So, there’s a thing that I still do not understand. Is the Harbinger a Xalanyn or and Endless?
A few times she’s appears to imply that she’s Endless by saying “my species” in reference to the Endless, but I think she may collectively be using this to group Xalanyn and Endless together as they appear to both be species that received harsh treatment for the Forerunners and deemed “too dangerous”. This is why they weren’t going to be re-catalogued post Halo array firing, and why they were locked up on Zeta Halo. But all in all, I’m afraid we still don’t truly know, but it is leaning on the Endless side (despite what I think) based on what we know from in-game, or Endless and Xalanyn are different names for the same species.

If you read the description of the final mission on the Tac-Map after you beat the game, it specifies that the Harbinger is a member of the Endless and that it’s her species. When playing through the campaign, I got the idea that the formal name for the Endless is the Xalanyn

That was my takeaway.
Every race of the Covenant had a name given to it by the UNSC, but also had its own name, such as Elites and Sangheili.
I think Endless was the name potentially given to them by the Forerunners, perhaps due to their ability to not be ‘ended’ by the Halo ring, but that Xalanyn is their official native name.

Her open Cylix (right before getting on the surface of Zeta Halo) carries a different symbol from the ones in the post credits scene though.

I think the skrimmer, the Harginger and the endless are the same specie but not the same race
