> As a halo fan, you always have that one game. That one you could never get tired of, and never hate. Now, think of the perfect halo game. What would be a perfect halo game? If I am thinking right, your perfect halo game is similar or identical to whatever your original answer is. Now, has any game since that perfect halo game’s release satisfied this perfect halo game? Most likely not. Now that infinite is looking promising, everyone is talking about how it could be the perfect halo game. But, after thinking about this first question, you can realize that it’s going to be hard or even impossible to make the “perfect” halo game. Of course, we don’t need to satisfy everyone down to the last detail. But, the problem with this is in the fact that, unfortunately, some of our community likes to complain. Down to the last detail. I mean, we complained about a FRICKING BRUTE! something that appeared for about 5 milliseconds was complained about. If halo infinite is like reach and 3, people who are hardcore reach fans will complain about the halo 3 parts. People who are hardcore 3 fans will complain about the reach parts. Another thing is, why can’t two people’s favorite parts of something coexist? Like, the DMR for reach fans and the battle rifle for 3 fans. Assuming both are in the game, both reach fans and 3 fans have their go to weapon in the game. But 3 fans are going to want the DMR removed, and reach fans are going to want the Battle rifle removed. Even if a halo 3 fan or reach fan gets what they want in the game, if something they don’t like is in the game they’ll complain. It’s obvious what 343 is doing to try to cope with this. Instead of try to make an already existing gun serve as a middle ground for two fanbases, they are making new ones. Think the sidekick pistol. If it was the regular magnum, people would have more than likely complained one way or another. If it was like halo 3’s pistol, reach players wouldn’t have been onboard for it. If it was like reach’s pistol, 3 fans wouldn’t be onboard for it. By making it a new gun, it opens up the ability to make it new for both sides and a possible compromise. Same with the shotgun and Commando rifle. I feel like, to help 343 make a good game, we need to be more flexible. Some of us are already able to be flexible (shoutout to my fellow oppressed halo 4 fans) and if we can all be, it can do lots for 343.

> Sorry for the long rant, just this whole conflict of interest has been a pain and it’s going to destroy infinite if we don’t get it under control.
Yea, you’re right. There is no way that one game can satisfy every person. Also are you the “delta dude” in youtube?

On an intellectual level I think we all know no game will be perfect. But since Infinite still isn’t released, it’s only natural that every Halo fan hopes it appeals to what they love about the game. Don’t get me wrong, there are definitely people who take their criticisms wayyyy overboard. But since, as you pointed out, no game will be perfect for everyone, it’s only logical that some people will be disappointed regardless of the decisions 343 makes.

Depends on how you reason with “similar” and “identical”.
The whole statement is extremely vague.
Halo CE Anniversary can be regarded as “similar” to Halo CE, as it has updated graphics, new single player content, and the 360 variant came with kinect commands.
I could take the literal meaning of “identical”, with a new Halo game being an exact copy of Halo 3, for instance, same campaign, same maps etc.
But that’s hardly your intention, correct?

I think the issue is that people forget they’re voicing their own subjective preferences, and projecting them over a larger scale.
Put simply, nobody here is present for any other reason than themselves.
Talking about the “perfect” Halo game, it’s nothing more than the posters own “perfect” Halo game, what they want and desire. My perfect Halo isn’t the same as someone elses. There’s no, end-game, no final form, of Halo to achieve.

Here I think you’re missing some key points.
A: Those complaining, or leaving feedback, are passionate enough about Halo, to leave that kind of feedback. They want Halo to be better, they’re striving for improvements. No, not every complaint / feedback is done in the best manner.
B: If you refer to “Craig”, then I think you’re using a poor example to support your point.
Craig is regarded as being last-gen in terms of graphics. We’ve come to see brutes as aggressive feral beasts, see Atriox and Tartarus, especially in the Halo 2 Anniversary clips, yet Craig is almost human, as well as having the most stale facial expression, in battle.
Sure, it was seen for a brief moment of time in the trailer, but considering they’re going to be our enemies in the full game, we’d see far more of them than “5 milliseconds”.

Because both parts want their experience to be the best it can be to themselves. As I said, no one is here for anyone else than themselves.

At times, features, mechanics, items, utilities will conflict with each other, causing a subpar experience for one part.

Because both parties will see the other’s favourite part as something which infringe on their own preferences in a negative manner.
I have no particular interest in what you like and prefer in Halo, so why should I give in on my Halo fun, making me enjoy it less, only so that you, a complete stranger to me, like Halo more?

Is it obvious? I didn’t get that feeling.
Mine was that i343 are yet again going in to change things up, just for the sake of it.
Halo 4’s grunts, elites and MC’s armor.
Halo 5 Rocket Launcher.
It’s been noted by quite a few that i343 seems to distance themselves from Bungie’s original designs.

I don’t really know what to make of this, I’m quite certain I’ve seen this same mentality before Halo 5’s release.
A good game, for whom? What exactly would our “flexibility” do for i343?
Allow them to release a substandard product?
I was shocked to hear that the E3 build wasn’t old at all, it’s even possible that the game would’ve dropped without any prior information about the Armor Skins, and that would’ve certainly come as a shock for many.
The game had been in development for five years at that point, and that showcase wasn’t eye-raising, or eye-catching at all, for many who watched it, Halo fan or not.

i343 is calling the shots, they make the decisions. We have zero actual input on Infinite’s development.
If Infinite goes down, it’s based on decisions i343 have made.
In all seriousness, though, this game will be a disaster. It’s just not the game for me (no Blue Team? I’m out). The story will still be terrible (stop getting your hopes up for a better story than Halo 5’s), the art style is back to the awful cartoony style (don’t even get me started on the original trilogy art style), and so many good things will get removed (e.g. the shotgun, classic color customization).
