The current Motion Tracker just doesn’t cut it. 343 pulled it from Halo 5 and it worked for Guardians because of thrusters, but not for Boots on the Ground Halo. In my opinion, the Motion Tracker should go back to being a MOTION TRACKER just like it was in Halo: CE through Reach. Then crouch won’t feel meaningless and be utilized more often. Plus it could help make the maps feel less “campy”.
343’s liberties on the radar is just another injury to the game’s integrity. It’s not really a quality of life change that should’ve happened naturally with each installment it just feels unnecessary. I think overall if they want to bring in players new and old the radar should function in the classic format. It’s what the veterans are used to and it’s helpful to someone trying to learn the game.
in their defense, the radar is more useful in Infinite than it was in Halo 5. Crouching to sneak is a pretty cool Halo thing that we’re losing with this. Not only that it’s hard to see the point of the radar not tracking base enemy movement when sprint isn’t really much faster anyway.
If pinging was meant to substitute this underwhelming radar system it’s not cutting it. Due to the fact the radar’s tracking distance is shorter than classic. By the time I’ve seen the enemy, LET GO of the right stick to press up on the D-pad to ping we’re already dead. it makes more sense to just start blasting them. On the other hand I think pinging could be better larger map settings or when the enemy is out of radar range.
Honestly I wouldn’t mind this radar in an MLG standard when I’m playing with a group and we’re communicating, but hopping into a social slayer match like this by myself would be pretty frustrating.
In days of bigger and better screens, better sound set or Head phones peeps should learn to Rely on the surrounding. I never watch radar as it distracts me alot. So for me This is perfect solution. KEEP IT THAT WAY 343 PLZZ😁

To me this is blending social and MLG into one and that’s what the problem really is. I feel like it would be better to revert back for social and use this in competitive. You can’t really pay attention to your surroundings while in a gunfight either they could easily just melee you in the back. I just hope this isn’t the default radar in most playlists.

Ok but that alienates an entire population of gamers who don’t have high quality headphones. Sound should be immersive but it shouldn’t give you a competitive advantage that someone playing without sound doesn’t have.
What i meant is that i like more of the surprise element. Then being focused on the radar im mean we are all in the Same boat. So No One has an advantage
I did feel myself actively not paying any attention to my radar as it wasn’t very informative. I think some adjustment needs to be made where sprinting makes an enemy show up at any distance on the radar, running makes them show up at a closer radius so that you can still react to their presence, and crouching you are always invisible to the radar.
I think there’s more incentive to camp if every movement is shown on radar. Why standing around if it isn’t an advantage over walking? I had no campers.

> Normally under no radar Rules I do fine, but that is also after I’ve already dropped 100-200 hours in the game and know where people are and how spawns work.
Exactly this. It also adds an extra layer of decision making to should I sprint or not. I found myself rarely sprinting because I did not want to expose myself.
I haven’t been bothered by it while playing.
I do like the idea of being able to crouch and being undetected.

I totally agree. Maybe we there will be separate modes with different radar settings.

Most don’t want aiming redone there are alot more than happy with it. Radar is the one thing almost everybody agrees on

Based on what method of data collection?
This radar system just aint it chief it felt foreign and like cod another call of halo momment
Yeah wasn’t a fan of how it operates I guess it’s so the game can feel more team-oriented but playing solo with it sucks I can deal with no radar but when its there I depend on it maybe it’s just a bad habit.

Was coming to say just this… adding that shooting would always show up at any distance too.

> I’d also like to say this is really my only issue with the game everything else has been great. I haven’t been looking forward to a halo game this much since reach and it seems extremely promising so far.
Not a fan of it, the gameplay is relatively slow and this only hurts it. It really makes it even harder to win fights if you get ambushed.
I don’t like it. They really should bring back the old motion tracker; range of 25 meters, and players appear while moving unless crouched. There’s no point to crouching with the radar in Halo: Infinite, and with Sprint only allowing you to run 3% faster, most players will quickly learn not to sprint and the radar will be completely useless.
For SOCIAL slayer the radar 100% needs to be reverted to the old style, with any movement (apart from crouch) pinging your location.
For RANKED or competitive modes I think the way it is now would be good.
Yeah it was frustrating. Once I figured it out, I concentrated on not sprinting and got the drop on people more often. But once everyone figures that out, it will be basically useless. I didn’t like that the halo 5 sensor had a very small range, and it did seem like Infinite’s was a little bigger.
Loved the game overall though.
