Halo Infinite will be Battle Royale

It’s to no one’s surprise that 343’s main goal is to make as much money as possible, reselling previous Halo games and implementing microtransaction lootboxes into games rated T for teen.

Halo Infinite will be free to play on gamepass because they have found a better way to make money: Battlepasses. They are currently experimenting with battlepasses in MCC right now, and I believe they will implement battlepasses and buyable cosmetics into Halo: Infinite.

We know two things from what we’ve seen with Halo: Infinite’s gameplay so far. First, the game looks open world. Perfect setting for a battle royale to take place. Secondly, there are many new weapons that will be added into an already overly-crowded weapon sandbox. It is becoming pretty obvious that these two changes are only happening because they are planning to release battleroyale in Halo: Infinite, and because they are planning to make as much money as possible with battlepasses.

Disagree? Please tell me why.

I’m gonna have to disagree with this one chief.

343i have come out a month or two ago and said something along the lines of “The only BR we’re concerned about is the Battle Rifle”.

That’s pretty affirmative information sharing 343i aren’t really putting their efforts into a Battle Royale as of right now.
Honestly I hope they don’t add one, I find the genre over done at this point.

As for Battle Passes & Cosmetics, most games have them now. That’s just called “reoccurring income”. Especially since the games Multiplayer is going Free To Play for the entirety of Xbox Live, not just Game Pass. (Game Pass gives you full access to the entire game).
With a larger playerbase available to Infinite by removing the barrier to entry (buying the game & instead making it free) they have to supplement that income somehow aka MicroTransactions. Simple business my friend.

The BR remark was well over a year ago, if not longer. I have not seen it repeated recently by 343i. A lot has changed too, and Bonnie Ross stated in an IGN interview after the BR comment the Battle Royale is always on the table, or words to that effect. Neither confirm or rule out a Halo Battle Royale.

With the game delayed and free to play multiplayer, it’s a possibility. I think we’ll see a Halo Battle Royale, or their version of it at some point. Whether we see one at launch or not, who knows ? But I think it will happen in my opinion.

Damn was the BR statement that long ago? Time really flies eh.

Im hoping not, to me Battle Royale just doesn’t fit in Halo. At least I can’t see it fitting.
With Halo always being an Arena shooter it’s so difficult for me to see that adapted into something else. Who knows eh, guess we gotta wait and see

Yes, time sure flies.

I respect your opinion. Battle Royale is not for everyone. I think if we do see a 343i version of Battle Royale it should be stand alone, that way players that don’t want it don’t need to bother with it.

Like you say, who knows ? We need to wait and see. It may or may not happen.

I am against BR in general but another game mode wouldn’t be a bad idea if you ask me. As long as we have proper BTB maps and all the other regular game modes then I could care less. But if we have a bare bones experience similar to Halo 5 due to them implementing a BR mode then I expect Halo infinite to flop like every other game that followed that genre.

I personally would quite like an odst themed battle royale however I would prefer a better game with less than tacted on gamemodes

I’ll tell you why. Because no doubt they’ve seen the constant back and forth popularity in BR games. If 343 is smart, which is hard to tell, then they’ll stay away from BR, especially since it’s probably gonna be the only halo game for the next 10 years. No way BRs will still be popular by then.

“The end of the war is near, general.” “But the loss of good Halo games?”

what makes you so sure they’re keeping every gun from H5?

Just make it a 16 v 16, or at most, a 25 v 25. As long as it stays within a game mode, I’m alright with it.

Never going to happen, I strongly disagree because they said “I’ll tell you right now, the only ‘BR’ we’re really interested in is ‘Battle Rifle’.”

Battle Royale is a done genre that needs to die because it’s oversaturated the games industry. Halo needs to go back to standing trends, not following the latest gimmick.

If people are that desperate for a ‘game-type’ then they should make it in forge. Every game I’ve seen force this over-rated mode has stripped their game types and has become a generic 1 game-mode that becomes repetitive very quickly while turning basic unlocks into a mindless long grind to unlock with possible lottery systems like loot box’s, which 343i have also said no more loot box’s to.

Battle passes have nothing to do with BR, is a game design that is used in many modern games…not just BR. Also the title of your thread is basically clickbait because 343i have never confirmed Battle Royale…even though this thread is clearly just speculating, has nothing to do with confirming it.

I’d give it a try but I don’t think Battle Royals would fit into Halo unless they REALLY put some effort into

Ah, yes, the Rocket League, For Honor, and Gears 5 Battle royales. Because as we know, a game can’t have a Battlepass but lack a Battle Royale mode.

Stop making posts like these.

I’ve never played a battle royale, can someone explain me how the battlepasses works? I hope it doesn’t affect the matchmaking we usually have been playing.
Also since Halo 5 they added those cosmetics, with HCS’ teams.

Halo has the best sandbox of any first-person shooter franchise that I know, that alone would make a Halo Battle Royale a blast.

I think a good template to follow would be the way Halo ODST introduced firefight to the franchise. Six months or a year after the initial Halo Infinite launch they can very easily introduce a battle royale mode to reinvigorate the player base.

An ODST drop-in style mode with health packs and map spawned weapons, vehicles and abilities or equipment would work fantastically.

I was thinking the same exact thing. They already tossed the classic Magnum and Shotgun away with the dirty bathwater, and we haven’t seen the Carbine, Plasma Rifle, Beam/Sniper Rifles, DMR, etc. But we’ve seen “replacements” for them, so how do we know those classic weapons will even be in the game given 343’s complete disregard for the old weapons.

Honestly, I would not hate it if 343i put a battle royale into Infinite. My real problem would be if this battle royale became really popular and 343i directed all resources to this battle royale mode and abandoned classic MP, Firefight and Campaign (ala COD: Modern Warfare 2019).

On the one hand, a well-made Battle Royale mode (which can be really well done in Halo) could boost Halo’s popularity with a new audience. On the other hand, this could also mean traditional multiplayer (Slayer, BTB, etc…) would be left behind if everyone plays BR and never even touch the rest of the multiplayer modes.

If you segment your audience way too much, with too many MP modes, only the most popular ones would remain, the rest would just die (example: DLC maps).

Now I’m not in favor of a BR mode at launch, but following trends that’s not related to base mechanics isn’t always something that should be strayed away from. Take Halo’s firefight for example, it was based off the trend of horde mode games like COD, Gears of War, etc and overall, the Halo audience liked it . Sure, Firefight did it’s own things here and there to make it feel distinct to the other games but the same concept could also apply on a BR.

Not saying I would support a BR mode at launch, just trends related to game modes shouldn’t be avoided just because they’re a trend. (Of course you still have to account for variables like resources)
