Halo Infinite Vehicle suggestions

Bellow are a few vehicle suggestions based on the gameplay of infinite, Ranging from new to FPS to old all of which have a unique space in the vehicle sandbox.

M121 JACKRABBIT

source: https://www.halopedia.org/M121_Jackrabbit

Info: a duel mode vehicle which has both a drive and siege mode. In drive mode it is a fast moving forward firing scout vehicle, in seige mode it has a 360 degree firing area but looses most of its mobility.

The vehicle swaps modes by parting its wheels from bicycle to tripod mode. and raising its gun from forward locked to turret mounted.

Weapon loadout
M121A: 1x HMG similar to the warthog
M121G: 1x Rapid fire grenade launcher (see halo reach falcon)

gameplay: a rapid attack map control tool the Jackrabbit excels at getting to and locking down locations, this comes at a cost, the driver while protected from the front and rear has no side protection, and while in siege mode they are almost completely immobile unable to dodge explosives.

there is also a delay between modes preventing one from just swapping back to bike mode any time an attack starts.

VAMPIRE

source: https://www.halopedia.org/Bkowe%27nei-pattern_Vampire

Info: a heavy Anti air platform salvaged by the banished and spruced up, and by spruced up I mean its stasis beam and outer plasma cannons where removed and replaced with scrap cannon hard points. its main gun being up armored and its design slightly reworked.

The banished vampire isn’t the weak Air to Air Gunship that the covenant abandoned instead it is a heavy ground support element armed with an anti vehicle needler and heavy saturation fire.

Gameplay: a 5 player vehicle, one driver/main gunner, and 4 gun bay users. this is meant to be a hard target a tank of the sky as such it has two bonuses other air vehicles don’t first the driver has a jammer instead of a boost and second it has a built in shield blocking most light damage.

Weapons
driver: heavy needler (3 shots to combine on vehicle 2 shots to kill a player slow firing. light tracking.)
gunner x4: scrap cannon

utility
hot drop: gunners can exit the vehicle with the scrap cannon in hand doing so removes the scrap cannon from that gunner slot (with any following user using their primary weapon)

Jammer: instead of a boost the driver has a jammer, which breaks locks and prevents locks while active it has a long cool down though and only lasts 5 seconds.

While I agree how would they fit it into the sandbox?

The Jackrabbit should absolutely be in the game, would be such a fun addition (and it makes eay more sense than the Gungoose I think). There’s a lot of talk about the weapon Sandbox but the Vehicle sandbox is what really needs work… they added nothing revelutionary and if anything they made some vehicles worse such as the Banshee and the Chopper.

I think back to Unreal Tournament III and how unique and fun the vehicles in that game were, this is what Halo should be striving towards. I’ll add some suggestions of my own when I get an opportunity think it over.

You carry your homies in it and raid the enemy base to capture their flag. Get those dirty blues!

TUCKER! They want our…blue socks!

The Marauder from Halo Wars 2,
It’s already in the Banished arsenal, it can fill the role of an enemy medium vehicle which has never been consistent. Personally I think design is better than the Revenant although the role is similar but you could easily make an alternate variant with a plasma cannon turret to fill more the role of the Spectre from Halo 2.

The Spirit from Halo Wars 2,
I liked seeing the Covenant using more than one type of drop ship and I think the Banished Spirits in Halo Wars 2 looked amazing. Obviously not really for players but I just think they would improve the atmosphere and make the world feel a little more lived in.

The Gauss Warthog,
As it has been a staple in the Halo universe for a long time now and really it just feels odd not to have it.

The Hornet,
Honestly after seeing what the marines can do in the Razorback I just want to see what the Hornet could do if my airmen were equipped with Hydras or Shockrifles (imagining banshees falling out of the sky)

The Grizzly from Halo Wars,
Personally I liked having the vehicle variants in Halo 5 and would love to see many of those return although the Banished side would need drastic redesigns, but ever since seeing variants I have thought the Grizzly should be a Scorpion variant. Totally understand why this probably wouldn’t and shouldn’t be in multiplayer but if the UNSC have this in their arsenal they should be using this as their tank killer.

