Halo Infinite Spartan Abilities

Which Spartan abilities would you like to see in the next halo? Or do you not want spartan abilities at all?

I want NO SPARTAN ABILITIES. Doubt I’ll get what I want but a man can dream, right?

None at all.

I want a new Spartan Ability to be added, Wall Running.
Lol just kidding.
None of them should return.

If thrusters count as one then I’d say I’m ok with them back. Sprint animation, sliding, ground pound, spartan charge, especially ADS style zooming and clamber need to go. Clamber I could maybe be convinced to keep, but I feel a double jump tied into thrusters makes much more sense then clamber.

Edit I’m also ok with the hover affect, but again I don’t know if you count that as an ability or not.

None that seperates Combat & Movement. This means the Sprint Animation, Clamber, GP, Sliding and SC and the ADS that was present in H5 - seriously, shooting with the magnum in H5 is so annoying, classic zoom is way more comfortable for me.

I share Dead Ends opinion, if it has to be, I can live with something similiar to thrusters and eventually Double Jumps, but I’m not really a fan of it. I can also live with more than one BMS, but as already said -NO Sprint Animation-

I feel like they should keep thrusters clamber and stabilize sure it’s not the easiest to use but i feel like it makes the game more competitive n stuff. Or they should have a thing like arena and social then tap that’s like “OG warfare” or something like that so everyone stays happy yanno?

I agree. If there was no sprint, keeping thrusters, stabilize, clamber would add so much depth. Thrust is really useful. I think the controls just need to be more accessible, without the need for paddles on a controller and stuff. I liked H5 mechanically. Full on classic feels slow and not complex enough now. The perfect balance is somewhere in between H5 and H2/3.

Alternatively, If you had no clamber then jump height would have to increase to compensate. Back to that more “floaty” type feel. Imagine increased jump height AND keep thrust now that would be floaty like anti gravity. I trust that many options are being tested.

I agree, however i feel like the sprint makes the game more fast paste and it makes you move around the map more quickly and effectively if the jump height were increased i feel like their should be a double jump

Gonna say a hard no on any and all enhanced mobility. If Infinite is trying to rekindle the spirit of this franchise and return to its roots, then enhanced mobility needs to go.

A big NO for Spartan abilities, preferred to have Sprint and basic movement, none of that Dodge Duck Dip Dive & Dodge stuff

  1. No, it does not.

  2. There are tons of other ways to move more quickly and most of them won’t force you to put down your weapons.

How’d you get around quicker?

Higher BMS, Vehicles, Man Cannons, Teleporters, portable Equipment we’ve already seen like portable gravity lifts and new ones.
And another important thing: Dynamique Map Elements into the playable geometry, like…

  • Elephants on Sandtrap (Halo 3) - Conveyors on Elongation (Halo 2) - Elevators / Gravity Lifts on Ivory Tower (Halo 2) & Construct (Halo 3) - Extendable Bridge on Longshore (Halo 3) - Wheel on Zanzibar (Halo 2) & Last Resort (Halo 3)…to name a few.

Taking those as an inspiration and think about new ones

  • Maybe a crane in the center of a map that rotates? - Or a train like we had on a map called “Terminal” in Halo 2 - but instead of splattering everyone, you would be able to get into the train, shoot and move through the map quicker. - A driveable scarab, or something similir to the control room in H2 (with rotating platforms)There are tons of ways to make map movement more interesting with things like this.
Benefit from the Halo Universe, as well as things we see in Real Life (like the example with the crane) - It’s all up to creativity.

Nope, no Spartan Abilities at all. Increase movement speed and jump height and/or make armor abilities pickups in the game to add upgrades and gameplay variation - essentially like equipment in Halo 3, but make them not as transient, but at the same time, not permanent.

As Daek mentioned, the map itself can help with traversing a large map - man cannons, gravity lifts, turning wheels, conveyors, teleporters, etc.

I’m gonna be the odd one out and say I don’t mind thrusters or sprint, but the slam should go I think.

They can increase BMS while keeping sprint a thing as well, sprint could serve as a literal trailblazer ability, while keeping high BMS like in Halo 2. Also keep the no-recharge while sprinting mechanic, that was a very smart move to balance sprint.

Thrusters I simply enjoy throwing myself around.

Mind you I’ve been playing Halo since the Halo Triple Pack launched on the original Xbox. I’m not opposed to adding new mechanics that weren’t in old games. If you want to play something like the old games, MCC exists.

Mind you that no one here is opposed to add new things to Halo.
If you want to play something like old games, Halo 5 exists.

So what’s the issue with Sprint and Thrusters? As long as the game has high BMS, Sprint would serve strictly as a traversal tool. It doesn’t have the insane escape potential it had in Halo 4, so I find Sprint to be fairly balanced in 5. In 4, the key strategy was to run away any time you were shot at first. That doesn’t work in 5 at all.

Thrusters add an extra layer in 1-on-1 encounters. Sure, you can use it to escape, but you can just as easily use it to chase down and punish.

Maybe you should try to read the other posts too, before pointing out that everyone who doesn’t like the sprint animation should play MCC in a disrespectful way.

What most Sprint Supporters don’t get is that sprint is not an evolution, it is a big change in terms of gameplay. And people are free to critisize changes, because not every major change is accepted by the community.
And it’s not just about Multiplayer, the same thing goes for the campaign too.

There is something called “run & gun”, this means that your gun is up almost all the time.
Halo 5 is the exact opposite of that, where you are constantly forced to put down your weapons if you want to traverse the map effectively.

  • Running at top speed = Sprint Animation = Put your gun down - Clamber = Put your gun down - Healing at top speed = Not possible - Reloading your weapons at top speed = Not possibleSo, it has absolutely nothing to do with people not beeing open to new things. It’s about preference.

Similar to the vision (not execution) of H5, Id like there to be a skill gap in movement for Halo Infinite. Imo it adds more depth to classic gameplay.

I’ve detailed why and elaborated on other related arguments here.
