RECONNECTING to a game needs to be a feature. There is already an option to join a friends fireteam when they’re in an ongoing game but it will just make you sit in a lobby til next game. Way more matches have been ruined by game crashes than necessary. It is incredibly irksome to crash, load back in, and just have to sit and wait while your friend plays at a disadvantage in an ongoing ranked match. Or, in a less competitive setting, its just annoying to queue for a BTB, finally get it to work, only to get booted midgame while your other friends continue to play the match without you.
REPORTING in game is also a MUST. Maybe an option to view a players profile from a theatre lobby as well? Because I know there are times where it can feel like you’re against a cheater and people will just jump the gun on the report button without watching the match first or looking up the players stats. But I still think there should be a post lobby report option, as well as an option to do so from theatre. I have ran into several cheaters already and so have many other players but I’m gonna be honest- I’m not editing a friggin highlight reel for a cheater. I am willing to download and submit a theatre match to be reviewed, but unless there is a way IN GAME to quickly throw together clips, I am not editing clips and wasting an hours worth of my time just to report someone who probably will just buy a new account to hack again. Make the hackers work harder. Not TOS abiding players.
There are a lot of other gripes that I share with other players right now but I think these are the most easily addressed right now. Because I know settling desync, random packet loss, armor cores, coloring, custom games, weapon balancing, etc, isnt an easy nor expedient fix. This game has SO MUCH potential its painful. Players are already bleeding but this game certainly has the potential to bring them back because at its core this game is fun. It just needs more content, optimization, love and reverence.
It’s not about Kindergarten. It’s about Creative development. All people aren’t sponges and will leave if they don’t believe in their work anymore. I’m sure if you’re from “the real world” you have experienced the issues with workplace environments and team organization. But that’s not what I’m talking about. It’s people who can’t seem to grasp how programming works and you can’t just “fix” the problem like that. These things take work. Yes Constructive criticism is good. But lashing out like crying babies and making threats to employees as if they did something heinous is not the way to go. So perhaps I’m not talking about you, but those people.
And it’s not the companies, it’s the workers and appreciation for their art. Because in this day and age we do less of that. We also need to understand that things are infinitely complex. For example, Microsoft has invested heavily in this game and had to be CONVINCED by Joseph Staten to delay a Holiday Release by a year. Microsoft is a larger father company that deals in their investments from smaller companies ie. 343 Industries. They reasonably want their returns and even more so they can continue to compete with the likes of Google, Apple, Sony, Facebook(which has Oculus), etc. And this can very well make conflict within 343 and how they want to do things. Then again, the cause can be from something else entirely, we don’t know. There IS a reason why they have been very picky on how they respond to our criticisms of the scuffed store, and we aren’t supposed to know it… because… well business.
But I for one love this game, and I want to support it. I do that by submitting tickets, not buying overpriced customization, and not being toxic.
I think the problem is that so many of the problems are obviously a direct result of incompetence/greed/etc in upper and/or middle-upper management, where the solution isn’t to provide maximum creative freedom and encouragement, but rather to make enough critical noise that they can be convinced to change their minds.
I am sure that there are devs somewhere down the pipeline that spoke up that it was a bad idea to strip out features from previous games. I am sure there are devs who spoke up about needing an account wide progression system. Someone at 343 probably spoke up that charging $10 for blue on a single armor core is not ok. Someone knew that the netcode would be unacceptable trash and they need resources to fix it. This is probably true for all Infinite’s major problems, perhaps with the exception of cheaters - I don’t know how much devs can do about that before the game goes live.
But if the management powers at be respond with “nah, it’ll be fine, our farts smell like roses… Have the PR guys put out some corpo-speak where we promise that there will be a road map for our promises coming soon”, you get rushed, unfinished, buggy games full of obvious problems that the community identifies within 24 hours of launch.
And 343 has done that. Every. Single. Time. That was Halo 4, 5, the MCC, and now Infinite.
Loudly criticizing these sorts of lazy/greedy practices is entirely appropriate. Obviously personal attacks on individuals are never OK, but I’ve not seen much of that here or on reddit. I don’t pay attention to twitter.
Is there any focus on how event progression works? Since I didn’t play for the first week of the fractured event I feel that I will “at least” miss out of 10 of the rewards from the reward track from the event. Also having the event challenges separated from the weekly would make it nicer and easier to work on them as I had 2 days I could not work get the 10th one done as my three challenges required BTB modes and at worse a specific one to get the challenges completed.
Since mcc it feels 343 knows they cant make a good complete game.
So they stretch it out over years knowing halo fans are so loyal they’ll earn their money, just not in the first year.
But eventually they expect everyone to finally cave
It doesn’t matter how many matches they have played. I finally uninstalled this game after putting in almost 200 hours HOPING it would be fixed relatively quickly because this is a major problem. It doesn’t matter if they fix BTB first when the playability is still such a mess.
I’m not coming back to this game for another year because, clearly, they need it. Until then, I’ll just pretend none of the 343 Halos exist (not like they were good anyways).
i cant even get into BTB games by myself, nevermind with parties lol, please get it done as fast as you can 343, i love this game and havent been able to play btb since beta
i have faith in you guys, the future is bright for this game
I understand that demoriasation is a thing and that they have expressed that. this is about holding them accountable for what thewy said about the game before launch. Nothing in game development is done by accident there are many people involved in ever step they knew that the systerms they where doing noone was going to like it yet they did it anyway. they shipped an inferiour product to milk more money out of the community. I have no hatred for the indiviuals but I did have a problem with the people that made these decisous. I am not going to hold back my critisim of a multimillion dollar company espescially when they are selling me a product for my money, I expect to be buying what they are selling not the promise of what they will be selling eventually. The only reason I still have hope is because how well the multiplayer plays and how good the cmapaign was. How they go from MCC one of the best customiation systems of all halos and go to easily the worst is shocking.
Desync is the biggest problem this game has so when will the net code be fixed and then there is getting thrown into 90+ ping games? And what about those hopeless BOTS? When someone leaves a game then find another human player immediately its not rocket science is it?
If you want to fix cheating, let me turn off crossplay.
How about we stop focusing on being a “live service” because all we hear is your greedy microtransactions. Focus on fixing this game.
Something really promising better come out of the update, to include nerfing the AR, otherwise when I get my last two achievements I’ll delete this garbage game.
Okay so what about lag and hit registry issues or optimization of the game? I dunno how big the team is but i would think you’d have multiple diffrent teams working on diffrent problems to get stuff done faster…
With Infinite, it seems like 343 looked at how much content COD puts out in the lifespan of one of its games, which is about 12-24 months, and decided “We’ll do that, but stretch it over 10 years, and we we’ll make all the monetization and progression much worse, and with terrible netcode too”.
I just don’t get it. 343 is always talking about how they need to copy best practices from other industry trends. OK, fine. But then what they actually do is copy things that make no sense for Halo and ignore things that would be awesome for Halo.
I got kicked tonight about 8 times . I’m playing Fiesta and quick play . every one on the map has hammers or a sword or both. Honestly it’s boring . And far from random it seems
