What we likely will have in the full sandbox:
- Various SMGs: plasma, hardlight versions at least (god I hope we get the classic SMG, Plasma Rifle or Spiker back) - More tactical rifles: we currently only have 2 (3 if you count the Stalker Rifle); presumably there will be a Lightrifle evolution - High-power shotgun to replace the classic UNSC shotty - FRG, Plasma Launcher or equivalent - Hardlight/plasma automatic assault rifle - At least two more electric weapons - Grenade Launcher or equivalentComment below your ideas!
I hope we don’t get what amounts to different faction skins on the same weapon like H4 and H5.
I still think there is room for a precision jack of all trades utility in this game. Even if it’s just for customs and doesn’t make its way into matchmaking. An actual Magnum akin to CE or H5. Or put a DMR skin on it for all I care.
As long as every weapon has their own niche I’m okay. If we’re going to get a pistol/SMG/AR/precision for every damage type I fear we’re going to get a bloated sandbox where some weapons fill no real role (like the supressor in H4 or the pulse grenade). The new Disruptor weapon is seemingly going to fall into this rather useless category allthough it wasn’t intended to be used in the last flight so it’s subject to change.
Also I think the Lightrifle evolution is that forerunner single shot weapon that follows your crosshair when zoomed.

infinite has every box checked and more, even weapons in similar roles function very differently from eachother. the only weapons I’d really like to see return are the fuel rod gun, stickybomb launcher and plasma caster.
I could see maybe one more heavy weapon showing up, the sandbox is actually in a really good spot if it was left like this though.
Maybe a Forerunner heavy counterpart to the Rocket Launcher and Skewer. The Incineration Cannon was pretty cool but I don’t see it coming back, it needs to be something more unique.
I hope theirs another forerunner gun there are already three of them but they are unique and have such a cool design. Have no idea how it would work though maybe a melee weapon or a turret of some kind.
I really hope the Spartan Laser returns. It was weak in H5 but still reliable against vehicles.
A Forerunner/Covenant Snipe would be welcome too. I always loved the beam rifle…the Binary rifle was ok but definitely another snipe would make me happy.
I predict a new melee weapon.
Energy Sword is great for quick kills on the fly.
Gravity Hammer is great for slamming down for grouped kills and crowd control.
A third melee weapon could see some varied use, or even a combination of the two weapons above but weaker performance compared to the two in terms of one-hit-kills.
Something like a Plasma Halbard, or Brute Waraxe. Swings moderately fast, wide arcs, cleaves large range.
Lore of the weapon could be that Elites that broke away to join the Banished decided to deny themselves the use of Energy Swords because they are no longer part of Sangheili society, so they adopted a more practical weapon which may be seen as cowardly to their Sangheili cohorts.
Energy Swords may still be wielded by some enemy types or some Allied Sangheili (fingers crossed that they may fight alongside in Infinite) but would be interesting if Banished Elites were to have this new weapon.
I think the likelihood of 343i porting stuff that was added to H5 is very high, so just assume the most of the sandbox (or at least the more notable ones) that was in Halo 5 will make their way into Infinite.
Personally I would love to see them bring back the Sticky Detonator, basically one of the only good things about Halo 4. Oh and Railgun can’t be forgotten.
i hoenstly miss the halo ce,2, & 3 shotty…so powerful…so beautiful. I dont want them replacing it I want them adding it!
As I’ve said on the forums before I really stand by the argument that we don’t need a equivalent weapon for each faction as it just leads to the sandbox reverting to what it has been in the last few games - bloated & redundant.
The majority of, if not all of the weapons in Halo Infinite right now have their own unique role in the sandbox. This means the weapons were designed with purpose in mind.
The fact that 343i have introduced damage types for weapons reinforces that argument even more.
Plasma for shields, Shock for vehicles & Kinetic for health damage.
I’m honestly a huge fan of 343i’s new refined sandbox approach, it’s got rid of a lot of junk weapons that were just clones of other guns. The DMR & Carbine are perfect examples of this, they do virtually the same thing, nothing particular compels a player to either of them.
I’m sure more weapons will come to the game over the seasons but I imagine they’ll be slightly different to how you may have remembered them in past games.
