Halo Infinite straight up continues from Halo 3

So I was contemplating the Halo Timeline and how much Halo 4 and 5 sucked compared to the previous games, when I had this theory come into my head like a lightbulb. Halo 3 ends with Master chief in space. No more covenant no more flood. In Infinite Master chief is found in space rubble and was evidently attacked by the Banished in a ship of some kind. My theory is that the ship he was attacked in was the Forward Unto Dawn after UNSC found him, but was intercepted by Banished forces. My Theory is that 343i might actually make Halo 4 and 5 non-canon. Now Halo 4 and 5 were poorly written and experienced extreme backlash from fans and average gamers. Let’s be honest, those games pale in comparison to Halo 3. Another factor that supports my theory is Master Chief’s “new” armor, it’s the same armor as Halo 3. I believe that is a sign because 343i wants to remake the glory of the old Halo games. And I’m doing so, they cut out the created and promethean forces from any trailers or media related posts on Halo Infinite. 343i might be creating a favorable timeline for fans to enjoy. A few other factors are where Chief is in the beginning. Floating aimlessly in space, just like In the end of Halo 3. Just a quick fact in all of the reclaimer saga previous, we never set foot on a halo ring. Now we are practically living on one in Halo infinite.

thanks for reading. This is just a theory and a very unsubstantiated one at that. Put in the comments what you think!

No matter what people say about Halo 4 and Halo 5: Guardians they are very much canon and will not be over written considering Halo: Shadows of Reach follows on from Halo 5: Guardians and Halo: Divine Wind follows on from that.

And the whole cortana went evil so chief deployed the weapon to fight her thing?

The armor hud in the trailer clearly making it clear its new armor.

This theory doesn’t hold water. We’re just on a halo ring in similar armor because 343 has been badgered for a decade to make it happen, so they did.

Thanks for the laughs!

343 have openly said many of times it will continue the story from halo 5 while also being a “spiritual reboot” unfortunately as much of a train wreck as it was halo 5 will still exist and the events that took place in halo 5 will still be Canon for halo infinite

It will continue at least some of the threads from 4,5 they are still canon, but they’re also putting new things like the banished in focus while also returning to the classic art style. It’s clear that 343 want to recall Bungie’s classic work more than their own recent work.

It’s a nice touch that Infinite might start with Chief out in space as if it’s a redo of 4 but that’s because it’s a spiritual reboot and that makes for a nice little detail and reference, it’s not literally wiping the last games from canon lmao.
