weapons would fade to obscurity where only bungie fans will remember them im all for new weapons but as long as existing weapons in the lore can exist alongside it
