F2P games rarely ever have sequels… They typically last 10 years (assuming they are remotely successful) and only end up getting a sequel or revamp due to technical limitations of previous game. For example, Path of Exile is going to have a sequel I wanna say next year, so its been like 10 years by that point.

My point here is to say the only Halo game that could’ve been F2P would’ve been like Halo 4 or Halo 3 (it has to be a game in mid 2000’s earlliest, because before then there were fewer gamers and worse bandwidth and so forth) so really the only other Halo game that could’ve been F2P is probably Halo 5 common sense wise.

I would argue that 343i (in general) does not value progression systems. Halo 4’s was a joke (I wanna say you could hit max rank in a month or so?) and Halo 5 I don’t really recall if it even had all that many rewards for going through its progression system. Nothing new here but still disappointing.

that’s like $25 for 1 month of doing essentially nothing, at that point it would already make the store essentially meaningless to spend any real money on. I’m of the belief that it should be really small, the reason is that most cosmetics aren’t really worth anything to most people, I bought the cat ears yet I have not seen a single other cosmetic that I would spend anything on… So a collector or someone that just wants every single item is an extremely small number of the active population.

Awesome, people are still having problems with their Zeta sky pre-order bonuses though!

So far the Store has been rather lackluster…

What bothers me is that in Halo 5 we had 60 default colors to work with…

In Halo Infinite 343 have us 10, and have been passing off the other remaining 50 as premium content, remember they did say that paid cosmetics are considered Premium Content.

To me that was one of the things that alluded to the cosmetics system. Branching into a further let down.

I noticed a trend ever since Halo 4… They have slowly been stripping away basic features key to Halo, and been reworking then back in as Premium content.

For some reason I have this feeling It was always building up to want We have now… Like they were trying to get us used to being more and more limited, unless we are willing to ay into their economy.

And now… We have them selling us Default colors and on top of that they are reselling us the same color several.tikes by locking them to armor cores.

It’s a sad practice but I honestly think it was predictable and they were grooming the community to be ok with it… or at least trying to at the very least.

No

I definitely don’t want that back for the enemies yes but for teammates no. I Play a lot of cod and it gets annoying in that game. I don’t need another game when I throw my sticky and it gets stuck on my teammate. If they fixed collision for ememies that will be nice but please don’t add back tear collusion

I believe that Fortnite, and Apex, and Warzone put significant and impossible to meet standards for any other F2P game to compete with, let alone a paid one.

What we saw with the mobile gaming industry has now seeped into every corner of gaming and I do not see a scenario in which big MP games that are paid is a viable business model going forward. Gears of War 6 is likely giong to be F2P, Battlefield is already discussing making 2042 into a F2P title… It is the new normal unfortunately.

I’m honestly now just scrolling through game pass and looking into some I doe games now… Those may be the only ones that may generate actual fun without the premium charge.

What gets me is people oh well just play the game to have fun of your don’t like the microtransactions… But it’s like they don’t realize these companies hire team of pychologist to research what stimulates fun through purchases… I Know EA caught so much beat for this but other Devs do the same…

They want you to buy stuff so they purposely design the games to place all the premium and more entertaining items to be behind the paywall… Like Halo is fun without cosmetics but the cosmetics is like the other half of the fun and they knew it … especially when they said it was going to be Reach level customization… They knew that was the hook line and sinker. And than the reveal and after that is was like well guess we have to play game.

Well its the only Halo game that hasn’t made a dime off of me. Wish more people would protest with their wallet

Looking forward to seeing how individual items are handled

I’m “interested” to see how this is going to work. I for one think its a terrible idea. Hopefully, I eat my words, but frankly you guys don’t have the best track record.

Games like CoD can pull off having in game credits because they have a lot more content they can pack into them. They have skins, they have weapon modifications (that actually mess with the meta for those specific guns). Halo has strictly cosmetics. Which is okay, but how many BPs can we do with armors, before things start getting a little…boring?

I’m going to bet that 343 is going to charge around $2 for every piece of individual armor. Not counting visors or any other attachments, that’s $12 (helmet, chest, each shoulder, and each knee). If you can refrain from purchasing anything but that first set, you may do okay…but statistically speaking, many folks will continue to buy as “cooler” items are introduced.

