Halo Infinite Tech Preview Feedback

PC, STEAM Player

Cons / Issues:

  • items that I had unlocked in the battle pass had to be re-equipped a few times. - menu would get stuck in the customization section and not go back to the main screen with your spartan standing next to a pelican. - I could not figure out how to change my icon or name plate, but I am sure it just was not available. - Navigating through the battle pass, items were not displayed in the small preview squares but showed up as you moved to it. - Sometimes when changing cosmetics the spartan would disappear completely. One thing that is disappointing is during the trailers for Infinite it was stated that almost everything cosmetic is acquired through game-play, but in this preview you can just buy levels with credit as well as other skin packs and armor sets. It just doesn’t sit well with me and I m sure a lot of others feel that way, it takes away from the rarity or stature gained from having specific armor pieces. If someone can just buy their way to cosmetics then whats the point in even playing for them. Much like Apex legends, it creates an over saturated market of mediocre skins that no one really cares about. Halo 3 and Reach both had very specific things and achievements you needed to accomplish in order to get armor. When you saw Hyabusa or Recon you knew what that person had gone through it to obtain them, the dark cloud in reach meant that that player was a force to be reckoned with in MP.

Pros:

  • Game play was very well done, guns feel gritty rather than feeling like nerf guns from the past two installments. - The Comando is well done and competes with the AR, but I am still missing that DMR type gun from reach, semi auto but packs a punch. - New personal AI was very enjoyable, and listening to spartan chatter gave the game more life. - The grapple is a great addition as it ads more vertical combat to be fleshed out. - Bots are good and test you but are beatable. - Never had server issues - movement is nice, sliding can’t be abused, and clamber is consistent. - The amount of customization allows the Spartan to feel very personable.I am very excited for Infinite as it brings back the gritty military style that Halo has done so well in the past, I’m not knocking 4 or 5 but it just felt like the aesthetic didn’t match the intensity of the story. This Tech preview brought back many good memories but also allowed me to feel a brand new experience that I enjoyed thoroughly. I am looking forward to future flights and the eventual release. My only hope is that cosmetics aren’t over saturated and actually carry weight when seen wearing specific items.
  • > - I could not figure out how to change my icon or name plate, but I am sure it just was not available.

Yeah, that area was grayed out. I think everyone got assigned those items at random and any customization wasn’t exposed.
If it helps, I saw all the same bugs/glitches with the customization items that you did, and I’ve seen a lot of similar feedback elsewhere. Those areas were definitely the roughest parts of the test.

To get the nameplate you had to download a flight halo waypoint app that’s created for infinite. The app is over now but yea through there the option was open to mess with your emblem and backdrop.
