I’ve been a long time Halo fan, not as long as others but I’ve been here a while. since 2008 I have played Halo’s 1-3 and eventually Halo reach. So I am no stranger to “Classic Halo”. In fact I prefer it both from an objective and nostalgic way. What I say may be controversial to some but I really enjoy Halo 5. HEAR ME OUT PLEASE!
Halo 5’s implementation of spartan abilities was a lot better than the armor abilities seen in Reach and Halo 4. 343 understood that even starts and power weapon dominance is Halo’s bread and butter. Halo 5 has its flaws but its far closer to Halo’s formula than people give it credit for. With that said, lets talk about Halo Infinite.
Halo Infinite or “Halo 6” as some call it. still has quite a way to go, so if we come together as a community we can give 343 as much feedback as possible to make the next Halo the best it can be. That means its time to stop treating 343 like the devil and give them credit where its due. They have made a lot of mistakes that have shaken our trust but they have also proved how much they can give the Halo veterans what they want. Our examples are Halo 1/2 Anniversary, Halo Wars 2, Halo 2 Anniversary’s multiplayer, Halo 3 throwback playlist, return of classic armors and weapons in Halo 5’s multiplayer and of course, the teaser for Halo Infinite. Plus fixing the disaster that MCC is after all this time where most developers wouldn’t care is a late but welcome and much appreciated effort.
I think Halo Infinite shouldn’t throw everything that is new away. If we try to force 343 to do that to the new fans that enjoy it, then we’d be making them suffer the same grief we did with all the change Halo has experienced in recent years. There’s a lot of rumors about what Halo Infinite will be and I’m certain 343 already knows what we want on the campaign side of things. But what about multiplayer?
Guys! add on to this post. we’ve already said plenty of times what we don’t like and even hate but lets start constructively speaking about what we want in Halo Infinite. Be kind and considerate. I doubt 343 will take anyone seriously if we are not constructive.
On the multiplayer side of things I beg 343 to give us a proper and fair mix of classic and new Halo such as…
Classic and new armors and armor variants: (like all designs of the EOD or Mark V from Halo 3, Reach and 4 ), as well as new armors for the new and old fans (armor with the new aesthetic from Halo 4 and 5 as well as brand new armor that is designed to look like armor that Bungie would have made)
Retro armor: (just for fun have retro armors like a fully accurate as if ripped straight from Halo CE, Mark V armor. With low textures and polygons as if it is still in 2001 and Halo 2 Mark VI) Come on 343! get loose and have fun with Halo, this would be an awesome thing to do.
You know how you can set custom skins for your weapons? well that brings us to my next idea
Custom weapon models: (lets say for the magnum you can set it to the Halo 5 model or the Halo 1, 2 or Reach model same for other weapons,) this will allow players to give their own spartan a style set to please their own tastes.
Custom Armor Colors: (in racing games like Forza I believe, you can edit the decals and colors of your car kind of like the emblem editor in the Call of Duty: Black Ops series.) we can edit the base color and then choose where our secondary colors are through custom decals, we could even have more than 2 armor colors and add symbols, designs on the armor. what if we could choose the color of the spartan’s under suit as well?
Always have our custom colors on: To some this may seem crazy but if done right it could work, In Halo 2 your secondary color would show up no matter what team you’re on. what if we could always have all our personal colors on, like in FFA. the way you could do this in team based games is to have a green outline around your team mates and have them show up as friendlies on motion tracker and have an indicator for them as usual and to those that think this isn’t enough to eliminate confusion. I have a simple solution for you. DISABLE TEAM KILLING! I remember this being done in a few game modes for Halo 4 but never since. I can understand for the competitive side like HCS and other ranked game modes because there is added challenge by penalty for bad plays but at least make this new idea of showing off your style possible by at least doing it in social game modes. Plus disabling team killing in general would make social better because I’m sure we’ve all had that one guy that kills you for taking the weapon they wanted or running over someone or being run over with a vehicle on accident.
If that really doesn’t work then 343 could at least do what High Moon did with their Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, multiplayer. Enabling players to set their colors for Autobots and Decepticons and then use those depending on what faction they play on. In team games we can choose what colors we want for both red and blue team.
Have two sets.
- you can have cool colors for blue team
- warm colors for red team.
Multiplayer playlists: Theres been debate on whether or not 343 will go back to classic gameplay. Why are we wasting our time debating and arguing about this when we could be asking 343 to have new and classic style playlists.
If 343 and the newer fans enjoy the new game play then that’s fine, but lets ask 343 to at least give us classic playlists alongside the new. that way nobody is dissapointed. and 343, please make the classic playlists permanent if that’s going to be a thing.
There’s a lot more things I wish 343 would do but this is the main stuff.
