Halo Infinite - Update on Latency & Geofiltering

I know a lot of people including myself that are about to switch to another game unless they add geofiltering.

You know whats the biggest problem? Inconsistentcy. I hada games where it feels just perfect, winning most of the duels, not having my reticle all over the place. And then there are games where it just feels awful. Gettting 4 shots before I’m even close to pulling the trigger 4 times.

Both scenarios suck looking at the big picture. When you are just melting people at some point you think if it is even fair.

This was the case in H5 as well, but not even close to such an extend.

Not sure what you did to the game
Now for me the game is virtually unplayable on ranked I can’t get into a game where I have lower then 90 ping
Please fix I play apex just fine so I know it’s not on my end

I’m just going to keep coming back here to keep a record of how long it takes until you fix the game. I’m “playing” games that are 200+ ping. I put that word in quotations because it’s actually borderline unplayable.

I’m not even going to attempt to go near Ranked despite it being the game mode I want to play. Also, I find it really misleading that I can connect to a Tactical Slayer (or any) match instantly for it to be 200 ping. Why wouldn’t it be searching for a match in my region? I don’t think it’s a coincidence you censor numbers and the word “ping” in the team chat either. It’s almost as if you know people will complain about it.

im not gonna touch the game at all aslong as it matches me with people so i get 100+ ms

I am from South east Asia, with geo filtering I have 40MS ping, now you guys are putting me in matchmaking at North America with 250MS ping. What kind of reasoning is that??? 250MS ping for a first person shooter and you call that a better experience?

The reason is simple. US players don’t have to play with you on your 40 ms server.

instead of preventing them to join on your server, they force you to join theirs. Thas how 343 cares about their fanbase outside of the US.

Since the update yesterday most games were putting me on high ping 90+ms servers instead of the usual 20 ping EU servers. Geofiltering is needed to stop this. Longer matchmaking is better than being forced into a full laggy game.

I don’t know if there are just that few people still playing this game or whether the matchmaking system is just utterly broken. But even I’m getting placed in higher ping servers and I’m East Coast US playing at prime time in the evening.

Im constantly getting into games with min 90 ping
It makes the game unplayable and i enjoyable

Im putting the game on hold till they get there servers fixed/get this cheating fixed as well

I’ve gotten the season pass and the fiesta event done as well so I can wait till season two

Good luck for everyone who decides to stay and play

kudos to 343 for patching the only fix of the worst problem of the multiplayer and having absolutely nothing to put in its place.

You don’t get it people. Someone in Brazil playing in US West servers (not even US South) is absolutely essential to the community enjoyment of the game.

You will get this message if you are geofiltering.

If our services detect that a player is geofiltering, that player will receive a message saying, “No ping to our datacenters detected.” Once a player removes their geofilter, this message will go away and they should have no issues queuing into matchmaking

Since beta its only getting worse and worse

Looking for another split-screen shooter, as 343 REFUSES to add cross-platform/input toggle

Yup. But 343i also wrote the following at the bottom…

Please note: If you’ve used any of the methods shared online to block matchmaking servers and you are now unable to revert the change, the Halo Support team will not be able to troubleshoot or resolve the error messages for you.

Reading that, it appears that some may not be able to revert.

so they’re perma banning ppl for geo-filtering?

No. That’s not what that statement says and I’m yet to hear of anyone being banned for having previously used geo filter.

Since the update my average ping has increased. Ive gone from typically having a 13ms ping to now a 40ms ping! I thought it was my internet at first, but its not. I’ve ran into other players with the same experience but nobody is talking about it. Is this a known issue?

If it’s definitely not your internet connection then it just means that you’re no longer connecting to your local server. Where are you based?
