Halo infinite shotgun is extremely underpowered, it can't get a kill in even two shots, it's not competitive with a sword, any gun can beat it with a punch

Works fine for me… seems like a skill issue, or perhaps operator error.

The Halo Infinite Shotgun is Awful. They should just add the Halo CE shotty and nerf the [b]damage range[b] by 20%

I agree, If the shotgun cannot contest the sword or hammer it is damn near useless. A shotgun doesn’t need “range” it needs “power” its a SHOTGUN!!!

It’s fine as is. I’ve killed a sword user charging at me with it. [i think i got a clip of this actually] I’ve been killed with it when I was certain I’d win the close up fight. It’s a three-shot kill with a bit more range than the traditional shotgun. Adapt. It’s a good gun. It just needs to be met where it’s at instead of being expected to be the OG shotgun.

It’s not a shotgun. It’s a bulldog. It’s a little different and that’s the point.

Then they need to add a “SHOTGUN” and stop removing staples of gameplay…

100% agree. I love the bulldog, but the only real counter to the energy sword was the original shotgun. The sword is so devastating in infinite because it has no real, practical counter. This is even more evident on maps that have the sword and a grappleshot. Grab this combo and its almost a guaranteed killing spree.

Something I act6ally agree with you about. They should re-add the Halo CE shotty but nerf the damage range by about 20% to balance it

I would love to have the CE shotgun back, even though it was a little OP. At least is WAS a shotgun though lmao
I don’t understand how you can support an archaic feature like the og shotgun but also want to revamp the whole game. I’m fully agreeable with upgrading the game, but they don’t need to change the whole game is what I’m saying. I’m not against a Battle Royale, new games modes, or even the conniving paying for skins but all that needs to come after the game is solid and standing on its own IMO.

This is what happens when you try to balance all the weapons into the sandbox where they are close to even, yet can’t for some weapons like the Sword. They have gotten away from Halo’s core gameplay which was/should/will always be about having a 1-shot weapon for close range, mid range, and long range, and start everyone off with a versatile weapon (BR or M6D) which can defend from these 1-shot weapons.

I blame the AR and AR-starts. They are obviously trying to bring most things down to it, while also bringing up the effectiveness of the AR. So nothing really shines in the sandbox, aside from the BR now.

The Bulldog is a completely new beast. Don’t try using it like the traditional Shotgun from previous Halos. Once you learn how to operate it, you’ll see it’s quite interesting in it’s own right.
But with that said,
I think we need the Shotgun back. It seems the Bulldog cannot counter the sword properly. (Think about Infection) Take a sword user, toss in a grapple shot or repulsor, and you’ve got quite the advantage over your enemies. I would argue part of what made the Shotgun so special was that its whole functionality is to be lethal, which the Bulldog is not…at least, not as much. I recommend you watch Ascend Hyperion’s video on the subject.
Here’s my suggestion.
Keep the Bulldog as is.
Bring back the Shotgun as a power weapon to balance with the sword.

Just say you don’t understand how it works and move on.

Bulldog is okay and that is it. It isn’t even comparable to the M90 Shotty.

The truth is, I’d rather pick up the Heatwave or Mangler over the Bulldog.

Well it is better than the mangler in every way, while the heatwave is clunkier but can ricochet and kill faster (2 shots) if you land all the pellets.

You must not be good with the Mangler then, because I beat Bulldog users all the time lol

You’re getting shot at a distance more accurately by a Mangler and by the time you get close enough to do Bulldog damage or the Shot+Punch… I’m just shooting you over and over and running backward or waiting to punch you.

Um, how? The bulldog shoots slightly faster, both have about the same effective range, bulldog is MUCH easier to land shots with, they tie in a shot-melee contest, and the three shot kill with the mangler is only possible with perfect shooting, while it is basically a given with the bulldog.

I can shoot the Mangler much further then the Bulldog and much more accurately too. While you run in shooting your shotgun over and over at my midsection, I have already jumped + shot you in the head twice… so by the time you get close enough, I’m looking for a perfect time to punch you or I’m getting that last shot in.

Even turning a corner and running into a Bulldog, I shoot+melee and get instant kills the same as the Bulldog. There’s a reason why Pros are farming the Mangler and not Bulldogs…

In a point blank engagement, we would trade

In a short range engagement, you would get slaughtered by 3 slugs as I stay outside your melee range

In mid range you would need to shoot a perfect three shot to avoid getting 4-5 pieced by my bulldog, a gamble I would take any day by jumping after you hit me twice to force you to either make a very tricky shot or die.

At long range it is a stalemate because both guns suck at longer ranges.

So tell me why are players saying the Mangler needs nerfed or even removed? Why do Pros make sure to get a Mangler into every player’s hand on their team?

The only fuss the Bulldog makes in Infinite is “It’s not a shotgun!”

The Bulldog is just… okay. And in my experience, I beat Bulldogs all the time with the Mangler because I’m shooting them before they can get close enough to harm me lol and of course if a player is taken by surprise they are most likely going to die… that’s obvious. The same thing would happen if the Mangler shoots first.

I can shoot players with the Mangler from Rocket spawn on Bazaar all the way to the Overshield power up spawn… Tell me how far the Bulldog can shoot again?

Well you are comparing apples to oranges, the mangler is a tier 1 weapon while the bulldog is tier 2, meaning the mangler has 2-3 spawns on standard 4v4 maps and immediately begins respawning after taken, while the bulldog has 1 spawn and needs to be cashed first, or dropped and despawned before it begins respawning.

Trust me, if there were bulldogs on tier 1 racks, people would complain.

And in your example, the bulldog could do a little damage even at that range, would be like a 7 shot.