Now, if you use some of those credits to buy armor (or whatever), you’ll have to spend real money the next season to get the battle pass, and they aren’t going to be selling “$8 or $6” credits because you just had to have that teddy bear on your helmet. You’re gonna have to spend $10 to get 2 credits (or whatever your lacking).

What I’m saying is, they are going to get their $10. 1 way or another.

i personally think itd be fair if it was a few credits from kills and badges and something based off the score at the end of a match with negative performance making it give less credits and better performance making it give more, but obviously with more balancing than that

Good things. Thanks for the update. Cant wait for BTB to cone back. There are so many sweaty/ pro game modes but very few fun silly ones so how it’s back asap.

Very interested to see how earnable credits will work in a free to play game. People who play every day will surely earn enough to buy things without any real world money. I assume it’ll be a very low amount, like 5 credits per match.

I worry earnable credits will make cheating a lot worse though.

Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the update;

Fact - well done by encouraging people to spend more money on your game by enticing people with credits… how about news on actual content thats glaringly missing from your game!

Opinion - By the way BTB was bad when it worked how about making that playlist more fun again while you fix it!

I can’t imagine them offering that many credits with the current Battlepass set up as you’d never need to buy a Battlepass again.

They could change the way players buy a Battlepass (eg you can’t buy it with credits) and then any credits you earn will purely be for the store though.

Would be great to have such a post every week

I wonder if you could make a longer statement about body types. There are a LOT of posts about this, and perhaps it could help to have something to refer to.

I am thinking a long time about the fact, that earnable credits are introduced with Season 2s battlepass, which begins in 4 months.

In my personal opinion, it does not make sense to “value the feedback” of the community in 4 months, while the beta-/full release was only 2 months ago.

For me, it seems to be just seems to be a reaction of fear, because there might be a heavy financial loss of not selling battlepasses for season 2 after releasing this season 1 pass with too few unlockable items and the current broken state of the game.

With unlocking earnable credits at the begin of season 2, they secure that enough people have a reason to buy the new battlepass and keep playing the game. The financial losses of the store itself (if there will be some at all) by earnable credits are worth the more sold battlepasses and the higher playerbase, who even could invest more in the store later on.

As long as the model of earnable credits is not introduced, I would not praise it at all. For now, it just looks like a marketing and monetary move without knowing if it is worth it for the player. Combining earnable credits with challenges would even create a bigger “fomo”-model, which is not my understanding of “listening to communities feedback”.

Please adress the real issues of the game like the quality of servers, anticheat, crashes in PC version, desync, region selection, collisions and other technical bugs. We are waiting for this

If you don’t fix the technical issues of the game and get rid of cheaters you might have nobody left to buy those skins and battlepasses.

Hey Team,

  • 3 Sec Countdown
Would love for you too ‘Fix’ the 3 second countdown when you start a search. Why can’t I navigate the UI until those 3 seconds count down? Not only is that a waste of time, it wastes more time when you forget to wait the seconds.

  • Customisation During Search
Can you enable customisation (so we can save changes) during a game search - would be time saving & easier.

  • XP tokens
These are a real pain to use in general, but the last 10-15 minutes or less of an XP token seem to be a waste of time as often the expire before the last game ends. Would be nice if at least the current match you’re in when a token expires counts.

Otherwise, seems like some good progress here! Hope to see some new maps / classic back soon. Cheers

Need to work on consolidating the paints. There should not be a separate item thought with each paint. One paint should work across all weapons and not a separate purchase item for each weapon type. This will be a bigger issue when you start testing out your single item market offerings coming soon. (going to get some more heavy negative reactions if you nickel and dime every individual weapon/vehicle paint)

The new ‘Credits’ earning in battlepass 2 is a good change coming up. BUT you need to look at how Fortnite does their V-Bucks. They offer battlepass V-Bucks earnings that surpass the cost of basic battlepass with added V-Bucks earnings promoting use of them in the marketplace. This draws more market purchase than limiting credits/v-bucks to force purchase for basic battlepass. And creates a buying atmosphere and market usage as a regular activity.

You also need to look at how being able to gift friends items and bundle packages that will have future credit rewards included in them. (again see Fortnite as example) They are leading this value based marketing option above all other games right now. They still have Premium offerings but it is the smaller regular value offerings that bring people to the marketplace first.

I have a bunch of clips of desync or bad internet connections is what i would like to know? It even shows 35 to 40 ms at times but Still says unstable latency; pocket loss. I can send them.
Frustrating at times but gameplay is amazing
