Yep. Halo Infinite is COD MW19 all over again. Back with that game people begged for changes and fixes and Infinity Ward’s outlook was basically it’s our game, go eff yourself.

Well, it’s well explained. In short “The configuration of servers that we have is this and we try to get the best we can from them.”
And my opinion is the same as I said a long time ago, more servers, more powerful, better distributed and with greater bandwidth (but this costs a lot of money).
But I understand that the developers are having a hard time. These servers do not give more than themselves to manage the immensity of data generated by a shooter like Halo at the appropriate speed. Its conception is different, for business management and uploading and downloading documents, databases, photos, images even simple games or games that don’t move too much data and those things where waiting time is not critical. I don’t know who had the great idea to load this on servers that are not designed for this and it didn’t work well in Halo 5
Even so 343, I understand you and I sympathize with you because “what there is, is what there is”.

Played a few games this afternoon. Nothing over 200 which is a positive. Still quite a few over 100.

Also still rubber banding and other weird lag like effects in 30-40ms games.

Also, I’d like to hear more about low populations that are like but not limited to APAC.

The actual population of Europe is around 750M people, about double that of the USA. EU has 2 datacentres, USA has 6 (I think, from what I’m reading on this forum).

Now I know that the player pops probably aren’t anything like related to geographical pops but if 343 are wondering why the EU player pop is low compared to USA and/or declining compared to USA they don’t have to look far to see why. HINT : it’s because of sh!tty connection and matchmaking algorithms as well as infrastructure investment that benefit the US players - some on here have called that sort of benefit the equivalent of cheating.

EDIT : I’m also aware that we are never going to hear anything from 343 or from Microsoft about the actual player pops, except for BS announcements like 20 MILLION PLAYERS!!!, because for a ftp, pop is going to be commercial in confidence, especially if it’s low.

You should start by explaining to them where Europe is. In the American world maps only North America appears, the rest is all water or poor people.

I’m sorry, but there is something seriously wrong with this update. This has not helped Australian players in the slightest, especially in the Ranked playlist. I have been constantly put into lobbies where I have 180+ ping. Even worse, I’m put into 240+ ping lobbies where there’s a red “unstable latency” warning showing up! I can hear people in my lobby that are from USA/Europe even when it shows “connecting to server” immediately after cearching for a match. It’s truly unplayable and I’m so disappointed.

It’s even more of a slap in the face that you talk about rank resetting being imminent. There’s no opportunity to move up because I’m doing poorly in these matches. I get little rank for winning, but I’m punished when it’s 3v4, high latency matches. These matches simply cannot be won and I beg you to simulate this scenario to see if you get any enjoyment out of it.

There’s so much more that’s broken.

You got it spot on with the MCC regional server selection and crossplay options, this should have been the blueprint for future games going forward. Stop taking control away from the player and allow them to play the game how they want.

Hence the reason why anyone outside of US in onyx geo filtered…

We need a server select for the game, as a UK player with highest MMR i get 200+ms games with 800up and down…

Now i can’t select my region (EU) and play on less then 50ms.

This has just ruined the Matchmaking experience for everyone outside of the USA and further constricted the population to NA region, Infinite is now on the downward spiral to MCC numbers.

Infinites release had a CHANCE to bring more EU and OCE players, instead its catered to the same region that ties the game down to sub 10k players.

Everyone outside of USA might aswell quit, in MCC its like this, thought it’d change being that Infinite wanted to be the biggest game. instead dedicated players like myself will just quit.

This is a bit of a “k0nspiracy” theory, but I have a feeling the push for this to be implemented may have come from the more competitive pro side of the player base and streamers. Obviously the HCS teams need to skrim and practice against other Onyx players in MM, but if they are constantly getting server advantage pulled away from them then you can imagine how vocal they would be on the subject…and it wouldn’t be the first time that 343i bend the knee to the HCS scene. Obviously the guy that got banned in HCS caused a lot of media coverage on geo filtering and this was followed up by Tweets from Unyshek replying to iSpiteful (Twitch streamer). Obviously this is just speculation but I wouldn’t at all be surprised if this decision was influenced by and to cater for the pro level players…I’d imagine that you won’t see many of them complaining about it unless it has broken MM in some way for them too.

I’m in UK moderately high Onyx and never geo filtered.

I don’t even look at my ping, I just play the game.

Not particularly, but I look at other people’s Halotracker enough. Suppose it’s only fair.

Well I am glad that you guys are on it. Seems like the people complaining the hardest are the ones who are causing this to happen… dumb. My game is close to perfect again like it was in December. Me and my husband are playing multiplayer on different x boxes on the same wifi and its as good to go.

I got several 230 ping games in a row without geofiltering personally, and I don’t understand a circumstance where it would make sense that someone else could drag me across the ocean to be forced to endure that for the next 30 minutes or else face a matchmaking ban. That is the direct and immediate cause to your problem. I suspect that fireteams also complicate this logic in a way that you haven’t touched on considering that I can get matched into a game and members of my fireteam will be completely left out of. (Are they a mere suggestion that they be put in the game?)

You’re penalizing players by pinging every single one of your data centers when queueing a match because your base matchmaking logic was making backwards assumptions and doing things in the wrong order? You don’t suspect that there will be long term repercussions for making someone’s ability to play your game dependent on every single one of your data centers being up? With your track record regarding BTB?

I’ve disabled everything in WPD, validated my game files, task killed my VPN software which I keep disabled while playing games anyway, removed every entry spybot put in my host file that could possibly be talking to an Azure server and every time I start the game I still get :warning: NO INTERNET. This issue has cropped up several times before and your support site is indifferent, the fact that it goes away is seemingly happenstance because the official response for this classification of issue is always a mere “noted!”.
