IMO, the Falcon would function best for gameplay balancing if it was strictly an aerial transport vehicle with the side gunner turrets. The only aerial vehicle that can transport teammates (and therefore be used for objectives like CTF) should not be overpowered IMO. The best thing about the Falcon is that it required teamwork.
That said, your idea for a “Tank of the Sky” could easily be achieved by a Wasp or Falcon variant such as the Hawk and/or Hornet, or this could be the Banished Blisterback (see my list above) which would still be balanced because it would be inneffective vs other air units.

I could definitely roll with a Falcon variant. MCC Reach Forge has them now I believe.
I’m mostly basing this off of how the Falcon required so much manpower and still wasn’t the king of the sky. (LOL how about a hannibal falcon with laser turrets)?
Even though I suggested it, I’m not really sold on air vehicles being able to transport objectives. I mean, the Wasp can’t even do it technically, yet a Wasp flag run can be complete in seconds.
Agreed.
Also I just realize how useful seat hopping would be with the falcon turrets.

As it is I am surprised it wasn’t in the game already as it would make a great miniboss type vehicle enemy.

We need the Elephant back too. That “vehicle” was just too damn fun. Fun to play in a battleship themed customs too.

Personally i think the Spectre could come back as a “covenant warthog variant”. Basically it’s a hog that carries a drive, 2 passengers and a gunner. The turret is upgraded to “swords of sanghelios Needler variant” from halo 5. This makes this spectre really good at taking down vehicles. Also since it’s a covenant model, it can boost and has omni-directional movement.
I understand the two vehicles are similar, but some overlap would be nice to spice things up. Also the Specter is notably slower than the hog I believe.
The more I think of it the more I realize the spectre would really work with the customization system in infinite, being a plasma hog it would be rather nice and would feel a niche especially if it acted like the plasma carbine in firing tracking projectiles.

Info: Used extensively by the sanghelli spec-ops teams during the human covenant war it has sense fallen out of use, that is until resently when the banished and UNSC both got access to large caches of it (likely through similar events.)
Comes in two versions UNSC and Banished these are just model swaps in how the armor plates are placed. can be found in campaign in PvE driven by elites or jackals.
Weapon load out: a main gattling plasma turret, and two semi armored pods on the sides.
Abilities: shield and boost, has dome shields protecting those in the side pods, plasma pistols can disable the shields or high damage. Has a short boost similar to the chopper.
Gameplay: a lower speed hover hog of sorts, its main weapon the gattling plasma locks on similar to the plasma carbine, though it does have a spin up time before it can fire with the main turret having 3 barrels that spin in a rotating pattern seemingly taken from UNSC miniguns.
wonder if there are any other vehicles that could fit in halo infinites sand box. I know the cyclops, mantis, and locust could but that would require a new vehicle class.
I’d love for the Locust specifically to be added to the game, I think if it was done properly it could be a really nice alternative Banished Heavy vehicle.
As a quadrupedal walker, the Locust should be able to walk over uneven terrain allowing it to reach areas that may not be accessible to the Scorpion Tank for example. Unlike the Wraith (Plasma Mortar) and Scorpion (Cannon) which fire projectiles, the Locust would fire a Beam from a Focus Cannon. If Sensitivity of the Vehicle is properly limited, this could make the Locust a “Longe Range” Heavy vehicle. With its Focus Cannon it would be capabale of inflicting powerful continuous damage, however with a sensitivity limitation it would be left susceptible at close range. Ideally I think the Sensitivity is only limited while firing the Focus Cannon, this allows the Locust to acquire different targets while still giving enemies the opportunity to evade the Laser (especially if there is a slight delay / charge up before the Focus Cannon is fired).
The locust is 21.5’ tall, being a Quadrupedal walker when it is not being used its body should be lowered to the ground waiting for an operator to enter. Once driven, the Locust will raise itself up leaving it unboardable from the ground (requiring enemies to jump from an elevated position or use a Grappleshot / Repulsor). Every vehicle in Halo Infinite has parts of it that are susceptible and the Locust is no different, damaging the Legs should temporarily force the Locust to lower itself and become inoperable (just like the Scarab in Halo 3), leaving the Locust susceptible to boarding. Another thing that could seperate the Locust from other Vehicles would be giving it an Energy Shield, which would help protect itself when enemies are attacking it from Short Range. I know people have complained about the Plasma Pistol’s lack of EMP ability (Ascend Hyperion just realeased a really great video on why the PP doesn’t need EMP) but by giving a Vehicle an Energy Shield the Plasma Pistol would be given a use vs Vehicles again since it always destroys Shields in one charged shot.
Lore wise the Locust just makes so much sense for the Banished as it is primarily a mining vehicle which is exactly what the Banished are doing on the ring, they are excavating to find Forerunner technology / artifacts.
I’m really hoping 343 expands on the Vehicle Sandbox, the current game has no meaningful changes, we’ve essentially had all of the vehicles since Halo 3 was released in 2007.
