Halo Infinite story speculation

Master Chief, Cortana, and Dr. Halsey all die.
New main protagonist will be Luke Cage…errr
Locke, with a new A.I. replacing Cortana for Halo 7.

Please no. I’d be fine with Chief, Halsey, and Cortana kicking the bucket as long as they did it in a respectful way. They’ve had a good run and their story has to end eventually, well at least Chief and Halsey’s do. Just don’t replace Chief with Locke. Even if they miraculously turned him into a better character, H5 was our first impression of him and first impressions count big time. I think it’d be better to have a new character or at least different character take his place if they are going to have an official replacement.

Hopefully they retcon 4 and 5 completely and go back to a story line that actually worked.

Im for time travel.
(But like for the last 2 seasons for game of thrones, we arent going to get it :persevere:)

Bring back the flood! This forerunner story lacks quality.

Way to early to kill Chief. Halsey maybe. But not Chief. Killing all of Blue Team would be more appropriate with the exception of Chief. I can see a lot of characters dying. But killing Chief before revealing a very capable replacement would make zero sense. I can see Chief dying in Halo 7. But Halo Infinite would be a bit early. It also would kind of kick a few books and expanded lore in the teeth. A common sentiment in the books is “Spartans Never Die.” They are always “MIA” and killing the Chief in a launch title of a console would basically kill that console real quick.

I agree. There’s no real reason to buy a scorpio imo if halo infinite kills the chief.
Which comes out first, the scorpio, or halo infinite?

Ummmm. Scorpio came out in 2017. Scarlett, however, comes late 2020. We theorize mid november. I specificly believe November 15th. But that is a pure guess.

Whoops, lol. My bad. So SCARLETT probably comes out before Infinite.
People get the new console Scarlett in anticipation of h6, and 343 kills the chief and the aforementioned characters. Wow.
Could that really happen?! No way.

I disagree. It’s all about how they’d do it for me. I don’t think Chief dying would doom the console, that’s a little exaggerated.

Another question is who is the new threat to the unsc for infinite?

What do you mean for sure he’s dead? What am I supposed to be reading there, I only see the console and Hellblade 2.

As far as enemies go, besides Prometheans, there’s Flood and the Banished. Besides them I guess they’d have to make another new threat.

I’m pretty sure 343 left off right where bungie was going. Maybe they went in a different direction but it all made sense. The end of halo 3 the Forward Unto Dawn was seen going towards a planet that started lighting up. So halo 4 makes sense. Halo 5 was out of the “fine” zone in the story. But if infinite can make Halo 5 make sense and have a story of its own. Halo 5 is going to seem like a less bad game.

Side note…Im really am impressed with the new xbox. Cant wait for the next elder scrolls.
Im guessing that chief, cortana, and halsey all die, with a new main enemy, and locke taking over the franchise. Much faster game mechanics too.
Just my guesses, since scarlett will be out before infinite, or released at the same time.

While that is true that first impressions matter the most, I think that only counts for actual living beings. The reason a first impression is the most important, is because it’s how we gauge how others act normally. Because that’s how we expect the person to act around us initially. So if the first impression is poor, we avoid the person because we’re under the impression that’s how they always act and we don’t want to be associated with people like that. With games and characters, the character can be rewritten without consequence to the character themselves (meaning unlike living, breathing human beings, characters don’t perceive a difference and there would be no conflict in the characters actions or behavior because the character perceives it always simply was that way.).

Spartan Locke/Agent Locke/Locke the ONI Spook, whatever you want to call him, can be an incredibly well written character that you grow to love. But he needs the correct writer to do that for him. He can’t be a better character on his own because he needs a creative mind to give him life. This is why I don’t hate Locke, Tanaka, or Vale. Because they can’t make themselves better characters, they’re at the mercy of the creative team.

However, I will agree, even if Locke was the greatest character ever since Master Chief himself, I’d rather someone like Jerome-092 to take the stand with Isabel. He’s kinda funny and I love Red Team to bits.

Same here if they can reach what they’re claiming I’ll be very happy. Don’t care for the name, hope it doesn’t cause confusion, but I love the look.

I don’t know who’s gonna die but I think we’re gonna have Prometheans and Flood as the enemies this time around. They need to wrap up the Created stuff specifically, and then we can focus on the Banished moving forward maybe.

I agree about the mechanics, I just can’t see a world where they go back to classic gameplay, at least not for the mainline series.

I’m hoping it’s a simultaneous launch, will be hype as -Yoink-.

I think people are more stubborn about fiction than you think. I’m willing to bet that even if Locke was in Infinite and a far more interesting character than in H5, people who previously hated him would not like him as much as they probably would if he hadn’t had a bad first impression on them in H5. For that reason alone I think they shouldn’t use him as a replacement. To be honest, I don’t think Chief should get any replacement in the traditional sense. I think it’d be really cool if after Chief’s story is done, each game therefore would use different characters, everyone fighting their own battles. Maybe one game would focus around Locke, maybe one Jerome, and so forth.

I’m not saying people are not stubborn, nor am I saying that people can just accept the change. But that proves my point; people look to first impressions as a means to approve or disapprove of the person they are interacting with. Characters can change at will depending on who writes them, people don’t do so as easily.
