How would you guys feel having the 12 shell shotgun make a return in the Halo series ? I hope to see it again incase we see the flood and I can go back to my Shotgun/Magnum loadout for Flood missions.
I think they should put more damage against other enemys than flood
I was (and still) playing Halo Master Chief Collection and I think until now the most balanced shotgun it’s Halo CE. Halo 5 was completely useless because of lack of ammunation on the battlefield on campaign(instead, have so beatiful design). In Halo 2, we have ammunition but it’s harder to kill the brutes and the flood (I don’t know if the problem was the weapon, level dificult or they turned the flood more harder. I can’t even kill double of them! Neither with one shot!).
Now I’m playing Halo 3, and I still need to play ODST 3 and Halo 4 again to refresh better (I think it’s useless too
If they will bring it back, they need to put more power, more CQC maps sections to bring the efficiency. Against flood, they should bring more bullets like CE to fight against big horde of flood.

I agree with the CE shotgun. The halo 2 shotgun was an overall nerf from the CE shotgun and you feel it the most in the campaign.
Shotgun in campaign needs a definite boost. Ammo capacity and damage should be such that its better to be used as high damage weapon as a reward for being able to close up on group of enemies before being shot.
Also, its definitely on its best on flood missions and given flood is mostly hordes of mobs shotgun needs ammo capacity to compensate that. And seeing HW2ATN flood seems to be making a return.
Though in multiplayer with the stuff like infection the capacity should remain lower given other team has swords and shotgun can be used to easily win most situations.
Other than that the shotgun aesthetics should be reverted to how it looked like in original trilogy.

Unfortunately , the ammo was reduced for MP balance. (looking at Destiny , Bungie still hasn’t figured out how to separate the two). If 343 can adjust it for campaign but still leave it reduced for MP , that would be cool. A 12 round shotgun in Mp would just be bad , to many camp fires as it is.
Lol I thought you were saying “12 gauge shotgun”. Yeah, I agree. 5 rounds is not enough. Even in arena I rarely get killed by the shotgun. I don’t think people trust it like they used to. I think 6-8 could be balanced. Most shotguns have around that capacity.

I’d be happy with 8 shells as well, just anything above 5 or 6 shells.
In halo CE the shotgun was 8 gauge then in halo 2 it got nerfed to something like a 20 gauge then they lowered the ammo and made the gauge 12 thats how it feels we need either bigger gauge shell that actually does something or more ammo to compensate in halo 2 the shotguns lack of power was countered by its high ammo atleast on heroic on legendary not really. As time goes on ammo capacity has decreased from almost all weapons the AR’s 60 rounds went to 32 then 36 the shotgun is obvious the DMR went from 15 to 14 magnum went from 12 to 8 to 12 i could go on but i believe we need that higher ammo capacity or atleast stronger rounds.

I think they should really put more power and load on campaign.
Maybe they should reduce the time spawn on MP and low reserve of ammunation, to not become so overpowered and so overused by many. I think only one player can handle this weapon on Battlefield, until respawn.
I’d like to see the REQ system be reformed into an upgrade system for the campaign, with one upgrade/variant having the 12 shot capacity for dealing with the Flood if they return. This would be absent from multiplayer, of course. Also, let’s change the design of the shotgun while we’re at it too.
I’d love it to return. But it should have less in multiplayer.

I’d really prefer it if they didn’t do that. We’d end up with a situation like DOOM 2016, where half the campaign guns have either different reticles or entirely new abilities solely for multiplayer balance, and with the addition of hitmarkers end up feeling a lot less like their campaign counterparts. I’d like to maintain some consistency, please.

In halo 1 its actually an 8 gauge shotgun shell
