Halo Infinite Will Seriously End Up The Same Fate As Unreal Tournament 4?

For those that don’t know, Epic stopped on further development for UT4 because of Trashnite, I mean Fortnite. UT4 is still in alpha and is an unfinished game. I’m seeing posts on Waypoint saying that 343 is going straight to developing a new Halo game. I hope it’s not true. Why not just fix Infinite and finish it? Fans have called it the best 343 Halo and a return to form, yet it’s going to get abandoned right away. That’s not right.

Man I’ve completely forgotten about this one. Awesome gameplay and the ugliest sniper rifle I’ve ever seen. The performance of the game was insane; it ran on my old rig and looked quite good.

You see, this is what happens when 343 remains silent and lets all sorts of rumors spread around unchecked. We have no solid proof that they are abandoning Halo: Infinite, the only talk of “abandoning” anything was the split-screen Co-Op and they likely wouldn’t tell us they were done with Infinite until they were ready with the next project, mainly because they wouldn’t want to jeopardize any possible sales in Infinite.

It’s ridiculously common for 343 to take one to two years before their games are fully functional, for example like Halo 5 and now Infinite. At least Halo 4 came with Forge and Co-Op at launch but it took over a year before they started rolling out the playlists and new game modes. Going off of history, Infinite still has about five to six months before it’ll be ripe enough for players.

I doubt 343 is planning on scrapping Infinite and starting over. There’s a lot of drastic choices they could make, but that wouldn’t be one of them. The studio has pumped too many resources and way too much money to pull the plug on it this early. To that point, I don’t think Microsoft would allow them to abandon the title—even if they want to.

Not really one released the other did not.
I see the sentiment though.
Cheers I had sad UT4 thoughts all last week and now i have em again.

Rejoice and look at the Eternity map from the last video they released. Looks quite UT-y

infinite is irredeemable

though after the track record of 4-infnite I doubt theyd push for a quick newer game

Most of us long term fans don’t have a lot of issues with Infinite’s actual sandbox and gameplay mechanics. Those all honestly feel really good.

But I can’t be confident that I’m ever going to have fun when I click that button to join a game because the networking config in this game is just an absolute nightmare.

30 ping games range from feeling absolutely incredible all the way to watching blank melee’s occur multiple times in a row and having nearly a half second delay between trigger pulls and your bullets making contact with an enemy. Higher ping games just exacerbate the issue on each side of that scale too.

Infinite feels great, but if the networking config is so broken that no one left at 343 knows how to fix it, then Infinite is dead in the water no matter what any of us want.

Exactly right.

80% of my matches had 250+ ms ping times. I’m in Alberta Canada and it keeps connecting me to a Server in Europe when this happens. The game is unplayable trash at 4 fps

About 20% of my matches are at 30 ms ping times and I have fun (mostly). From playing MCC /H5 I know they are connecting me to the NW USA (Seattle) server because I can pick the server I play on.

The game feels good, but the network issues suck the fun completely out of the game.
