I can agree that many of the trailers for Halo Infinite aren’t particularly good. If we tske the most recent Campaign trailer as an example, they stated everything explicitly instead of conveying the message through implicit means. This äinstead make the trailer feel like an ordinary boring advertisement.
Came in here thinking not sure what to expect, but honestly, I think you’re right. I personally, really liked the Campaign overview, but compared to the ODST and Reach commercials, you’re right, the Infinite trailers do under deliver, but at the end of the day, I’d rather that time/effort/money be put into making the game as polished as possible, also with “Co” restrictions and things, a live action trailer might’ve been more of a hassle.
Okay, but they aren’t trying to be cinematic trailers like the ones you mentioned. That’s like saying this indy drama I watched wasn’t good because it wasn’t like a Marvel film. People wanted campaign footage and gameplay after last years demo and that is 100% what 343 delivered with the campaign overview.
As the game gets closer hopefully we will get some additional trailers with more emotion and impact to get us more hyped. I think the short one they released after the campaign overview was very good. I think it was called ‘Become’, which gave me similar vibes to the Halo 3 ‘Believe’ trailer.
I thought “The Banished Rise” was a really good trailer, but definitely not on the same level as “Remember Reach”. Hopefully we get something like that as we get closer to launch.
I just think that this kind of artistic trailer don’t was part of marketing team plans to infinite. Considering all the hate the game got even before being launched is good have things made simple at this moment.
Werent they all live action trailers?! I personally prefer in game trailers id rather see what the actual gameplay and cutscenes will look like abit like the E3 one they done for halo 4…
or in game cgi trailers like the ones for halo 3 (keeping in mind the one with them as kids in the halo 3 trialer was misleading as it made alot of people think we will see a young john and how he was takem into the spartan programme etc)
Hm, for me I feel like the only reason ‘Remember Reach’ and ‘We are ODST’ are so ‘emotional’, is because we understand the casualty rate. Reach was full of civvies and of course ONI training facilities and it was absolutely decimated in the Covenant’s wake. We are ODST shared us the point of view of someone who lost a friend or family member, who then went on to become the very thing they lost likely for revenge. To take the fight to the Covenant.
Infinite isn’t like that, we know there are civilian lives on the line, and we know a lot of soldiers have likely died, likely a lot of scientists too. But we’re not looking at untold civvie deaths. We’re not seeing from the perspective of someone who lost someone close to them. We’re fighting against another army, against new foes, all with humanity’s survival on the table. So it makes sense that the feel of the reveal takes on a more Halo CE - 3 emotional level. Cracking jokes and being serious where it needs to be.
That’s because you’re comparing a campaign overview to a live-action cinematic trailer.
Given the turbulent nature of Infinite’s development, and the delay, its likely that Microsoft’s marketing strategy isn’t going to be just a copy/paste of previous games.

I’m sure a live action trailer will come near the realese day. But this Trailer is pretty good, in my opinion.

This. I’ll 100% take in-game footage any day over some flashy live action trailer. Obviously the 3, Reach ,ODST stuff was awesome, but considering 343’s track record, I’d rather them focus on the game than trying to be hollywood. They let their game do the talking for them, and I can respect that.

I adore halo 3’s launch trailer in the sand with bubble shield. Halo 5’s was pretty dope also but I completely agree with you on this. At the same time though atleast it’s real footage of the game.

Agreed!
Comparing the ads for Infinite to Halo 3 or Reach it’s clear that there is something lacking.
I felt like the very first announcement trailer was pretty great, it made me pretty stoked about the game. Even Discover Hope felt okay, and the campaign teaser that introduced the weapon had the right vibes and music for me.
This most recent campaign overview felt really silly to me. The voice over was incredibly cheesy, as well as the lines we heard from the game.
They should definitely ramp up theatrical trailer production ahead of launch, but I didn’t find any disappointment with the gameplay-oriented trailers. I just thought they were cool.

The most recent campaign footage wasn’t supposed to be an advertisement trailer, it was meant to showcase campaign gameplay.
