Halo Infinite Should've been delayed another Year

I don’t know how many other people feel about this idea but it is something that I feel like should’ve happened. Currently, Infinite is fun gameplay wise, Campaign to me was amazing. But there are many things lacking and missing that makes this feel like another Halo 5 launch. There is no forge, no co-op, and certain game modes aren’t even within the game itself. Plus the lack of free armor for people to customize is pathetic. If anything, all Mark VII armor should be free as it is the base core given to all players.

Not having co-op campaign isn’t fun. My second play through I wanted to play with my friend. The closest thing we got was playing campaign side by side. Yes, you’re exploring Zeta Halo together but at the same time you’re not. Campaign was interesting to play solo, it was a unique experience. But most people get more enjoyment when playing with their friends or family. It’s like playing multiplayer in many games. Multiplayer by yourself isn’t that enjoyable. Unless you’re the type of person who likes to play alone.

Forge… one of the biggest features that should’ve been in the game from the start. There are so few maps in Infinite that map rotation makes you play the same map, 2, 3, 4 sometimes 6 times in a row. I’ve seen a lot of user created content that is fun to play and doesn’t take some forgers long to make. Having those forges help make stuff for matchmaking would’ve been great. But we won’t see that until next year. Plus, custom games, people are very limited. Being forced to play on the few selected maps, trying to make their own game modes. with the settings they have.

Game modes, why are there so few and why are we forced to play certain ones in playlists? MCC made the perfect system for us to choose what we want to play. I’ve read the article for why this change was made, so that certain game modes wouldn’t be dead at launch. Okay? There are people who love certain modes and if this game attracts new people they may love those modes that other people rather not play.

This game is fun, but has a lot of stuff missing from it. Also, the maps are fun but they aren’t that fun where I want to play them over a thousand times. Haven’t had a map like that since Reach. If there was one bit of advice I would give to map building, Bungie said this in an old ViDoc, “It’s Pretty obvious to us that when we start working on these maps. That they have to be fun for 100th, the 200th, 1000th time.” “If it’s not fun in the first 5 minutes we put it down.” And I had one of those moments already. If there was another delay, it would’ve given time for us to help test, give feedback, time for more maps to be built, and more things for players to enjoy.

If they delayed it another year, they would have released it exactly the same, then wait for people to tell them what was wrong then fix half of it and leave the other half, same as now.

The truth is, they need the community to scream at them, they love it really, like a little s&m party, because they have no clue.

Honestly, we’re over a month in and still the littlest of things like the scoreboard being wrong is still not fixed.

If they’d have released a year EARLY they may have fixed some stuff now & released dog and bunny ears to go with the cats :slightly_smiling_face:

Ever see this video showing the difference between them and Bungie? Came out in 2016 but it’s still a smack in the face. Bungies main focus is fun, 343’s has been competitive and all that HCS crap.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6qfx9eoB-88&t=49s

They just should have made the game in a better way.
Bungie was able to bring excellent games all 3 years.
343i brought a broken game after 6 years.
It seems they have a lot of problems inside the company. In that case, it would have had no sense to delay it again.

Even further it seems, 343i does not understand their own game-eingine. So much is broken.

Halo Infinite might be the best halo since Reach, but it is far from the glory of the past days.

500 Mio Dollars and 6 years does not make a good game.

It wouldn’t have really made any difference because 343/Microsoft’s plan was to cut content out of the game, dreep feed it but drag out what they do release out as long as they can to milk the player base as they sell it a piece at a time.

It’s a pric* move but what can anyone do about it?
Seriously, look at what is actually cut out of the game that they made sure this game was about milking players.

  1. No rec points or any form of currency at all that can be earned just by simply playing the game.
  2. The overpriced items sold through the shop.
  3. Using items from Halo Reach as bait.
  4. RNG challenges
  5. RNG drops
  6. The battle pass.
  7. Not even one single piece of armor in the armor locks
  8. A Barbone open would

This so-call Halo was not built to be a game, it was built to get players to open their wallets with a hell of a lot of false promises to get players on board with the battle pass/pre-orders. This is the worst release in Halo’s history, and to top it 343 had the balls to have the CM tell half-truths to pass off their "need’ for the BS new model.

Content would still be missing even if they delayed it another 5 years.

This is intentional. Typical GaaS model, slowly add content to the game to generate interest and bring people back in.

The campaign is good though and came out right

The way I see it, Infinite’s team just really need to be schooled into making a Halo game.
H4 was already a sore subject, but when they went ahead and “did what they wanted” they made the abomination that was H5.

Bringing back Joe Staten was a great choice because at least he got the story and pacing back on track, but they really need someone to come in and school them on what makes Halo great. They need to grab the MCC team and host remedial lessons for their entire Dev team.

MCC team at least knows what works and what doesn’t.
Even better : try to get one of the old Halo campaign map designers to review their campaign.

