Everyone is saying to me that the marine in the trailer has a better back story than locke. Please get back to me anyone and tell me your thoughts.
Its the depth of loss and personal reflection that everyone can relate easily to this mysterious man easier than Locke. We knew Locke from his backstories and his objective. There was no way for us to relate to Locke or even be somewhat as interested into him as we all are the Chief; Chief has a mysterious persona to him despite the constant times we’ve played as him.
Its crazy to think that we don’t even know this marine’s name yet and he is as you say more developed and interesting than Locke was.
I kinda hope Locke makes a return though. I love the actor that played him and he is a character in lore, it doesn’t make much sense with how we ended in Halo 5 for him to just not make a return even for a little bit.
I’m confident that Locke will return. Regardless of how people feel about his personality, he’s still a Spartan and right now Chief’s gonna need as much help as possible.
It’s only been a trailer and I already love the personality, the backstory and journey this man has shown so far. And each point has had very little touched on and yet infinitely more than Locke himself in such a short time.
I think they added him to set an emotional tone.

I don’t know, this “soft reboot” language makes me think they (rightly) want to ignore and move past as much as Halo 5’s story as they can.

Sure. They can’t discard the entire story, but they can kill off Locke and ignore Blue Team.
Idk how, but 343 has managed to make a trailer so good that some of the lost halo community is coming back
There is something missing in the new trailer. The first agent that we see in the trailer has short bread but the second one has long bread can anyone tell my what is happening ?! Are they different persons ? Or there is a long time like 1 month between 2 cuts in the trailer witch seems impossible cuz when the circle talking thing drops it starts to play, Or maybe it plays for a long time like a month and this one is impossible too cuz when the camera is turning in 360 degrees in the ship we have to see the drop man witch we don’t. Can anyone tell me what is exactly happening in the trailer ??!! 
I got some serious Tony Stark vibe from the Marine in the trailer. The hologram, the bleak outlook on it.
And, the time jump which is evident as the camera swings back to him was really cool. Shows how long he’s been out there.

We are seeing the holo-vid for the first time play all the way through , but he is watching it many times over the course of our play through of it , and there is a time jump from the beginning to when he gets the alert from the friend/foe detector.

I agrree that locke should return i also love the actor, and if he is in infinite and we play as him please 343 he should have some flash back cutscenes.

As long as they fight beside each other people would love to get to no him

If they killed locke of i think it would be a mistake they should use him a decent amount so players can start connecting to him, but all thoughts aside i really like your guys opinions.

I agree i think if 343 use locke they need back flashes kinda like chief in H3 just to link the players with the character.

yeah, I liked it when chief reacts to cortana’s death and how chief needed to get cortana fixed. I think that went well in halo 4 but in halo 5, they did it terrible
Locke didn’t have any emotions. None of the characters in Halo 5 did except Cortana. Kind of ironic.
Dustin Echoes could possibly be like a CE Johnson in terms of how often he appears and possible more depending on how they develop him.
