I considered trying that, just to see what happens. Just set all the non-optimal servers to be the worst possible ping. But… in all honestly, I don’t even want to play the game anymore. I’m holding my breath for Season 2.
I just don’t understand why they don’t implement in-game server/region selection. That’s the correct fix to this “issue”
Please add SERVER SELECTION 343 PLEASE… we need to be able to play on low ping servers
No i mean when it pings the US server, cook the dns to give it the euro servers IP. If its just looking for a ping back, it will still get it. Not sure how this would behave going into a match though.
But yeah I haven’t played in a few days and have no desire to really
I wouldn’t even know where to start in trying to do that…let alone what it means!
To be fair, 343 won’t even ban your because multiple cheaters on live streams remain unbanned
If you do that, the matchmaking would try to put you on all kinds of servers tho. It’ll think you have a good ping to US servers, try to put you there, then time out because it’s got the wrong IP. If you’re in EU, and put records to all servers except EU to be China or something (something worse the US even), it’ll make the EU server weighted that much higher for you to be the one selected.
Yeah that’s what I thought.
To be honest, ill just play a game that works instead.
This and the article about desync definitely filled up the hopium tank.
But PLEASE GIVE US THE ROADMAP AND MORE CONTENT, PLEEEASE
Ya in theory that could work. I’m not entirely sure what else they are doing beyond that, but it does appear to be a simple ping.
wow thank you soo much 343, for breaking the game again, I was having a lot of fun the last few weeks, when i had a good ping, now every match is 200ms or more, thank you very much, I just uninstalled the game
Just read the whole lag/desync article linked in the first post.
yeah… nice to read, you really pit effort into it.
my conclusion: your super fany systems looks nice on paper but a) you failed to optimize it in 6 years and b) you couldn’t just implement a system like A DOZENS other games have which actually works.
Hell, I played better games 20 years back in quake and cs 1.6 with a much crappier connection. And you know why? Because we all played on a server not 1000 miles away and an obviously failing system to “counter balance” lag.
Nice you always prefer the shooter, I certainly benefit from it. But you know what… BR fights are between 2 people and if I can’t rely on where I am on the map for everybody it’s completely senseless.
I really ask myself if you guys even play the crap you call finished product.
And what happens to players who use ISPs that geofilter by default? That’s probably the cause of lots of these false positives. You shouldn’t have to change your ISP for a video game (especially since many areas have quasi-monopolies with certain ISPs).
Thank you for the update 343! It’s much appreciated. Sorry about all the toxic people in your forums who think they know better than the people who literally built that game and infrastructure. Keep on keepin’ on!
Thanks for making this post and giving a bit more insight about the matchmaking system. On the other hand, I cannot make any specific comments about these changes as I do primarily play the campaign and time constraints.
Do you want to sign up at 343 industries as a networking admin? No? Then shut up.
They’ve clearly outlined what’s happening when people geofilter. Their team found this out. That’s the info we’ve been given.
We have enough backseat devs on this forum. Qe don’t need another one. It’s a simple rule. Don’t geofilter. Wait until they’ve implemented the feature for us and stop whining.
No because they probably can’t pay me as well as my current job, and from what I’ve read they only do 18 month contracts and hardly have any full time employees which is probably why their game is a mess.
Their post is also complete nonsense. The core problem is their system, not geofiltering.
I also personally don’t use geofilter as I’ve never felt the need to. That said, I’m getting the error even with geofiltering off.
hard facts because they dont offer something that is innately in most fps titles, like apex, fortnite, valorant and even halo mcc itself. Like big bruh moment.
This. I have it off. I get the same issue. Steam players are reporting it too. Heck, for fun, I added a geofilter to block out a couple servers and had it connect after (no, I won’t say which ones. Yes, I reported it already).
I would assume that many of these issues can be derived from time constraints and that it’s a lengthy process to develop a game. In addition to this, it should also be noted that pointing out past sins doesn’t make the game better. It’s more a distraction from some of the core issues which are under investigation in accordance to the information provided from this post.

Yes, because 343 is clearly such a reliable source of information, as they have never been caught lying in the past.

We dont just need server selectors. Halo needs more server locations. Montana server please