I’m pretty sure we would’ve had Co-op and forge if it had another year.

Well, that doesn’t give any benefit or make much sense.

The game released a few weeks ago - that will have no effect on forge or co-op releasing next year so that’ll make no difference.

The only difference is, we have something to play in the meantime.

I’m sorry, do you see what you’re even writing? Co-op and Forge…hm…this game right now doesn’t have it. You know what the other games came out with on release day? Co-op and forge -_-. Gives people content and other reasons to play. Have you played Halo before? Cause I’m confused.

Ill try and make it simple for you

POINT ONE

If infinite released

  • last year
  • as it did on the 8th
  • or next year

We still wouldn’t have had forge or co-op until next year.

POINT TWO

343 are not great on realising what people want.

They unfortunately need to release a game incomplete, so we can shout at them, and they can fix it.

The sooner they release it
the sooner we can shout
the sooner they can fix it
the sooner we’ll all be happy.

POINT THREE

If you’re going to reply to someone’s post - read it properly because everything I’ve just said is in my original post.

If you’re still confused, I can’t make it any clearer.

You’re really annoying me with how you’re not getting the simple logic I’m giving you. IF . THEY. RELEASED IT. A . YEAR. LATER. WE. WOULD. HAVE. MORE. CONTENT. Clearly they weren freaking ready as they made us believe they were this year. Now that we have to wait months for co-op it leads to believe a whole year of development would’ve fixed that issue.

I know they don’t

You’re 100% correct that it should have been delayed at least another year. However, Microsoft and the shareholders can’t just endlessly dole out cash for years on end. Especially when the last halo game game out in 2015 and didn’t do the greatest all things considered. So there was no guarantee infinite would be better. Can’t take that risk for almost a decade of development and hundreds of millions if not billions of dollars

If your going to try and use punctuation to make things clear at least space it properly.

If you honestly believe anything 343 promise or if you honestly have any faith that they actually would release more if the whole game delayed then I have to disagree and wonder what you’ve been reading for the last 5-6 years on the whole BS trail.

They literally spelled out everything they wanted to avoid and did absolutely every one of them.

They’ve released it, it’s here, we can criticise it, now they can fix it.
IF THEY WAITED ANOTHER YEAR TO RELEASE - THE CRITICISMS WOULD START A YEAR LATER AND GET FIXED A YEAR LATER.
IF THEY WAIT 10 YEARS TO RELEASE IT STILL WOULDNT BE READY

If they released it a year later we would have more content, but at the cost of not having the game right now with content that is coming before Dec. 8th. This is the best outcome because they don’t just have a game that’s basically done except for Co-op (a feature that is vital to some less to others) and forge (same as co op). So to re state, 343i is getting feedback now, so when forge and co op come, the game should be working properly. Not to mention that assasinations will be coming before then, Dec. 8th 2022, as well

Classic glass half full vs half empty.

Campaign was awesome. Core game play in multiplayer is as well.

Would I like a few more maps, game modes etc. Sure. Who wouldn’t.

And I’d be lying if I said I’m not gutted by the delay to Forge, Scripting, and access to the stats API.

But glass definitely half full. And somebody is already organising the next shout.

There have been so many games that have delayed for years and years that have come out in a half baked state or even just missing features that were advertised so I have to wonder how often these delays really help the game. I’m sure they do to some extent, and I guess it ultimately depends on how the developer is managed, but I definitely don’t think that a game being delayed or even having more development time means that the game is going to be good when it actually releases.

I think in the case of Infinite, I’m ultimately happy with it overall and while I do think it has some issues that it should not have launched with and the optimization on the PC side of things leaves a bit to be desired but I’m okay with this launch as a whole.
I loved the campaign, I like the multiplayer, and if they are going to lean into the service aspect of the game then I at least want the playerbase to have some influence on what the game will become and maybe having players get in earlier is a good thing in this regard.

Would coop campaign or forge would have been in the launch of this game if it launched a year from now? I don’t think so because this game had already been delayed for years and that leads me to believe that these features were simply not a priority and the only reason we are getting them is because the players are pushing for it.

Would another year in development have helped this game? I don’t know. It’s not clear anymore if delayed games are better or worse off

I think they should’ve kept doing tech previews for longer. They needed community feedback, but yeah full launch I think has set them back at this point. Tons of bad first impressions.

Honestly, I don’t even think the core gameplay is that fun anymore cause there’s so many bugs and annoying little problems (like the tiny radar, overpowered grenade spam, magnetism and hit registration issues, etc.), paired with extremely minimal content, as you said. Even the campaign, while having some fun elements, was very repetitive and kinda lackluster in my opinion.

I think they should’ve done at least a few months of continued work, more (and longer) tech previews and surveys so they could get feedback from players who’d had a few months to really get used to the game and see what was annoying, and then released them game later.