I liked a lot of the content from Halo Wars and I have wanted to see content from those games expressed in the first person counterparts

The Hornet and Mantis would of been great in Infinite, would be nice to see some sort of variety other than just the banshee and the wasp

Falcon would be a good addition, would be great in campaign and adds team play!

I miss the Falcon, and it would fit infinite so well.

I agree. The falcon could be the aerial razorback. I think a new/second version would be nice, especially for campaign. I propose The Hawk. The Hawk would be an aerial vehicle capable of carrying light vehicles, such as a mongoose and potentially a ghost. Basically, it has a grapple that will lift a vehicle up and move it where you want it. Mostly, I want it in campaign especially if we get more unbridged gaps.

That would be really fun, and would be a nice as close as a pelican as we can get option.

maybe 6 marines side mounted in places they can fire, and a chin gunner.

The Jackrabbit sounds like an interesting vehicle. I would be interested in seeing how it would be utilized by our fellow Spartans in game.

I could see the Jackrabbit fitting but the Vampire wouldn’t really.

The vampire would more be a BTB or custom game vehicle but I really wanted to do one air and one ground on my start suggestion

So when you really think about it, Halo Wars has already implemented a ton of new vehicles that Halo Infinite would only need to tweak for gameplay balancing. Below are some of the vehicles (and vehicle changes) I think should be brought into Halo Infinite.

LIGHT VEHICLES

  • Chopper: The chopper really sucks in Halo Infinite, it flips easy, it is very bulky, and it isn’t effective at ramming vehicles which is what it was designed to do. I think it would be awesome if it had an added feature like the “Scorpion” from Unreal Tournament III. For those of you who have not played that game, the Scorpion has a boost (similar to the Chopper) however the Scorpion gives players the option to eject after activating the boost, the Scorpion then detonates on impact. It is super satisfying and makes for some real “Super Soldier” moments. In the campaign, Brutes with Jetpacks could use this feature, while Spartan’s don’t take fall damage. This could even be just a Chopper variant.

  • Gauss Warthog: The Gauss is so much better than the Rocket Hog IMO, I don’t even think the Rocket Hog deserves a place in Halo Infinite… more on this in a bit. SOURCE: https://www.halopedia.org/M12G1_Gauss_Warthog

  • Jackrabbit: This seems like such a better option than the “Gungoose” to me for a UNSC light vehicle that can be driven and fired by a single user. The design is so much more unique and interesting, imagine driving around solo in the open world in this thing. SOURCE: https://www.halopedia.org/M121_Jackrabbit

MEDIUM VEHICLES

  • Marauder: I picture the Marauder to be a cross of the Prowler and the Rocket Hog. The Pilot would drive and control the Plasma Mortar / Missile, meanwhile there could also be a front gunner operating a Plasma Cannon. I would like to see two side seats (similar to the Prowler and Spectre) to give the Banished a transport vehicle. Source: https://www.halopedia.org/Eklon%27Dal_Workshop_Marauder

  • Wolverine: To me it makes way more sense to put the Rocket Hog turret on a Medium sized vehicle like the Wolverine. This could either be operated by a single player or require a driver and a gunner. SOURCE: https://www.halopedia.org/M9_Wolverine

HEAVY VEHICLES

  • Kodiak: Halo’s first true artillery vehicle (the Wraith doubles as a Tank and doesn’t need to be stationary). The Kodiak could function like the “Hellfire” from Unreal Tournament III. The cannon cannot be fired unless the Kodiak is deployed in Seige Mode. Once deployed in Siege mode, the Kodiak fires a Drone Projectile which serves as the operator’s camera - the Camera will hover stationary in the air and can be destroyed by enemies to disrupt the Kodiak’s fire. The camera will give you a bird’s eye view of your projected artillery strikes. In order to balance the Kodiak it needs to be an inferior close combat vehicle, it’s only close range defense should be a manually operated turret controlled by a seperate gunner, requiring teamwork to be effective. Source: https://www.halopedia.org/M400_Kodiak

