Halo Infinite should totally have the option for third-person gameplay. That’s not to say they should remove first-person, I actually think it would best if they had the option to switch between the two (kind of like the recent Star Wars Battlefront games).
I know it’s kinda betraying the classic FPS feel of Halo (that’s why it’d be nice for it to be optional), but what’s the point of putting all this time and effort into making your spartan (and elite, maybe, I dunno) look awesome if you’ll only be able to see it when you get killed/using vehicles? Do you just show off how cool you look? What if you think your spartan is really cool-looking, but everyone else thinks different?
Take Halo 4 for example, remember when that game introduced the Fotus armor? A lot a people actually liked it very much! It’s just that people like me think it looks like a stuffed unicorn wrapped in a rotten melon. The only people who really like it are the ones who use it, but they rarely ever get to see themselves (and most people they’re playing with thinks it looks ‘weird’, I guess). Do you get my point?
I appreciate Halo 4/5, making it to where when assassinating enemies and using most abilities show you in third person, but I’d still like to see more of my spartan actually in action. Not just in certain scenarios.
It would give players in 3rd person an unfair advantage by allowing them to look around corners and walls without exposing themselves. And like you said, it negates the whole point of Halo being a first person shooter. The only way I think it should be implemented is as an option in custom games, and that’s it.
Well Halo is made as an first person shooter and I don’t think that they would suddenly introduce Halo with an 3rd person…and really I don’t think that Halo needs 3rd person

Agreed, for multiplayer third person would take away from the core experience way too much. A lot of people didn’t like the advanced movement in H5 let alone having third person involved.
Do I want to change one of the game’s defining core mechanics into something completely foreign just so that some people can get to admire their virtual clothes? Absolutely! I can’t see any way how this could possibly go wrong.
Open-World…RPG…Third-person…Maybe I’m unimaginative but I don’t see why some fans are so keen on Halo changing its core identity. There are other games out there.
If you want to see your Spartan, which I understand, you use Theater.

Spin off with obsidian, play as anyone kill anyone, explore the halo universe.
Its ok OP. I support your suggestion. May I suggest putting it in certain select gamemodes. Cuz I know very well alot of people are not gonna like it in competitive for sure. Perhaps I can see that 3rd person halo could actually work in more casual gameplay…
Clearly there are issues with 3rd person as many have mentioned that you can see around walls with it. I think we can fix that with focal rendering owo. But i know ALOT of people arent going to like that. (basically you can only see what your character sees… + yourself… maybe have everything else blacked out by a fog of war kinda thingy… or simply have it blurred enough that its quite difficult or even impossible to see whats around the corner)
As long as its an option in non competitive thou why not.
Personally ill be sticking to first person thou. But the third person idea gives me gears of war vibes thinking about it.
I am not opposed to third person, but I do not think it should be in multiplayer matchmaking. I think third person would work in campaign or custom games.

But the Halo universe isn’t established like that. It isn’t Star Wars.
Maybe if they did player intros like Halo 5 style, but made it more of a show of the players’ armor before the match or after, I’d like that infinitely better than 3rd person being in the game. 3rd person I feel takes away from the immersion (campaign), limits stealth gameplay in multiplayer since you can kinda see behind you, and it would also bring on some weird camera issues like when you are up against a wall. Halo is just meant… i guess… to be an FPS.
The option to toggle 1st or 3rd assassinations would be absolutely awesome though
