Halo infinite should be retitled to halo stagnant

The snarky comment extends to the rest of your post. I’d love a breakdown as to how Halo Infinite’s multiplayer component, from a content perspective, is even remotely akin to a pre-alpha or beta. I’m not talking about features, like custom game options, forge, theater, etc.

I’m talking about actual assets. Maps, weapons, equipment, etc. I want to know how, from a content perspective, the Halo Infinite Multiplayer release is basically a demo/pre-alpha/beta

Because there’s literally no difference in content available in the game when put next to the three flights we were given to play test. Is it really that hard to piece together?

Which weapon wasn’t in the flights?

Which ability wasn’t in the flights?

Which map was not in the flights?

Which vehicle was not in the flight?

Answer: none of them. They are exactly identical with a few mechanically tweaked guns.

Are you aware that feature complete content can be a part of betas/alphas in which the purpose of those is to gather analytics and stress test data?

Edit: Are you aware that an internal beta/alpha is radically different from an external one?

Are you aware that your argument has no substance, and still doesn’t discredit what I’ve said? External Betas like this game are free, and also just fractions of what a game offers come launch time. This is not the case for this game.

Sure I’ll engage with your stupid argument. Suppose that if they only had 4 maps in the beta/flights, and didn’t have the stalker rifle/sentinel beam, and didn’t have the gungoose/warthog variant (even though all of these were complete and ready to go), and then they flipped them all on when the campaign released… would your argument about content still stand?

The 18th rolled around, and the only significant change to the game that was made was your ability to purchase, and play the Campaign.

Did you even play all of the flights?

Do not compare apples with pineapples

In a sense you’re correct that they don’t care, they only need to catch a few gaming whales who’ll throw cash at literally anything and they can coast comfortably for years.

Though if Steam charts are anything to go by, 15k-30k average isn’t a good sign when you’re just starting out. If they’re not capturing the pvp audience now (and they’re not), I doubt they will in a year or two when its fixed.

I think 343 either doesn’t realize what their reputation is, or they don’t believe it’s significant to their bottom line.

343 needed to change a 10 year well earned reputation for being absolute incompetent clowns with how they manage the Halo franchise. They made a really good game with Halo Infinite, but if they spend most or all of 2022 mismanaging a live service in the way they have in the first two months, the game will remain dead, because they will have further confirmed their existing reputation.

“but it’s good now” won’t bring players back in 2023+

Ot, but was it worth waiting that long for that game?
Duke Nukem forever kinda stunk

But No Mans Sky is technically also an FPS :v

I have nothing to say but this is just how modern gaming is. The moment the filthy business minded corporate execs see how profitable gaming was, it became less of a product for the audience to enjoy but more of a product to fleece the audience of their money.

The soul and passion is slowly being sucked out of game development, and franchises which have garnered large followings over the years are just being systematically dismantled by corporate greed.

It’s basically a norm these days to release an unfinished game.

In Reachs defense it didn’t need a patch because the game released in a very stable state.
A few of the things that 343 did patch such as sword block and dmr bloom, were controversial opinion at best and nothing related to the actual functionality of gameplay such as netcode issues for instance. That is at least if my memory serves me well. I played Halo Reach from release well into the takeover and never remember any glaring issues as I have seen with this recent title. Just my perspective

  • Granted I forget that the purchase model of this game is different so possibly subjectively a minor apples to oranges

Reach had a lot errors in the MCC when it ported the PC. He may have a memory disorder.
In terms of completion, Infinite is not even as good as 343’s own h4h5.Every time they make a new game, the content is more incomplete and the story is worse.
The infinite campaign is good and fun, but it doesn’t tell much story.

While we’re on the topic, do you know what a ‘whale’ is in relation to cosmetics? I keep seeing the word thrown around but can’t for the life of me figure out the connection

It’s a space exploration game that lacked a lot of what was promised. They ended up fixing everything tho but to some people the damage as been done which is why it’s being compared to Halo infinite.

It was a term.that was popularized in believe around Mobil games describing people who would easily spend thousands of dollars on the Mobil games thus being whales of cash.

So basically players who just dump tons money into microtransactions regardless of how scummy they are. And obviously dime and nickel
