So hear that they are replacing the good old pump action shotgun why
All the details on that are in the latest Inside Infinite update. The blog is a interview with the sandbox team who are responsible for all weapons & vehicles etc in game.
They explain the role of the new Bulldog Shotgun and why they’re substituting the old Shotgun for this model. This doesn’t mean the old model won’t ever appear again. It’s just a different weapon with a different purpose.

its also not a full substitution as the bulldog isnt a power weapon. I think there needs to be a shotty power weapon but who knows if there will be or not
Shotgun was the close range power weapon that could counter the Sword. We’ll probably see it down the line somewhere. Now, I’m not doubting the devs choices, but I think the Shotgun was an important weapon to the sandbox. The Bulldog, is a different weapon in functionality to the Shotgun. It’s faster and reloads instantly. No more timing your reloads in Infection, you can just reload like every other gun. Am I saying the old Shotgun was perfect? No. All I’m saying is there is room for both the Shotgun and Bulldog to live together. Same goes for the Magnum and Sidekick, but I’ll stay on topic.
The sword did what the old shotgun did but better. To be honest, I think it’s a good thing that the old shotgun got replaced. Now the shotgun fits a slightly different role and may blend into the weapon sandbox better than ever. But only time will tell if thats true.
All I can say is that if the flood are in halo infinite then we need the shotgun from halo ceit could hold 12 rounds at a time you could carry 60 extra and it was powerful the halo ce pistol needs to return to could hold 12 you had 120 extra and it was also powerful

I heard it something to do with multiplayer as far as I am concerned that’ is fine but the original shotgun needs to be in campaign
It doesn’t fill the usual niche of the Halo shotgun, as it has better range at the trade off of damage. This means the usual Halo pump action could fit nicely in the game as well. There’s a good chance that the original shotgun will return in a future update.

In my opinion there is room for both of them in the game

They are not replacing it, they are adding a new loadout type gun kinda like the halo 5 warzone loadout system where you can choose a assault rile battle rifle etc
Its probably going to be weaker, since it is not a power weapon, it just is going to be loadout weapon
(I said loadout 4 times)
It’s not confirmed that the bulldog is replacing the good ole shotgun, people are jumping to conclusions.

It has been confirmed by 343 that the Bulldog and Sidekick are replacing their originals counterparts.

Do you mean not replacing? Because that’s what that tweet says:
> While the Magnum and Tac Shotgun aren’t currently in the game, it’s not totally accurate to say “replaced” since the Sidekick and Bulldog are different enough where they can still co-exist/fill slightly different roles if those classic weapons were to ever return.
There’s every chance they could return, which has been mentioned a few times
Idk their exact reasoning for changing it but you can always read more in the inside infinite articles. I actually like the new shotgun and I’m excited to see what it brings to infinite and the sandbox

I’m pretty sure it was confirmed by 343 industries that the bulldog and the sidekick are replacing the current shotgun and pistol which I think is stupid in my opinion the classic shotgun and Magnum should be able to exist alongside there counterparts I think this decision had something to do with multiplayer PVP in other words which is fine for that but we should still be allowed to use the classic Shotgun and Magnum in the campaign

The tweet posted above that I quoted is from a 343 employee… They also mentioned in the Infinite blogs the same info, that while the traditional weapons won’t be there at launch the new owns aren’t a replacement. There is every chance we’ll see them post launch

We understand some players won’t be thrilled over the prospects of different pistols and shotguns but we encourage you to keep an open mind and we look forward to everyone getting hands-on perspective with these new weapons when the time comes.

Agreed, I bet they will announce the Original Halo Shotgun relatively soon after release if not on release date.

Since 343 isn’t here (and hasn’t listened to this feedback from the community, obviously,) I’ll give you the response they would offer:
“Something something the sandbox, something something halo combat loop, something about how our algorithms know more than the community, something about needing multiplayer like Warzone and something about how we’re all shmucks and we’ll pay them $10 for the classic weapons later.”
I think they are making big changes to the sandbox because they want super fast multiplayer clusterfucks like COD and they know that everyone will buy the classic weapons later. At least for me, there is no way in hell I’ll pay that money unless those guns come to the campaign too.

I personally don’t mind different versions of weapons in the campaign but still there’s no reason to remove the old versions of weapons

I mean, this has been a perfectly normal thing for Halo since the beginning. The M6C Sidearm completely replaced the M6D Magnum in Halo 2, and the SMG replaced the Assault Rifle. Plenty of weapons have come and gone and been lost to time since then. Golden Sentinel Beam, Brute Plasma Rifle, Mauler, Spiker, Plasma Launcher, Sticky Detonator, Focus Rifle etc. This applies just as well to weapons as it does to vehicles, armor permutations, Elites in multiplayer, dual wield, equipment, armor abilities etc.
Weapons get replaced, and then sometimes they come back. Most video games of all genres do this in one way or another. Fighting game characters. Mario powerups. Items in Zelda. Megaman buster weapons. It’s just kind of a normal thing. Heck the magnum itself has been drastically different in both function and appearance in almost every single Halo game.