  • Locust: Fires a devastating focused beam (which can overheat) and can crawl over uneven surfaces / obstacles. Destroy the legs to quickly bring it down. I think if the laser aim speed was limited it would make the Locust function like a long ranged vehicle killer, while leaving it vulnerable at close range and giving distant mobile infantry the ability to dodge the laser. Source: https://www.halopedia.org/Locust

AERIAL VEHICLES

  • Blisterback: An aerial seige vehicle, while not very agile, the Blisterback can charge a missile barrage which can be released on ground targets. I imagine this functioning similarly to the “Cicada” from Unreal Tournament III. Source: https://www.halopedia.org/Gydrozka_Workshop_Blisterback

  • Falcon: Having a controllable air transport unit offers a lot of possibilities for objective game modes. It would not be as agile as the wasp, giving the enemy team a chance to detroy it in CTF scenerios. Source: https://www.halopedia.org/Falcon

SUPER VEHICLES

  • Elephant: The elephant could be really fun in BTB, picture teams driving it to points in Total Control. It would be cool to have randomized UNSC weapon and vehicles pads spawning on the elephant so it truly is a portable base. Imagine an infection game mode where the survivors have to drive the Elephant to an objective while the infected rush them along the way or a King of the Hill type gamemode where the Elephant is the Hill and therefore mobile. Source: https://www.halopedia.org/M313_Elephant

  • Scarab: Even if we can’t get a fully controllable Scarab at least give us a multiplayer map featuring a mobile or stationary one where players could operate the Scarab Gun. There could even be a game mode dedicated to it like Star Wars Battlefront’s walker assault, the defending team has to try and destory the attacking Scarab before it reaches it’s objective. Source: https://www.halopedia.org/Scarab

  • Vulture: Again, this doesn’t have to be fully controllable but maybe you could use your AI to take control of the airships guns and rain down fire on the opposing team. Source: https://www.halopedia.org/AC-220_Vulture

I think there are more options like Mech’s (Cyclops, Mantis, Reavers, etc.) or vehicle variants (AA-Wraith, Condor, Grizzly, Hornet / Hawk, Mammoths, etc.) but just the above additions would really re-define Halo’s Vehicle Sandbox. Making strives in vehicle gameplay would take Halo Infinite to the next level, doing something no Halo game has truly done with Vehicles before IMO.

It’s essential for campaign co-op too. Two Master Chiefs, just chillin in the sky AC-130 style.

The jackrabbit would be a great addition (especially on a desert map)
An awesome vehicle that could also be added would be a banished variation of the Locust. Seeing one in the game would make a lot of sense considering the banished mining/scrapping operations on the ring

I think the falcon should’ve been the tank of the sky. Part of the reason I think it didn’t comeback was that it was too “sacrificial”. It needed 3 players just operate at full power (3 players that can’t make use of any power weapons & 1 can’t even attack), and these 3 players still weren’t stronger than the single-manned Banshee. On top of that, you were a big, fat target in the sky that could shot down by a single rocket. Easy triple kill.

Now look at the Campaign Falcon from New Alexandria. It had a nose-mounted autocannon and either 2 chainguns or 2 grenade launchers. I think a combo of all 3 should be on the Falcon:

  • The autocannon on the nose
  • 1 Chaingun on the left side,
  • 1 Grenade Launcher on the right side
  • And maybe the two passenger spots (Like Winter Contingency)

To balance all they fire power and mobility (flight), still give it relatively light armor. A glass cannon basically. Basically the opposite of the Scorpion which is big, slow, lots of firepower, and lots of armor.

TL;DR: A tier-3 Wasp with a 3 man crew.
