It obvious that they want to get away from COD, Battlefield and Forza Horizon 5. But why release the game right after Dying Light 2. It should of been a week or two before. Some people are brain dead, when it comes to Marketing in Microsoft.
I don’t think Dying Light 2 is something they need to be overly worried about. The game looks fun and all, but Halo is definitely a bigger name - even with its drop in popularity over the years. I would be utterly shocked if dying light 2 outperformed it in sales.

Dying Light is very popular on Steam (PC).

You are calling professionals that have been in the industry for decades that. I really would recommend not calling people names in general especially ones that have more expertise in years worked than possibly you are alive. Dying Light 2 is a completely different game that looks cool however everyone is nervous on how it will end up with the development issues.
I think the release date will kindle lots of excitement right before Christmas which is big being a F2P/Game Pass game. It also gives the core CoD game time to thin out like Cold War.

I’m not arguing it isn’t. Not even saying it’s a bad game. Just that I don’t think it’s putting up the same level of competition something like a Battlefield or COD is due to the drastically different natures of the game and Halo’s f2p multiplayer aspect.

It could detract sales from Halo: Infinite’s expensive campaign…
Halo: Infinite 6-8 hour short campaign OR Dying Light 2 roughly 30+ hour campaign?

It definitely could and I expect some people will choose dying light over halo. But in the casual gamer population, the Halo name has a bit more recognition and I still expect it to do fine up against Dying Light 2. The fact is, no matter when they released, there would be some sort of competition and they could do far worse.

Where’d we find out that Infinite’s campaign will only last eight hours tops? We taking into account speedrunners, “Take the time to admire everything” players, and most importantly replayability? A major factor there for me; if it’s not fun to play a second, third, or eighteenth time then what does it matter to me how long the average playtime for the campaign is estimated to be.
There are a handful of reasons that we can deduce here.
1st and foremost, Infinite is seeming to need as much time as possible. I doubt that the ~3 weeks between Dec. 8 and Nov. 15 is going to make or break anything, but more time always helps.
2nd, they probably want to avoid CoD and Battlefield, and this will be over a month since either of those launched.
3rd, Microsoft probably wants to avoid Forza Horizon 5.
4th, with multiplayer being free-to-play, and most players (on console at least) playing via Gamepass, I do not think that they are worried about Black Friday.
5th, at E3 they promised 1 big release every month for the rest of the year. This is them staying honest to that.
I wish they would have done a surprise release yesterday during gamescon.
I suppose we can always dream. Lol
