Now, as we all know, Halo Infinite’s Gameplay trailer released a little less than a month ago. Everybody was concerned about the graphics, but something that really confused me was when people talked about how bad the phantom looked and why it didn’t have an “original look”. For people who have never played Halo Wars 2, or haven’t purchased The Arbiter from the Icons of War pack, then Google what the Arbiter’s phantoms looks like. If you pay close attention to the tails on both phantoms, you will probably notice that they both have four tails, very different from The Covenant’s, with only two . Also, the phantom doesn’t have the original design, because as Isabel explained, the Banished wanted nothing to do with the Covenant, therefore producing different looking vehicles, including the Phantoms.

I think a bigger part of the problem is its janky animation.
Also, the barely visible textures on objects don’t play well with the banished’s aesthetic, which is already pretty blocky. They rely on wear and tear and a lot of small, overlapping plates, to give things detail.
The janky animation doesn’t help for sure, but the model itself looks like they took the lower-quality RTS Wars2 model and just upscaled it. If these are supposed to be battle-salvaged, pieced-together contraptions, they should have a LOT more detail than what we saw. Dirt, grit, panels of different colours all pieced together. We should see quite a bit more than simple geometry with the same colour scheme.
if i’m being honest i thought it looked really flat compared to the older designs and I’d say the ones in halo wars 2 looked better I mean heres the concept art of one which looks great with the curvature, the underbelly and the shell with great colour and detail design then theres this jankly flying around on auto pilot.
Looks similar to the Halo Wars 2 design to me.

It looks like they put the keyframes of animation in, but didn’t bother to smooth out the curve in between. Something that would be a VERY easy fix.
