Halo Infinite Spring 2022

Y’all honestly deserve more time. It took like 3 years to build the very engine the game is running on, Slipspace, and then you’ve had to essentially build two versions of the game, one for pc and one for console, and Covid took a huge chunk out of your development time. I mean c’mon, why should anyone even expect you to release it now? It’s insane. I say you deserve at least another half year to develop it and make it the launch you want it to be. I know y’all hate this, and I think that with the cards you were dealt, you’ve done the best you could. And the decision to delay forge to perfect campaign and multiplayer at least is one I can respect. I just love the sound of a Spring release date at this point. Anyone else?

I say let the dev team decide within reason. If they are confident with Q4 2021, I’m game. If not, totally understandable. Probably why there hasn’t been an official date.

It took more than 3 years. Try 5. The game is fine to release. Most people don’t even use forge and co-op sucks however that is not a reason to delay it 4 months.

That’s a very bold claim, one I would heavily argue as false. The large amount of disappointment the community is facing atm is proof of that.

It’s not a bold claim at all. The majority of players who play Halo never touch Forge much less use it more than a few times. The fact that you think it’s a bold claim tells me you are isolating your thoughts to the Halo community and not the launch player base. Casuals (the majority) love co-op however most play it single player the first run through.

No, 2 years was them working on the engine, they’ve only been working on Infinite for about 3 years. But I do agree, the game is fine to release as is. Forge and co-op are much loved portions of the game, but they do not make it up as a whole. The game will be fine for a few months without them. The only time I find it acceptable/necessary to delay a game is if it does not seem functional.

What statistics do you have to back it up? How do you know that a vast minority are the only users of Forge and Co-op?

It’s okay if you disagree the importance, if you don’t like forge, or don’t use Co-op, that’s your business and I respect it. But I don’t think you speak for everyone here.

An art designer who worked with 343i confirmed that last year the engine wasn’t finished when the demo dropped hence the lighting issues

I don’t recall them mentioning the engine, just that they hadn’t added the lighting to full effect.

I love both modes and I am saddened that this will be happening however I understand why for a technical standpoint.

They have plenty of data points that show most if not all games with co-op are played single player if able. The forge point is obvious. Do you think the player base that plays only the campaign and a bit of multiplayer touches Forge mode? The majority play for a week or two and then move on to a different game.

I’m not a casual gamer… and halo is important to me specifically for Coop.

They stated systems were not online for the engine.

I’ll have to go back and rewatch that or find our where this was mentioned again. Because I don’t recall it, but I’ll look.

Maybe not now, but that’s a product of the times. The goal is to get forge back where it was. I think the customs browser in Halo 5 did a lot for forge, and I enjoyed it heavily. I think forge is really important and I’d like to see it done well upon launch. I’m glad they’ve chosen to delay it at least

Well of course let the dev team decide. I’m not dictating anything, just my expression of emotions about this issue. Problem is, I’m not sure if it is the dev team deciding this. I heard tell on another thread that it was Microsoft’s decision likely that they don’t have more time, but that could be false. In any case, I just wanted to express the opinion that they have every right to ask for more time to make this game

Based on the majority of the overwhelming complaints and the majority of fans requesting for it to be delayed I’d be surprised if 343i don’t. After what happened with the Halo 5 launch disaster I would hope 343i have learnt from their mistakes and delay Infinite till 2022 and if it’s still not ready then delay it till 2023. It’s bad enough that this game is going to be an annoying ‘live service’ game but they need to get the launch right or it will hurt the Halo IP further.

More than likely, like cyber punk, it’s the suits and investors getting antsy. They just need to calm down. I get how 343i needs to have something but the gamer in me just wants a feature complete game and I’m willing to wait longer if that’s the case.

I mean, he changed the text to bold, so technically it is a bold claim.

Sorry I had to.

Delaying Forge only makes it better too. They can also isolate it more in flights for improvements.

This makes it even more shocking that they would even think to try to release it this early. When you put everything into perspective, they’ve had zero time. They deserve more time, and I will give it to them happily
