what youre asking for is really dumb. youre asking to stomp players and make it a horrible experiance for them. The problem I have with the sbmm is that it doesnt actually match skill properly. this game is throwing noobs in experianced lobbies which is why YOU feel like you have to carry and play like superman. I dont think people understand properly the issues they have with sbmm and ask for the wrong things to make it worse.
its a problem in ranked too now that the skill gap has grown since launch. maybe ive been unlucky and need to play more.
A big problem with a tight SBMM in social is that the good players never feel like they are progressing in skill.
Historically if I put in 500 hours into a multiplayer game, Iâm able to jump into social and stomp the majority of players. And rightly so.
Now if I put in 500 hours, I jump into social and have to try just as hard as I did 450 hours ago.
Some would argue that you have no such right.
Thankfully we can learn from historyâs mistakes.
Iâve always disliked party matchmaking. Not 100% sure, but I feel like MCC preferenced party size matching above sbmm (small population at the time didnt help either). I took a full team of a mix of low-high skilled players and literally got thrown into a game of a full party of (ex?)MLG guys. No fun at all
We werenât even a challenge for them, but I took my beating with pride.
I would ask how you are judging your âcompetitivenessâ, but it looks like youâre going by K/D. This is all well and good in Slayer, but we have Obj games thrown in (majority) here. K/D isnât really a fair assessment of how competitive the games were.
Itâs interesting though, were you queuing as a full party of 4? Solo?
If we knew HOW SBMM was implemented in Social vs Ranked, we could get to the bottom of thisâŚ
MCC has zero party matching in Big Team. Good luck when you are a bunch of random players that get matched up against a team of 8 blue players. You just hope they at least play the objective and end it quickly. Itâs pretty stupid.
I find that hard to believe when my full team of 1-6s went against a full team of 49-50s (just trying to get their boys up to 50 probably). Maybe they just scared everyone else out of the playlist that dayâŚ
But still, my point is, party size =/ skill in any way shape or form. I wouldnât prefer that form of MM
Before the game came out the one thing that concerned me was how they were going to implement SBMM and ya my concerns were warranted. Just like OP I understand why itâs implemented and some form of it should be there, but MCC had the same problem where you could almost relax more in ranked because at times it feels more social than actual social. Iâve honestly had games where I feel like Iâm playing Cod because I get one good game, then Iâm paired with massive sweats or a full lobby for the next few games (not every time but enough to become a bit frustrating).
Iâm no game designer so I canât say they should do this or that, but honestly the Haloâs on the 360 seemed so much better balanced for teams and just in terms for fun for social, especially Halo 3 and Reach. One thing I miss thatâs not even exclusive to Halo is a mm searching preferences where you can search for similar skilled players or more open options for faster search times (Halo 5 even had this).
Oh, my mistake. How dare I think that I should reap any sort of true benefit for getting good at a game.

Thats honestly a huge part of it. Comp is one thing, but in social you should feel like youre actually good at the game sometimes.
So has anything changed ???
Thereâs definitely no party matching in MCC. It may make an attempt to match parties with parties, but it absolutely allows full parties of 8 to match against randoms. Itâs a really bad system.
Anyway, SBMM in social big team shouldnât exist. Party matching should, but 12v12 is going to offer so much variety in player skill if done by connection that it would make for far more interesting games.
couldnât disagree more.
weak argument that has been made over and over and falls flat on its face due to what you are requestingâŚyou want multiplayerâŚwhere you dont have to try as hard.
NO NO NO
That is what co-op is for.
SBMM is NOT only for ranked.
This discussion is done except when people get bodied online and then demand the experience be cheapened so they can perform betterâŚwithout trying as hardâŚsee the flaw in logic?
NO
Co-op is coming and single player just dropped.
with respectâŚgo play that until co-op comes.
Tell me you never played Halo 2 or 3, without telling me you never played Halo 2 or 3.
Iâm having a hard time clearly understanding your argumentâŚ
Whoâs performing better without trying as hard? Because your statement works both waysâŚ
Low-skilled players protected by SBMM will perform better without trying as hard at the expense of the experience for higher-skilled players.
Without SBMM, high-skilled players will perform better without trying as hardâŚ
See how that works?
However, my argument is that STRICT SBMM in SOCIAL hurts the experience for teams who go in with friends of a wide skill range.
well after playing the game on a semi daily basis and having my comp rank rise to D5 Its offical, I can no longer play social slayer with my boys. Sick
Bump cause its relevant again
Make a second account for playing with friends aim to keep its rank low than everyone has a good time
Thats a terrible solution, they need to fix their game.
